Makes sense when you are going off the grid completely.
unfortunately not generating enough solar to do it fully, but in the summer sunny months I should get close to zero grid usage once this battery goes in.

winter is another question! then its about moving to a cheap off-peak tariff to charge car and battery and use at peak times..

starting to look at home assistant now for automation... another rats nest!

Octopus Energy got some decent tariffs for EV owners. Also seen people being offered 15p for export.

We’ve had 475 panels installed at our business park scattered over four rooftops. Six months in and we are still waiting for some Export MPANs to be issued.

Keep us updated and do post pics of your new motor in iPhone 15 thread lol.

yep, I'm on octopus and getting 15p per kWh for export.. it took a good few weeks for MPAN etc.

the best I've had is where I've exported 13 kWh (after using what I needed) so sticking that in the battery and using when I want was a no brainer (though there's a lot of man maths involved)

powering the car of sunshine its the eutopia!

but I digress.. one for another thread!.. I can charge my phone from the solar excess...

I have had Home Assistant for about 5 years. PM me if you want a heads up. My whole house is automated lol. Everything :)

I'm with you.. but I've got a larger preorder bug this year... has defo taken the shine of the phone knowing that's 3 months away.

the hype will come though, you know it will..
I’m with you there.

I’ve ordered a new car and can’t wait to get it. I’m getting hyped about the iPhone but not as much as the car because this is the first time I’ve ever ordered a brand new car that’s actually going to me mine.

Gotta be that grey for me looking at these! I think/hope it'll match quite nicely to the aluminium silver on Macs.

The Space Black crew will be disappointed - looks a lot lighter than the 14 Pro series. The Silver back looks more cream/golden than white in hue while the Blue model is giving Pacific Blue vibes.

ooh.. not sure I'm a fan of any of those images!

assuming the order there is Blue, Grey, White, "Black"

the grey seems a little too silvery there... was hoping for a slate like finish

@ct2k7 was doing these threads before me.. I joined their iPhone 5 thread 11 years ago!

back then we were bragging about getting mobile data speeds of 19Mbps! 🤣

Long-time lurker here - I was posting in July 2008 on a UK iPhone 3G launch day thread about problems with SIM activation on the only permitted carrier, O2 😂

Looking at my post history I didn't get involved in the UK pre-order threads until the 6S and 6S Plus but I didn't actually pre-order my own iPhone until the iPhone SE OG and the iPhone 7 threads, been involved ever since but quite low profile.

I only moved over to Apple for the iPhone 4 after I left my Nexus One (the OG HTC made one) on top of my car and drove off for it to never be seen again! 😂

then took the iPhone 4 on contract, skipped the 4s and then bought every year direct after that

So what we thinking

15th pre-order
22nd delivery
yep, hopefully no delays in the pro Max.. or at least a quick completion of the pre-pre on the 22nd for an initial batch before dates slip!

not had that tension of missing out on launch day stock in a good few years as Apple have made the process quite slick now

those days of 8am pre-orders and missing out if you didn't get one in by 8.07 seem like they've long gone.

Yep, my phones preceding my launch day iPhone 3G (and an original iPod Touch before that because I was impatient but didn't want a 2G-only phone) were a very compact thin Samsung running Windows Mobile/CE with a QWERTY keyboard and scrollwheel, and before that an Orange-branded HTC with full (resistive) touchscreen and stylus running Windows Mobile/CE.

What a leap forwards the Apple devices were at the time. Except for the enforced choice of network 🤣

Before that it was all Nokias, from the first one on Orange in 1994 until latterly with internet access using an infra-red connection to a Psion PDA for email and web browsing! Oh, except for an original Motorola Razr in its massive metal presentation case!

Blue for me :)

Had my 12PM in Pacific Blue, my 13PM in Graphite, and my 14PM in Silver. Nothing beats the blue IMO!
