I'd assume they didn't give the marketing/web teams enough warning to do whatever they needed to to be sure they would be ready? I mean you would think they would assign them to put something in place pre-announcement ready to just have the pictures and details added once they are allowed to be know, but possibly they take the secrecy far to seriously to even tell their employees to prep something "just incase it is the announcement, but we don't know, honest... we aren't a 4G partner whose new network will be mentioned as having just started in the keynote or anything!"

Maybe some depressed server guys have been slaving overnight till now to make sure they can start selling in a couple of hours.
 
It's so annoying that no one have released their prices yet.....gonna have to definitely buy it outright i think anyway but it would have been nice to see their prices just in case they tempted me into contract!

I doubt the order will go to packing/shipped till after the weekend at the earliest, so I'd assume we'll have time to cancel of one of the networks has insanely good prices that make it much better to go with them. And worst case we should be able to cancel/return under distance selling laws, though in that case if they charged me I'm not sure I could get enough moved around to make a order with someone else till the cash was back in my account. Though I guess the upfront would have to be low to make it a crazily good deal.
 
Good luck to those who are ordering...got to wait till 8th dec when my contract ends. More to look forward to.

So the decision everyone has to make, black or white? I went for white with my 4s - think a change is in order!
 
And now I have just realised that Pacific time is only around 2307hrs...

I had the white 4S. Which I loved BTW. Now I think a change is i order, plus the anodised black looks pretty awesome!

Black. I don't like the look of the white models when the screen is off. Black it mostly blends, white it stands out to me. Am slightly concerned about how the black may look if it scratches though.
 
Getting the white 32gb! :apple: Hope everyone faints when they see the apple store back online so i can safely buy mine :)
 
Sorry if I sound thick... but I have only ever upgraded through my network - I have the 4S which I got on launch, and the earliest Orange will allow an upgrade is Aug 2013, according to my online account.

I see they will let you buy out the contract for a 25% reduction on existing payments..

BUt I think I prefer to buy unlocked, and get new sim to throw in.

That will work right? - I just call Orange, say 'switch my account to a nano sim' please - and I go right ahead?

Will be at an airport in France at launch time, so won't be pre-ordering right away if I go ahead, but in the next 2 weeks.

I imagine the black would scratch a lot and show up more than the white one does. I've always had black but have always wanted to get a white phone so I'm getting white 32gb :)
 
Black for me. For 2 reasons

1. When watching a video the screen looks bigger on black as your eyes aren't drawn to the white bezel of the white iPhone.

2. The white is for girls :D
