UK iPhone 5s and 5c Thread

Well despite my huge frustration with Apple (which I won't go into again), I've gone for the iPhone 5S on contract as Phones4U were doing the 64GB for the price of 32GB deal on EE that CPW were doing a few weeks ago. Phone arrives tomorrow.

Whilst I don't particularly like contracts, it's quite a good deal - works out at under £20 per month if you deduct the £709 handset cost (which I would've paid at Apple). Over the two years it's about £100 more than sim free and the separate 3G contract I currently have but I get loads of 4G data, as well as unlimited calls and texts (whatever they are?)

However, whilst not being able to find a replacement iPhone 5S, I did some research on alternatives and I've become quite interested in the customisation options for Android handsets so going to order one of them as a second handset and have a play around.

Now one more trip to the Apple store to return the unwanted and unopened 32GB space grey model.

I ordered a grey one along with a gold one on 25th Sep, the grey one got delivered on 14th Oct, but the gold just changed to Preparing yesterday like yours, according to my experience for the grey one, it took a week to change to dispatched, but I did see in this thread that people got this change within two hours.

Ok so my status changed last night from processing to Preparing to be shipped.

Just received email & it's now been dispatched !!

Ordered 9th October > 32GB Gold

Delivery date 4th November Standard Shipping.

Ok so I understand the delivery will need to be signed for , however I'm at work that day 09:00 - 17:00. Can my wife sign for it , or does it have to be me as it's in my name.

I ordered a grey one along with a gold one on 25th Sep, the grey one got delivered on 14th Oct, but the gold just changed to Preparing yesterday like yours, according to my experience for the grey one, it took a week to change to dispatched, but I did see in this thread that people got this change within two hours.

Just changed to dispatched within the last 15 minutes, although haven't had an email confirming yet!

If the last few weeks are any indication and it shipped today, you could see it delivered monday or tuesday, keep an eye on ups. Good luck.

I must admit 10 days seems a long time to be delivered , although appreciate it's not currently just round the corner.

I hope you're right, mine's been dispatched this morning too. I assume standard shipping is 3-5 working days but it depends on if it moves over the weekend, I guess.

I ordered on the 13th after a change of heart. It's good to see some movement! Hopefully mines going to have despatched by the end of next week and will deliver quicker than currently advertised 5-11th nov :/

I can track movement on the apple site , how do I on the UPS tracking. Is it just a case of on their website just put in the right number.

The apple tracking will show the long ups tracking number that starts with 1Z, if that's not there yet, try putting ur Wxxxxx web order number in search by reference on the ups tracking

My replacement gold 16gb dispatched today too (1st iphone was 'lost' my ups when it was out for delivery) it's by standard shipping :/ apple told be it would be the fastest one but it's the same as last time, also asked apple to send it via TNT (lost trust with ups) but doesn't seem apple hasn't done what they said :/ still, replacement was ordered Thursday and dispatched today is very fast, ups last time did get it out for delivery just 2 days after the dispatch so I guess it will be much sooner then the 4th November. Just hope ups gets it to me this time ordered 21/09/13


ADDED: I notice that the weight is different this time, last time the weight said 0.5kg and this time it's 0.4kg just wondering if anyone would know why??

oh cool, annoying thing is on UPS website it says scheduled delivery 4/11/13 which is a week next monday..... but it can change apparently. so anyone who's been through this process already: how long did it take to get to your house when you got the dispatch email from apple? thanks

I too was wondering with regards to movement on a Sunday. Unlike leaves on the line , or the wrong type of snow , I assumed rightly or wrongly that deliveries around the world were 24/7

I'd be happy with a Mon/Tue/Wed delivery , especially as still saying 4th November everywhere.

Does anyone know the order of countries these little light boxes normally visit before arriving at our door ?

Mine dispatched on a Thursday night. It moved to Hong Kong after a couple of hours. Then over the weekend, it moved to Germany, Castle Donnington then Stanstead. Delivery was made on a Monday. (The people who dispatched on the Friday, also received their phones on the Monday or Tuesday)

UPS tracking informed me all along that delivery was scheduled for Tuesday, this changed to Monday only after it arrived in Stanstead.

Apple tracking said all along that delivery was scheduled for Wednesday. That were obviously wrong. Apple tracking is slow to update so pay no attention to it.

As previously mentioned , I'm working Monday but off Tue & Wed. My wife has informed me that as half term she is out & about with daughter on Monday. Now I find this very selfish of her & how dare she leave the house & have this type of free time ##

Anyway , if it is Monday & I can get no one here to sign & my wife isn't here , what actually happens ? Do UPS take it to Royal Mail sorting office in the town you live in , or do you have to ring UPS on number doubtless on a card they leave , & arrange another delivery date. If that's the case , is it fairly soon after or do you have to wait days again ?

As far as I know UPS will attempt 3 deliveries. I've never come across an instance where they drop the parcel into local post office, although this would be great if they did.

If your wife misses them on the Monday they won't attempt delivery again that day.

If you go onto the UPS site you can see an option to rearrange/reschedule delivery (think it's on the top right). You might be better off requesting delivery for the Tuesday when you know you're in.
