You're in the UK, don't get your hopes up. I, and others have got in touch with Apple and it looks like they won't send out the iPhones until Friday. So, you'll be waiting into next week for them to be delivered. But it looks like the Americans will get it for the 14th. UK shafted again.

I hope they are just misinformed, but I'm not getting my hopes up for a Friday delivery.

The problem with one UK thread "to rule them all" is that we keep going around in circles... all this has been discussued earlier in the thread (although I don't blame you for not reading all 70+ pages).

To summarise what I have read/my experiences:

  • Apple online 'chat' have given conflicting info - some customers have been told they will get their phones AFTER the 14th but some (me included) were told the first orders WILL be delivered on the 14th
  • Some (perhaps most?) UK iPhone 4 and iPad pre-orders shipped (i.e. from the point at which they could be tracked) from the UK and not China (my iPad pre-order included)
  • We had the 'ships by [launch date]' issue with the UK iPad launch, but then they were delivered a day early!

I'm not expecting to see any change in my shipping status until tomorrow (or even Thursday), but, at the moment, I still believe that I will get my iPhone 4S on Friday :)

Im still wondering why apple took the 499 from my bank account, and then put it back in again! - I think it may of been a pre-authorisation check, but its not reassuring to know they haven't even taken full payment yet!

Why would they take full payment now? They don't usually do it until they dispatch or even shortly afterwards.

I just spoke to Apple Customer Service.

The person has confirmed that orders are being collected on Friday the 14th by the couriers from Apple and deliveries will take place Monday or Tuesday of next week.

When i informed him about the fact that people in the US will have their delivered on the 14th he said "Have they actually received shipment confirmations? Wow this has not happened for us (UK)".:mad::mad::mad:

Just to clarify on the updating of delivery status on the Apple shop.

I had a quick flick through the UK iPhone 4 thread yesterday. This seemed to be the timeline. Remember, it was a Thursday launch, so everything should be a day later this time.

By Tuesday evening, nobody had any movement on their delivery status. However, if people logged in through the US site it was saying that it was being prepared for dispatch.

Tuesday night (in fact, the early hours of Wednesday): Items started being marked as dispatched, with delivery stated as by Thursday.

Wednesday morning: Some items started to be delivered.

Thursday: Almost all preorders delivered.

So, don't worry about delivery status not changing. For the iPhone 4, it was literally just a few hours between some items being marked as dispatched and orders starting to arrive.

If the status hasn't changed by Thursday morning then we may have a problem, not before. It is certainly no concern that they haven't changed yet.

Just shows how clueless they are. There is still no reason why they won't ship Weds / Thurs from a European location and arrive on Friday.

Maybe, i hope he is. But give the fact that UK iPhone 4 pre-orders were shipped 5 days prior to launch from China and not from UK/europe, it is a pretty safe assumption.

When you call them all they say is it's shipping on the 14th, though it might be earlier. My work colleague claims that Orange are delivering his today! So will be quite surprised if Orange can get them to the end user quicker than Apple.
Highly doubt it - I just got off the phone with Orange and they've not even received the stock yet :(

They won't even let you go into a store on Friday and pick one up if you've pre-ordered over the phone.

Life has taught me to take anything a customer service rep says with a massive pinch of salt.

As an experiment, telephone customer services (of virtually any company) several times and ask the same questions. Chances are you will get several different answers.

The vast majority of iPhones will be delivered on Friday, believe me.

No. I've become obsessive compulsive-swiping to the June Cloud widget on my Mac or tapping the Deliveries app on my iPhone. All perfectly normal for me.

Also perfectly normal are people saying they've spoken to Uncle Tom Cobbley & All who was certain it will/won't be delivered on Friday!

It's great fun-just remember whatever-nobody died!

PS If anything changes you'll be the first to know..

WEll, thank god! ;)

Actually my iPhone 4 shipped from Ireland a couple of days before launch. Thinking back I'm pretty sure it shipped on the Thursday.

Mine didn't come straight from China, it was shipped from Ireland. They will have had more time to build the stocks up over here this time, so they probably don't need to ship any straight from China.

That is certainly not what happened going by the iPhone 4 UK release forum.

Items were marked as dispatched literally hours before some started being delivered.

I've had to change my tariffs over when I've changed from iPhone to BB etc, it's to do with the BB using the Blackberry services add on, although it shouldn't be a problem for them to just swap it over.

Finally managed to speak to someone and i'm not having to pay anything extra (they originally told me £20 for the sim!)

they're sending a micro sim out, but im having to change to an iphone plan to do so! they also said it would be 4 working days... so i've also bought a sim cutter off ebay which hopefully should get here first!

Im not paying any extra a month, but to keep to the same price my call time minutes have to go down from 600 to 100. which doesnt bother me at all. will just go back to the 'phone me back!!' style of PAYGO lol

I'm not worried about the phone not being delivered on friday, but I'm a little concerned about the time. I'll be away after 3pm on friday.. Anyone in the London-area with experience with previous pre-order deliveries? Did you get the delivery in the morning or in the afternoon? :)

If you want to see for yourself what happened in the UK with the iPhone 4 release, here's some links:

First report of item showing as shipped:

https://forums.macrumors.com/threads/924451/

That was at 1.13am on the day before launch date.

Others followed closely after that.

First delivery:

https://forums.macrumors.com/threads/924451/

The first reported delivery on that thread was at 9.34am, just over 8 hours after the first dispatch report.

Incidently, there are some very good predictions on this page from Journojulz and bbisman about this years release.

My iPhone 4 was delivered on release day! Don't worry, they will be out for delivery on the 14th if you managed to get ordered early on the pre order day!

Anyone noticed you can add a message to the order? I added a cheesy 'Happy iPhone day Tanuj :)' to it. Yes Tanuj is my name lol. I can't wait!!

Keep Calm and Carry On!!!

Deep breath everyone! .. There is nothing to suggest that delivery won't be as expected .. all our orders (from Apple) say dispatched by Friday .. just trust it!

So much stress .. what will we do with all that excess energy once we have our iphones?!?! lol

It does make me giggle reading this thread... What if it turns up a day late??? Or even 3 days late because they dont deliver Sunday's?? what will I ever do?
