I've heard that it can't too, despite the fact that there are nano sim cutters available.

Although what is the difference? 15% thinner? That's literally less than 0.1mm - surely a single swipe of a nail file on the top of it ought to do the trick.

EDIT: Do Three have a nano SIM request page? I presume this SIM would be plug and play on one's existing account and not require re-activating/migration?

Yes, the nano sim sits inside this plastic nano to micro adaptor.
Then the whole thing sits nicely in the iphone4 sim tray.
THEN the thing in the thing in the thing slipped into my iPhone 4 like Normal.

As for the nano being slimmer I didn't even notice.
But reading all of this thread I guess it is?

I've cut COUNTLESS sims down to Micro size, all by hand. Never used one of them punch-out things and never had a problem.
Even ones where at 1st glance the connector plates on the sim 'look' different.

We may find that a micro cut down to nano will just slip into the iPhone 5 without any back sanding.
Didn't the ip4 take a micro sim and one of those 'unlock adaptors' on top?

Won't know till we get the ip5 in our hands.

On GiffGaff so will be cutting and sanding the hell out of my current sim as theyve stated the nano sim will be available in a couple of months :eek:

Also got the Boxcar notification so I'm all set... now to try and sleep :apple:

Also... anyone else rescheduled their work? I'm going in at 11am lol :p

Luckily I have a day off tomorrow, otherwise I would be doing the same. I just cannot decide if I want black or whit. Ordinarily I would go black, but my IP4 is black and that has been staring at me for over 2 years now. But white is a bit flash for a man, arrrrgh decisions.

See if you can get one of them adapters from your local Three shop tomorrow
And get snipping.
If it works in your current iPhone it will work in the ip5.
If you mess up you've got time to get a replacement before ip5 is out.

Then when you get your ip5 all you MAY need to do is sand the back.

I've never pre-ordered an iPhone before, and i don't know whether to pre-order or queue at an apple shop on release day.

Also, i'm guessing if i was to pre-order that the phone will be dispatched on release day, is this true? If so, i'd probably go for queueing as i'd rather have the phone on the release day rather than it being delivered a few days later.

Does Apple not offer a reserve for store collection on the phone before the actual release day?

If anyone has queued for the launch of a product before at the apple store let me know how bad it was and what time people started queueing just so i know what to expect and what time to queue.
 
If you pre-order it will be delivered next Friday. No need to queue.

I can't guarantee what time it will come on Friday because it depends on the courier but it will be delivered on release day.

As far as I know there is no in store collection in the UK.

It'll be shipped a day or two before launch, with the shipping company under strict orders not to deliver it till release day. I've done this several times now and it has always turned up on release day. As long as you get your order in the first few hours you should be fine.

I'll be at the ready for when pre-orders start.

Do Apple ship to the cardholder address or the shipping address on your apple account?

Been watching this thread for a while and thought I would catch up on anything I missed since 2am ish, not a lot apparently. Just checked store and its down so will keep an eye out and be jumping on those phones as soon as page changes! :D

It is usually down for a few hours before a big release. I expect they are adding extra servers into whatever setup they have to split load/testing whatever they have isn't going to suddenly crash or fail when put live on the actual servers due to some obscure difference from their development setup. I'd say we are on schedule for 8am.
 
Hi peeps, just been spending the last hour reading this thred. Been on the grave yard shift and finished at 4 just trying to stay awake for my preorder.

Went into tmobile yesterday regarding the nano sim and the lad told me to check back next week.

I really don't understand why the networks didn't have these sims ready last week.

I'd guess because at best only the people right at the top knew for sure it would be nano-sims. While we all suspected would you like to be the company that upset Apple when one of your employees leaked that nano-sims were being shipped out to stores ready for Wednesday? Next time you might not get told anything till release day, and look how slow they are now, how much worse would it be then?

Ooo, and T-Mobile, Orange & EE just sent out emails saying they have preorders from 8am. Guess that confirms the time that Apple has decided on for everyone. Don't think we had seen anything to confirm the UK time before now. Seems weird they only gave 2 hours notice.
 
Yeah I just got that email too - how odd! 2 hours notice is just a bit silly!

Ooooo the apple store is down :D I'm guessing it'll come back up dead on 8am?
