UK iPhone 5s and 5c Thread

I suspect that sending them abroad to countries with high demand and further down the release schedule is more profitable.

I think you are correct, and that's why there are so many complaints of Asian scalpers, a lot of what they will be buying will be for sale in Pakistan, India and the Middle East. The phones will probably be flown out and on sale in shops in places like Lahore and Islamabad within a day or 2.

I know it happened like that in previous years, and the only way to prevent this sort of scalping would be for Apple to release on the Indian subcontinent in the first wave of releases as well.

well the price at which they are being sold in pakistan is less than what we paid at apple store UK. the exchange rate of Pound in pakistan is very high.

32GB Grey ordered at 00:00 still showing as Preparing for Dispatch but the Apple Order number brings up the tracking details in UPS. So looks like they'll be shipping today.

Hasn't got as far as mine yet, but am pleased that they're not all stuck in limbo and there's some movement. This presumably shows that they are all still in China.

The UPS info for my 2x 16gb golds shows a ship date range for them both as: 08/31/2013 - 09/28/2013 so a bit strange. Fingers crossed today they will ship..

That makes no sense, a friend of mine who has family in Pakistan says that the phone shops in the malls in Lahore have been charging the equivalent of £800-£1000 for the 5s.

Sill no movement on my 64gb silver :( was hoping to wake up this morning to a different status to look at!

I think I've only seen one person post that their 64gb silver has changed, so I guess I'm not the only one stuck looking at the same boring status!

I'm in the same boat. I saw that post earlier too. I'm still waiting for the status to change on mine. I don't think they are being processed in batches like some have said. I'm sure there are other 64GB Silvers that have had movement which haven't been posted on these forums but it seems like the orders are being processed randomly.

not anymore bro. in the start it was the going rate. but now it has decreased. mainly due to china and Hongkong.

here is the one line. the iPhone which i bought from apple online store is costing me 92500PKR and this website is selling for 85000PKR.

Of course it makes no sense! They are being sold for greater than the uk price. An added bonus is that the scalpers claim back vat at the airports! That's an extra £90 to £120 bonus

You misunderstand my post, I am saying exactly what you have said.

What didn't make sense was this strange answer, where he tries to say that the are selling for cheaper in Pakistan than the UK.

and i did tell you that most of the phones are getting from china and hongkong. in hongkong it costs 450 pounds. you can check yourself. so basically they are not getting it from UK. scalpers are getting them from some other country where it is cheaper.

Even if you are on the streets of Pakistan and they are selling them for less than what they paid in the UK, you have to bare in mind so many other things....

- We don't know what the supply chain of these organised groups is.
- Phones being sold on the street in Pakistan might not have come from the UK market.
- They may already have buyers lined up somewhere else that isn't quite so obvious.
- The Phones will also be going to far more countries than just Pakistan.

The biggest point is though that if there was no profit to be made, they wouldn't be doing it. Its not like its something that has just been chanced either, we have seen this with the iPad 2 launch, iPhone 4S and iPhone 5 launches and it just continues to grow.

exactly thats what i am trying to say. very well written.

Taking an iphone 5s out of the UK and reclaiming the VAT at the airport makes the UK price £457.50.

Was in the queue at Arndale this morning too. Arrived at 7am and already 25 or so in front of me, mostly scalpers constantly on phones to Trafford Centre buddies. Pretty obvious there were only a handful of genuine buyers out of the 50 people there.

Wanted a silver and gold but only Space Grey from what I gathered. With the October national holiday starting Tuesday, supplies will likely be constrained for a bit longer.

After a bite to eat, ordered a 64gb Silver (from CPW for Monday and will unlock via Three PAYG) and picked up the last black 5s case from the Apple Store. The Mrs will happily wait for the gold to come back in stock.

Can you buy the 5s in the UK yet? I'm around the Guildford/London area (just South West of London) – nearest 4 Apple stores don't have stock.

Any suggestions? I'd rather not order online due to the hassle of being around for delivery, and returning it if (when?) it arrives damaged. Also..."October" is a little vague.

Was rather hoping to pick one up this weekend.

Thos scalpers were horrible. One tried to sell me one of his tickets for £100! They looked awfully dodgy and did not feel safe leaving the apple store. The apple staff did not help either, they don't care who they sell to, just as long as someone buys it, real apple customer or dodgy scalper, it doesn't matter to them.

I imagine we'll get them about Wednesday if they ship today or Thursday if they don't, it takes about 3/4 days on UPS expedited from China.

I seem to have some tracking info now, apple still says preparing for shipment though so it's probably about to be collected.

Goto :
http://wwwapps.ups.com/WebTracking/track?loc=en_GB&WBPM_lid=homepage/ct1.html_pnl_trk

choose track by reference,
reference = apple order number

Destination: UK

Postcode: your delivery postcode

then you get a tracking number at the top :)

Thx for the tip!

By the way, copied the number on the "notes" of my ipad, which then gets synced to the notes app of the iphone, wanted to select it to then paste the number in a tracking app i use, touched the reference and ios7 asked me whether i wanted to "copy etc." or "track expedition", and choosing tracking sent my straight on to the ups section with label entered etc.

Dont know if its a new feature in ios7 or if its always been there, but was pretty "magic" :)
