Haha, did you still get one last year, despite being 30th or so in the queue?

Yes, we were very fortunate in being the last two to get one. We had to settle for 16gb models but wasn't an issue.

I hope this year they actually come out and communicate with the queue regarding how many they have as there were dozens of unhappy queuers behind me.

Existing customers only during launch is what they're saying!

How do you know this?

I think voda are far too expensive for the stuff you get with the contract.

Have you actually looked around?

Orange 32GB iPhone 4S 18 Month 900 mins 500 txt 1 GB data £46 + vat per month Phone cost £219 WTF??????

O2 not even selling to new customers pre order WTF???

Voda iPhone 4S 32GB 18 Month 1200 mins 3000 txt 750 MB data £51 all in Phone costs £79 but you get £59 back.

Personally I don't think Voda's that bad looking at that and thats why I've gone over to them from Orange they just couldn't believe I could get a 32GB iPhone for that little.

Is anyone but me having problems ordering an iPhone 4S from 3?

I'm going for the iPhone 4S White 64GB and everytime I get to the final confirmation screen I get an error screen.

Any ideas? Been doing this for me for about two days now :(

Delayed?

Just pre-ordered a 16gb 4S with Vodafone and within a few minutes of ordering got a text from them saying "Your Vodafone order has been delayed and won't be delivered as planned. We will send you another message with your new delivery date ......"

Anyone else had this?

Its because they have ran out of stock, so your order will be delayed

Then why wasn't that made clear when I ordered?

Is anyone else going for a 12 month contract?

Using O2 Recycle to sell my old sim free iPhone 4 for £266.50 which covers the cost of the handset on Vodafone (£259) Then from there the contracts is 12 x £41p/m with Vodafone offering £59 cash back and Quidco are giving another £40. So all in the equivalent cost for the year should be £385.50 for the year or £32ish a month.

I had planned to skip the iPhone 4S but with a 12 month contract with an equivelant cost of £32 a month (granted with a fair bit of hassle) I don't think I'll be able to resist temptation. :D

I had this problem all last night, managed to break through this morning, some of their payment systems for pre-authorising cards seem to be up and down through getting hammered I would have thought, keep trying and you'll get there eventually.

I'm waiting on my confirmation email now.

When do you guys think we can expect our 4S' from Apple to start "Preparing for Shipment" ?

I'd guess Monday/Tuesday. Gives them either Tuesday to Thursday/Wednesday to Friday to get to their destination from Shenzhen.

Don't Apple have a warehouse/distribution centre in Cork? Wouldn't they ship from there? My BTO iMac did...

The big problem is they now no longer fall back to Orange everywhere like they used to. In areas where they feel their 3G coverage is good enough they have turned off the option to fall back to Orange but that has caused more blackspots than they had before.

I admit I was worried about this - but in almost a year of using Three I've never hit a black spot.

How do you know this?

I read their website.

"iPhone 4S is for existing O2 customers on 14 October
Everyone wants one, so we're looking after our existing customers first. Get all the details in our top FAQs."

----------

What ??? How did you get that?

"* For the launch of iPhone 4S we're offering our existing customers iPhone 4S 16GB for free on a 900 minute 18 or 24 month contract, saving £49.99."

Vodafone are doing something similar but for pre-orders. :)

Yes but the cost per month is stupidly high

Compared to? The contracts across the networks are very very similar...

Yeah but they don't make them there. They are assembled in China then are put on planes to take them to the country they are been delivered to. I don't know if the delivery company handle them as soon as they leave the factory or if they picked them up at an Apple warehouse.

I don't think that all the iPhones are in Cork at the moment, could be wrong, but they are probably still coming out of the factory since it is just a new product. If you were to order an iPad 2 just now then it would probably come from the Apple warehouse as it has been out a while now, so they have stock that has come from China.

Any other network, most other networks give you the phone for free if you pay about £45 per month on 24 month contract.

On O2 you have to add the data bolt on on the top

Yeah with O2 you're paying £46 a month & get a free phone (regardless of any offers). Fair point about the bolt ons, O2 were very sneaky with that this year.

Quick question , can I get it sim free on the 14th? and will there be enough to get it later on friday? :D Im in Dublin but would travel to Belfast to get it.

I think Apple will be the only place to get the 4S unlocked on release day.

Anyone going to the Glasgow store on release day?

Has anyone had any luck ordering online with 3 today?
spent the last couple of hours trying but keep getting an error message at the final stage

Im almost certain ill be going with Three in the UK, on a sim only deal. £15 a month. However im also still tempted by O2s simplicity tarrifs.

Ive been warned that when you buy an iPhone direct from Apple, £500 16g for example... that as soon as you put one networks sim inside, thats it. Your new phone is tied to that network from then on. Is this the case? As you buy what is essentially an unlocked iPhone from Apple can you not switch from Three to O2 every other month if you really wanted too?

Also, id be interested to hear what people think comparing Three and O2 as an iPhone service provider. Ive heard mix opinions from various shops, as you do :), as to whos best, whos got the quickest network?

One other question id like to ask... teathering on Three. Anyone had experience with this? On O2 you need to pay an additional £10 ontop of any contract to have this ability. How does it work on Three? Is there a similar charge?

Cheers
