I ordered on the 25th (Space Grey 16G) and still have received no delivery dates. Was told last Friday on the phone to Apple that (1) the dispatch processes work on a strict first come, first served basis; and (2) my status should update in 'a couple of days'. No such luck.

Getting incredibly frustrated with this now.

I feel you buddy, atleast you don't have the 4th November date for delivery though. That's some consolation

u know its software how exactly?

Read the thread about it.

Plus, if it was hardware they would have fixed it by now rather than sending out millions more faulty units.

Plus plus. The data thrown out by the sensors is nothing without the software to interpret it. If it's wrong, you just need the software to interpret it differently.

you talk a lot :)

no one can say with any certainty if the gyro problem is hardware or software.
service units are not new units.
buying a phone from apple is not like having apple care for six years.

iphone 16gb gold ordered 22 september
today its changed preparing to dispatch and i was happy...just now back to processing and they have taken the money..what the f@cfdk is going on?

Exactly what happened to me!
No change yet...

16GB Grey

Have played with the new toy for last night and till now.

The Touch ID unlocking thing is just amazing, I did check the gyroscope, 1-2 degrees error, which is fine for me, will calibrate as saw in somewhere else to see if improved.

I don't want to touch my heavy Nokia Lumia 920 brick anymore, (it dropped and hit my nose several times, it really hurt, damn! Although I do respect Nokia's work:D)

Enjoy your phones or the waiting, it worth waiting for:cool:.

wtf? are you serious? im still at processing with order 22 september gold 16gb:mad:

Phone and complain. And complain good. This goes totally against what apple say ('First come first served'). Really unimpressed with apple's customer service this release. My order status has been all over the place. Terrible service.

Yes, although I didn't order mine through Apple, I ordered through EE. I've got a couple of Friends who ordered through EE also around the same time and they received theirs last week :O

That's why then, carriers seem to have plenty of stock especially EE. I ordered one as an upgrade and it came 2 days later but decided I wanted to buy one out if contract so sent it back, that was over 2 weeks ago

It's definitely easier to buy a carrier locked model than a factory unlocked phone direct from Apple.

Having unlocked has a lot of advantages though.

I've been on the same network for about 15 years, and don't plan on changing, so having an unlocked phone is no advantage to me

Ordered 64gb silver at 00:05 on 20th Sept from Apple online.
Status has been preparing for dispatch for the last 10 days.

Estimated dispatch still just states October.

Raging.

Remaining on a network isn't the whole story though (even though it's arguable that remaining on a network for such a long time makes no sense financially, there will undoubtedly be better deals available), having the ability to change sims when travelling or on holiday can make sense if you are a medium to heavy user.

Does anyone know if the stores are receiving a better supply of stock now - and if so, are they still selling in bulk to the 'exporters' or are genuine customers now able to purchase the phones?

They've never sold in bulk at Apple Stores, it's always been 2 per customer. Until the phone is available worldwide (or at least on the Asian subcontinent) you will still get the scalpers though.
