Possibly, although Apple haven't chartered any planes as far as I can see so these are just normal UPS services. If they were to wait to combine shipments, they may have issues in delivering other normal services so it would make sense to just send them over as soon as they can.

Possibly, although Apple haven't chartered any planes as far as I can see so these are just normal UPS services. If they were to wait to combine shipments, they may have issues in delivering other normal services so it would make sense to just send them over as soon as they can.
They also cant load a plane up with just phones. That many lithium ion batteries are not allowed to be carried in one go after UPS6 went down due to a litium ion battery cargo blowing up and killing everyone.
Maybe a few pallets but not loaded to the gills.
Seems like a couple of 32GBs gold have shipped to the US recently (yesterday). Hopefully ours have been built and really soon also ships.
The limitation on lithium ion battery's only looks like it applies to passenger palnse carrying cargo in their hold, according to Wikipedia flights that are cargo/freight only don't have the same restriction
Just be careful about them forcing you to get a 64gig one. Went into one CPW store and they insisted that those are the only sizes they can sell without contract. Went straight to another and picked up a 32gig model instead.
But psynnott's iPhones UPS tracking (post #3754) shows:
04:20 - Arrive Newtownabbey
03:24 - Depart Castle Donnington
02:29 - Arrive Castle Donnington
02:05 - Depart Cologne
22:46 - 29/9 Cologne import scan
19:15 - 29/9 Arrive Cologne (same flight from Dubai as a lot of us)
So:
1) It looks like there was a flight from Cologne to East Midlands in the early hours this morning (but I guess that counts as Monday?) (I'm pretty sure Castle Donnington is UPS's East Midlands Airport base).
2) Our orders might not move until 2:05am tomorrow but could still be out for delivery the same day (as was the case with psynnott).

I feel your pain. One can only hope, that Apple has a special agreement with UPS to ship out phones during the holidays...
Which CPW did you go to?
Was that ordered online & collected, or outright store purchase?
Did you they agree straight up to sell the SIM free 5S or did you have to persuade them?

No I paid the same but for some reason me and other people who have ours shipped to NI already got ours.
Maybe the mainland to NI UPS cargo flights are less frequent i.e. there was one in the early hours today so the NI orders were fast-tracked out of Cologne to meet the Castle Donnington to Newtownabbey flight (as that might be the last one for a few days)? psynnott got lucky as it arrived early enough to go out for delivery the same day.
