Just received my replacement phone - the edge of the first one had a nick in it.

Well this one is absolutely perfect on the outside but has a stuck white pixel. Very noticeable on black background.

Hi,

Can those of you who received their iphones today check if the gyro issue is present? can you please post what week build it is?

Cheers

Got my phone today. I am woman so please forgive me! Tell me what I need to look for and I will give you the information. Exactly what is a gyro?

Open the Compass app. Swipe left and you get the level. This page explains how it works:
http://help.apple.com/iphone/7/#/iphb5af8af5e

Place your iPhone on a level surface (e.g. tile floor or kitchen counter usually good). What readings do you get when it is:
On its long edge (buttons on the top)?
On its short edge (power button on top)?
On its back?

Received today. My gyro is off by -4 degrees. Week 41.

Apple needs to do something about it ASAP. This is ridiculous!

Welcome to my world. Have gone through that process three times over. Ordered later than you though.

This sounds very technical, something like a woodwork lesson to be honest. Later on tonight I will look at this and post the results. Not sure why I need a level on my phone though? To make sure my handbag is level maybe? ;)

Thanks, looks like mines week 41 too let's hope it's not out by -4!!

Also on the invoice on apples online store I notice it doesn't include the IMEI number, do they send out a invoice with the phone that's has the IMEI on it? insurance asks for proof with that on it, so if I ever have to claim I will need it

At this minute I am proud to say UPS sucks. A delivery car came to deliver the phone. They did not come to my flat. I dont know where they go. They did not contract the reception or phone me and marked me that I'm not home. It's such an impressive service. I'm waiting for phone at a UPS branch at Sheffield now.

That really sucks dude. What's the plan now?
I phoned today to ask what was happening and had a bit of a moan. The apple rep actually said to me "we don't do good will gestures on new products" which was laughable and infuriating at the same time, I didn't even ask him for a good will gesture lol

16GB Gold iPhone 5S finally dispatched today around midday! Estimated delivery was the 4th of November but UPS are showing it as the 17th of October. Phone currently in Hong Kong :)

Week 41's still have the issues!!! So no hardware fix as yet

FWIW my week 41 unit is 1-2 degrees out depending on orientation compared to my 4S. However, I'm pretty confident at this point that it's a software issue, based on what some people in the main thread about this have been saying (the ones who are actually developers / software engineers, not the ones going "OMFG Apple sux its a conspiracy to give us all broken phones OMG!!!111!!").

One guy posted a very plausible explanation for the issue, which (IIRC) was that there's an iOS7 bug preventing correct reading of the calibration info from the sensor chips that is apparently embedded in the factory, which is resulting in the sensors being out to different degrees on different phones as each unit's chips need slightly different calibration offsets.

I'd be surprised if there's not a software fix in 7.0.3 or, at the latest, the next build after that. Time will tell I guess.

Just got home!

It's beautiful. :D

Haven't got a sim card yet though. It's gonna have to stay unactivated until Wednesday! :(

Well that sucks! What you going to do? Send it back? I'm regretting sending mine back, but I wanted it new from the box - you know like I paid for! I know the original has made it back, but the replacement is sitting at processing item, but with a delivery date of 18th - 22nd Oct still. I'll give them a phone tomorrow to 'remind' them ;)
