Do you guys know if I can buy a phone from Tmobile (or EE when LTE launches) with a new phone number and then in late december port my O2 number over to EE??? I still have 3 months left on my sim-only deal.. but really feel like having an iphone5 (currently iphone4 owner) with LTE speeds.

Do you think EE will offer reasonable data caps?
1gb for LTE sounds ridiculous..

Unless things have changed very recently, yes, you can port into t-mobile at any time, they don't care. I ported a number into them about 14 months into a contract once.

The Reserve page is back to saying reservations are accepted between 9am and 5pm, looks like they'll be taking reservations again tomorrow.

Yeah saw it

I guess folks will have another unsuccessful reserving marathon courtesy of Apple.

I suspect nothing will improve or change.

If I want to buy an iPhone 5 from an apple store on an O2 contract, does anyone know if they have the same deals as the O2 store/website, eg. £26 tariff for unlimited minutes & texts and 1GB for £250 16GB?

It doesn't mention the prices on the apple website

Tried my luck with reservation. Maybe it will be easier to get the 64 version.
This insane. Should have gone and queued on the launch day

Ok,

made reservations in all London Apple stores, Milton Keynes, Birmingham and Brighton with different emails

also made reservations under the name of 2 of my friends

If nothing comes up then I have no other option but give up on Apple.

Sorry guys I was just repeating what had been said earlier in the thread, and the general consensus was that single reserves had had much more success.

That said if the evidence is no longer there, off I go on a random reservathon!

This is absolutely FALSE.

I made 5 reservations from the same computer and a few of them under the same name and email and got a successful reservation.

Unfortunately I accidentally clicked "Contract" for that one so I couldn't use it.

There doesn't seem to be the same restrictions of supply on contract phones. Since you can't really buy them in bulk and resell them on (you'd be stuck with the contracts still and they would be SIM locked), I'm not sure that your experience is any indication of whether or not multiple reservations do or don't work.

I don't think there was consensus on this, just a suspicion that this might be a factor. I pointed to the thread on AVforums where successful reservations were reported to be made after making 12ish attempts from the same computer.

I think what my situation proves is that there are iPhones out there but only on contract.

Since I used the IP/email address it didn't void all my reservations. That's my point.

Multiple attempts from the same IP address on the same day will be disregarded and you will not be successful.

Think about it! If not, you could use thousands of name variations per day from the same ip.

Also, don't use public hotspots, especially ones in apple stores where thousands of people are trying to reserve each day

Apple sure know how to torture its customers. How could they underestimate their projections like this?

Worldwide demand is insane but I really don't really see the problem. If you order on-line then they specifically tell you that your phone will be delivered in about 4 weeks, they given give you the date of when it will be delivered! So they are telling customers when they will get their orders.

For example, I ordered another iPhone 5 for a relative on 22nd September and it has stated since I placed the order "Dispatched: 3 - 4 Weeks Delivers 23 Oct, 2012 - 29 Oct, 2012"

So Apple have set the delivery expectations quite clearly and I am happy with that.

It's very easy to get a 5 on contract. Sim free is where the problem lies

It is not.

Link/Source? The baseband in the A1429 international model has been shown to be the same Qualcomm MDM9615M, which is quite capable of CDMA/EV-DO. The RF transceiver is also the same Qualcomm RTR8600 which can be software configured to support various combinations of 3GPP bands.

If the hardware was different, surely there'd be a different model number.

I don't think the availability of contract phones was ever in doubt. This is the most frustrating thing for people, as it's the same stock held by Apple. The lock status is applied at the point of sale, it's just how they have chosen to allocate the stock, in this case, biased towards contracts - probably because they'll get the cost of the phone from the network AND commission for connecting a new contract. WIN-WIN for Apple.

Well yeah at last it's back up for reservations.

I make one reservation and bide my time.

Wether apple filter out multiple requests by way of i.p checking I don't know.

So they are only checking the IP address for Sim free? Not if you make a contract reservation?

Where are you getting this information?

There is no need to place restrictions on contract iPhones. Also no need to safeguard the reservations for contracts.

Oh well by 0902 I had placed reservations for SIM free 32GB black & slate's in Milton Keynes, Leicester and Birmingham. One in each store. If they disregard my order for trying to get a single unit from at least one of those stores, a bit harsh really.
