The tethering is part of the Data Bolt Ons - it comes out of your "monthly" allowance.

They only charge extra for tethering if you are on one of the older tariffs, all the tariffs they offer at the moment include tethering when you buy the standard data bolt ons.

Ahh, thanks! I was getting confused with the £10 quote in a post before!

Also do you think that they'll update or change their simplicity contracts for iPhone in any way when the 4S releases? I assumed if they did they would have when they released details for the normal contracts. But this person on the chat thing says they are thinking about it still.

I looked at My O2 yesterday and it said I could fast track upgrade for £47. So this is what I was planning to do on launch day. Looked this morning, and the fast track upgrade page had disappeared. Phone customer service and they said the company had changed this overnight and customers who paid £40 and over were the only ones who could fast track. So I hung up, mulled over my options... Then realised how annoyed I was with O2.

Firstly, they take forever to announced prices which aren't any better than the other operators. Secondly they still haven't announced Any early upgrade offers. Thirdly their tariffs have gone up £2 for some reason. And fourth, they were asking their customers to queue outside a shop on launch day when every other operator was allowing pre orders online. So I rang O2 back up... Asked to cancel my contract. They were trying to do everything to keep me but worked out even if O2 did do the offer they did last year, still wouldn't be worth staying with those cretins. So it's cost me £60 to terminate my contract. That will come through in November. My contract terminates on 7th November with O2 and I have ordered the 4s in Black, 16gb on Orange with 1gb Internet, 300 mins and unlimited texts. Ordered via the Carphone Warehouse and had the confirmation for delivery on 14 October. :)

Didn't want to leave O2, but their iPhone 4s preparation has been shoddy, and don't think they are looking after their customers good enough. Farewell O2, hello Orange.

As I have said many times leave O2 go to any other network.

Preferably three-as they have the best tariff going unlimited data and good coverage.

Hahaha, every other post is someone going on about how good Three are, I'm glad you found your perfect network but many others would not share the same opinion!

Had a very similar experience and that is why I've ordered through Vodafone. I really don't understand why they are not taking pre-orders. Anyway I'm another less person in the queue for those of you staying with O2.

Cases

So, in the US they have the Verizon and the at&t iPhone 4 which have slightly different bodies which means they have to have different cases. Now, I'm assuming that in the UK any case for the iPhone 4 here (which I guess is the same as the Verizon one - not sure) will fit the iPhone 4s? Am I right in assuming this or should I wait until it's confirmed (before ordering one)?

Sorry if this has been answered, I looked in the other thread but it was mainly for the states.

Anybody that has ordered from the Apple Store yesterday night got their confirmation e-mail yet? I guess I didn't receive it yet because it's a weekend :\

Don't worry too much about the email, as long as it is in your order history page on the apple website.

Wow!!! can't believe that at all. I was going to do the fast track upgrade for £47 too, but after finding out from you that they only allow fast-trak for people spending £40+ per month i'm so glad i didnt as i was only on the £35 a month tarrif. I would of been totally annoyed in that situation.

So glad i'm going unlocked and sim free now.

As for o2, never again.

Sorry, no. The Verizon one is different from the GSM model that is on AT&T and all UK networks. The aerial design of the 4S (I believe) is similar to the Verizon model so the old UK cases won't fit.

I'm sure compatible cases will be available very soon if not immediately after launch.

Are O2 really this bad? I've been with them for 2 and a half years and their customer service is ridiculous! They've always been to the point and helped me fast and quickly. I've only used them twice but both times it's been top notch.

Earlier today I was seriously considering switching to 3, but I've decided I'm just going to stay on O2 with one of their sim only contracts, even though they're more expensive.

Ditto, O2 won't get the light of day out of me again. Shoddy treatment. Only ever been with O2, so it's sad it came to this. Very disappointing and I told the lady on the phone and at my extreme disappointment with the company. Know it's not her fault personally but you need to express your disappointment with the company at times like that. So I've just got my October bill to pay by 22nd and my termination fee on around 22nd November.

There customer service seemed fine to me. But there 3G Speeds, 3G Coverage, and iPhone upgrade plans and launches are so bad. No preordering, always the last to reveal prices, early upgrade only for people on £40+ contract per month, and they don't have the best deals around.

That's the good thing about O2. Customer service- terrific. However, how they have handled this launch has been embarrassing. They have looked like a little boy lost amongst all the big boys in the playground. But this is O2 were talking about, supposed to be the major phone network in the UK. Poor.

They were the same last year, it was the first launch of a new iPhone for all the other networks and they all managed to do a better job of providing information than O2, that had been doing it for years.

I think O2 are scared of pre-orders after the effect it had on their website, the first couple of launches. So now they do in-store only until the rush dies down. Its just laziness really though, there is no reason why they couldn't improve the reliability of the website.

Ive been with o2 since 1998, haha... And have just swapped over to giffgaff.

I am a big data user and i ended up paying £1 a day for data after using up my 500mb!

Giffgaff... 250 minutes/unlimited texts/unlimited data £10 a month. Just waiting for my number to port over!

That's not what I got told by Apple employees in store on Friday? I got told they would work perfectly fine.

Dimensions are the same, design is the same the only difference is a groove or two for the antenna I really doubt that existing cases won't fit the 4S.

Apparently the mute switch is in a slightly different place which is the cause of the problem. Maybe this isn't an issue in some cases but its probably still worth waiting until it's in your hand.

Ah, kewl. Got confused there, Verizon is CDMA, not at&t. I guess I'll wait for further confirmation, don't really want to waste my time with returns and all.

what are the chances do you reckon of me getting an iphone at the end of this month or middle of next? i dont get no money til then :( will they be sold out whats your thoughts?

yes it should because there is room for the change in the mute switch position

I thought the 4S personally had the case design of the GSM, but with some minor antenna adjustments as per the CDMA phone. As we have not had the CDMA variant of the phone over here (or anywhere outside the USA), i doubt they would release the next version based on that and annoy all the people that bought accessories for the 4.

If this is true I won't be impressed as I purchased 2 cases from Apple shop and have no way of getting back to return :(

I'll be leaving Vodafone after my experience regarding the iPhone 4S. I went into their local store on Friday and asked what they could do for me as a current customer looking to upgrade. I was quoted their outrageous £259 upgrade price (i pay £31pm).

I then told the fella talking to me that Three were offering the same contract for a pound a month cheaper and would give me the phone for £139. He told me that was impossible because 'Apple set the phone pricing'.

After weighing up my options i'm thinking of going to GiffGaff. 99% of my phone use is for texting and data so their £10 a month offer will suit me fine. It means paying more upfront to get the 4S from Apple but i'll save about £200 over the 2 years that a regular contract would last.
