I live in New Town but go to Edinburgh Uni so I walk by the building every day and it looks like it has quite a bit to go. I'd say it should be ready for the summer.

This hasn't been confirmed as an Apple Store though to the best of my knowledge! Lots of articles surmising but no official statement and people all said the same when the Urban Angels plans were being submitted!

Just left the trafford centre with 64 grey.

The apple guy said I was only the second genuine customer he's had all day the rest was scammers.

They still have stock of 64 grey and hundreds of iPhone 5C's. I think Apple dropped the ball on that.

The three store was empty. They were the only store that had stock last year.

Good luck.

There were signs and boards in use inside the 'building site' with "Apple Store..." designators - for deliveries and supplies. I should have taken some pics...

Plus this time, there have been job adverts for edinburgh.

Seems a shame that the networks are actually charging more than Apple for their 'sim free' iPhones (although they do lock to the first network sim you put in it, unlike buying unlocked from Apple). In years past they were cheaper - like the 3GS from memory was a good £50 cheaper than buying outright from Apple.

Just come home with a 32GB Space Grey from Phones 4 U. Went with EE on the £46p/m contract. Handset cost £109.99 but got £70 trade in on my Galaxy S2 :D. Also get a staff offer of 30% the contract which should be applied after the first month bringing it to £32.20p/m. Not bad for 10GB data allowance.

Now to ring O2 to get my PAC code.

I did exactly the same as you but went for the Silver/White one. The manager opened the shop up just after 6.00 so I could have a coffee and sit down before he let me take it away at 8.00! Don't get the discount like you but got the same tariff deal and have already given them my pac code from O2. I think O2 have really lost a lot of customers this time by not offering instore.

Went to my local Carphone (NW London) and they have stock but only for contract buyers.

Guess i'll wait then. But seriously Apple...shambolic. Make sure you have plenty of stock before you announce something for sale.

Quite a cock up by apple. It seems they knew they were going to be WELL short of supply so just tried to do what they could. I ordered 32GB gold at 00:02, no point worrying / getting angry now, it'll turn up when it turns up!

Anybody managed to get a Gold 5s from an EE store? Called up my local this morning and they said EE won't be doing the Gold until October, doesn't sound right to me the lady was adamant

From the sounds of it the only place that had gold from the start was the Apple store and even they had limited supply.

People have been saying that other carriers didn't have gold at all.

I'm in a queue on the phone to get mine, been over 10 minutes so far so figure you're right about them losing customers. Wonder what they did to piss Apple off.

I went to a Phones 4 U in a Currys/PCW (opened at 9). My girlfriend had to go by there for work round half 7 so I asked her to text me if there was a queue, there wasn't. I got there for 8:35 and was the only one waiting. Walked straight in and got what I wanted. Think a lot of people don't realise they do phones in there otherwise it wouldn't have been so easy. Apparently there was a big queue outside EE just down the road.

Got my upgrade from EE this morning first in the queue at half 7

No Gold however if you upgrade online it was giving me a Gold for Store collection on the 24th Sept

All you lucky people who already have the 5S post some pics godammit!!! I ordered from Apple so I have a long wait, and I already sold my 5 on eBay so now I have no phone for over 2 weeks :(

I'll see if I can order a Gold online when I get home then for a store collection, does it tell you before the order completes when it will be delivered?

I called Car Phone and they only do contracts or upgrades atm.

EDIT:

Strange I can see the web page now, anyone ordering from them?

I had a call from them earlier, and just rang them back at 11am.
Ordered myself a 32gb grey for delivery tomorrow.
As others have said, £50 more expensive than apple and locks to the network of the sim you first put in it - not a major issue, can get it unlocked easily enough (I think.. unless Three are fussy).

I queued at Covent Garden from 6am. By 10am all 5s sold out and I hadn't even got close enough to see the Apple logo sign on the store! Definitely frustrating to see people walking past that had managed to work their way up the queue from my position holding their purchases!

Just curious... How were people moving up in the queue?

Cheers!

The very back of the queue was initially unmonitored and didn't have the crowd control fences. Eventually the apple staff noticed people getting tetchy and redistributed the security.
