First post although I have been lurking on here for the last 3+ weeks!
I have been through it with you guys, ordered with 3 on the 14th over the phone (due to website down), ordered 32gb Black and paid my £89.
After a nail-biting wait I got my first email from 3 on the 20th to inform me that my iPhone would be delivered as promised on the 21st!
I awaited the tracking info, but alas there was none.
Friday came and I had the day off work so I was up early and like you guys, was twitching the curtains at anything that sounded like a delivery van.
I tried to track my order on the DPD website with my email address and postcode but alas it drew a blank every time.
By lunch time, no sign of the phone and I had bitten my nails down to the bone so I thought it was time to ring 3 and get them to put me out of my misery.
Unfortunately their phones were jammed and I just kept getting the engaged tone.
By 2pm I was a nervous wreck and so tried to ring 3 one more time. I got through to the Indian call centre where the nice lady informed me she could find no record of my order

She then transferred my call to the Scottish call centre who luckily were able to find my order and told me my iPhone was on its way to me and would be delivered within the next hour! She then apologised for the miscommunication of my tracking details.
The phone arrived on time and I have been grinning ear to ear since.
That is - until today.
My iPhone needed a charge so I plugged it in to my PC tower (as usual) and - nothing happened. Strange I thought. I then plugged the USB cable into the Apple mains charger and still the phone refused to recognise the cable.
I then plugged the cable into my powered USB hub. As soon as I plugged it in, the LEDs on the hub went out, and the lightning connector started to get very hot!
Oh dear I thought. A short circuit in the lead I thought. Panic! I thought.
I then remembered from reading this thread how good Apple stores have been with returning faulty/damaged items, so off I trekked to the nearest Apple store (40 miles away). I arrived at the busy store and asked an assistant if she could possibly test my lead as I suspected it had become faulty..? Rather than make a fuss, she simply got a new lead off the shelf and swapped it for my faulty lead, no questions asked. Awesome service.
While I was there I purchased a second lead and micro USB adapter as a precaution!
Not much is known about the lightning plug at present but it has been discovered these plugs possibly contain an authentication chip. I suspect it was this very chip that had become faulty and was causing the problem with my lead, so I would advise everyone to make sure you have a back-up plan just in-case your lead mysteriously refuses to work.
If your lead becomes short circuit like mine did, it could do permanent damage to your PC/Mac motherboard and power supply so use with caution!
