Woohoo Fonebank just confirmed I have been given £300 for my iPhone 5.

Should help nicely towards the 5S!:)

Just got back from Manchester Arndale.

Sold out of 16GB's very quickly, then 32GB's and then at around 08:10 came the dreaded "No 5S' left"

First time in 7 years I haven't got one in the queue, so grabbed a coffee and ordered online!

I'll wait...

Hey Rob,
Seems like you've been featured on the MEN website.

Sorry to hear you missed out on your phone. Especially to alleged scalpers.

Just been to the Trafford centre Still plenty of docks and cases left. No 5Ss tho. Still a sizeable queue as they process the backlog. As elsewhere the majority are Asian men speaking to each other in something other than English and paying in cash for 2 phones each. I reckon if Apple knew stock was low they should have limited it to 1 per person. It would also deter those who just want to make a quick buck. The days of lines of true apple nerds is well past. They said they have plenty of 5C stock left and didn't know when they would get more 5Ss. Ah we'll not a totally wasted trip. Got a dock and screen protectors for when my online order arrives and switch my three deal to their £15 sim only offer. Was annoying tho seeing all those phones still waiting, but none were for me. :(

if you order on the phone you will get a text tomorrow with the 'time slot'. no confirmation email/text for me.

I did call back any hour later to confirm and it was ok.

I ordered a sim free 64gb 5S from CPW earlier, and rang to check everything had gone through ok. They said they'd picked up some kind of fraud thing with the transaction, and it turns out that the CPW aren't actually selling sim free iPhones. They told me the website was wrong, and that you'll be refunded if money's been taken. Sorry to be the bringer of bad news, I'm upset too :(

Edit: apparently some deal with apple that they aren't allowed to sell sim free 5S's yet

Ah lovely thanks! Home button looks different to the promotional pics, is the gold ring on the home button itself? I thought it was around the edge of the home button.

All you lucky people who already have the 5S post some pics godammit!!! I ordered from Apple so I have a long wait, and I already sold my 5 on eBay so now I have no phone for over 2 weeks :(

A colleague just went into a carphonewarehouse on his lunch and came back with a space grey 5S (on contract). This was woodgreen in London.

What case is that?

Well my sim free order has gone through, ordered online this morning, just rang them to confirm, and was informed that it's been dispatched and will be delivered by DPD courier tomorrow.

o2 still has all models of space grey in stock, everything else is 3-6 weeks delivery.

Apple seriously needs to require proof of residence of whatever country they're selling in on launch day. Some may call that 'racist' or use other provocative terms, but the scalpers are basically all from the Indian sub-continent and China. Launches that I've been too are like 70% asian people with bags of cash (sometimes LITERALLY) talking amongst themselves while they buy 2 phones each and flip them on ebay.

I've phoned twice to order a sim free one from CPW - first guy got all the way to the payment and the system would not take any of my cards (tried 3 cards all of which I know are OK) - he kept getting transaction error.
Second guy said they weren't allowed to sell the SIM free model so when I explained the first attempt he palmed it off on one of the "newbies" they have brought in to help with the (on contract) load. I asked him to try and the system wouldn't even let him.
Who knows whats going on there :D

Gold 32GB Coming Monday

First time i've not had the new iphone on launch day, clearly some supply issues this year.

Vodafone rang me this morning because I'd registered on their website for information. I told them I wasn't eligible for an upgrade for another 9 days but they agreed to waive that.

Switched to the Red 4G plan and im getting 12GB data, unlimited calls and txts for £57. As i'm currently paying for Spotify that's effectively £47 so i'm happy

and my first choice gold 32GB arrives monday :)

Nothing racist about stating a fact. Unfortunately there are far to many politically correct types in this country who get offended very easily and live in fear of saying something that may offend others.

For those of you waiting on your iPhone, which screen protectors did you get?
I'll have had the Media Devil ones for nearly a month before the actual handset arrives. :(

I ordered online, no problems at all. They're still selling them on their website sim free, with varying delivery dates for some models and colours

whats the feel of the leather case like? do you think it will get (dare i say it) majorly scuffed up, being leather?

It feels very nice, quite soft but with a good grip. Scuffing is possible, a couple of the reviews I read complained about it, but figured best to get a case straight away. And depending on how the battery and case holds up I may replace it with a Juice Pack case.

Thanks for the pics, the red case looks really nice with the black actually.

You're welcome. That was my thought exactly on the red/black combo

Is the case a nice tight fit or is it loose?

It's a good tight fit, very easy to put the phone in but snug once done.

Got my 64gb Iphone 5s in silver from the Bath store today. I was second in line so got the usual Apple camaraderie fun fanfare. Just fitted a Spigen Neo Hybrid in silver to protect it. Perfect fit and no issues with the camera lens/flash.
Finger print recognition works perfectly. The only issue with installing was that it didn't install iWorks, iMovie and iPhoto. I had to force the downloads
