For those that order online on the 20th & are due to receive it in Edinburgh on the Monday, I wouldn't count on it. It's a public bank holiday then.

But if the courier depot is outside Edinburgh, then you still have a bit of luck I guess.

No, the public holiday is Monday 16th (Edinburgh resident here) so this won't have any effect on delivery of the iPhone.

However, I'm now realising my GTA V order might not arrive on the 17th..!

Three are nothing to do with EE, they just use the same band. (And Orange aren't doing 4G - you gotta go with EE for that). As they're nothing to do with EE, surely they should get shown on the Apple site as being compatible?

O2 according to this: O2 Community, they have secured Band 20, 800MHz. Apple's site shows A1457 has Band 20 compatibility... but next to it shows 800DD. Does anyone know what the DD stands for?

Well... O2 have confirmed it will work. So like Three, why aren't Apple showing O2 on the LTE page.

Apart from the fact that Three share the vast majority of all mast sites with EE (which is a merger between orange and t-mobile). EE is the 4G brand for orange and t-mobile who have currently decided to keep separate entities.

Three are everything to do with EE as they share the MBNL masts which forms the vast majority of the network.

In tandem with EE, MBNL have been turning off duplicated masts to form this partnership to save money. This has allowed all of the MBNL powered companies to launch more 4G coverage or at least high speed 3G coverage quicker, in more areas.

By the end of 2014 all of the planned old orange sites plus new sites will be rolled into MBNL running 3g and 4g. So coverage wise three will be adding between 4k and 6k sites, all ones that EE currently have but perhaps only at 2G.

Three as you know only run on 3G so once they are upgraded three get them too.

In return EE get to use some of three's masts.

Their equipment will be separate eventually with samsung installing the hardware. For now EE are renting 4G to three until samsung is ready.

I have owned every iPhone since the first, but i wont be buying a 5S. Not worth upgrading to for £549

Now that the 5 is discontinued, are there any deals out there on the 5?

Looking for a brand new white 16GB 5 on O2 or Unlocked. :apple:

Sorry about this! Got my dates mixed up. Looking forward to GTA V too! Get that pre-ordered in a store, I wouldn't wanna' miss it!

Who going to be queuing for the iPhone 5S in either Lakeside Grays, Bluewater Kent, or Westfield Shopping Centre Stratford?

No Pre orders! Apple has done us over!!

I was trying to imply that the company itself is completely separate from EE, and that it's not another brand of EE (like Orange or T-Mobile), which is why the omission of Three from the Apple LTE page is a bit curious :)

Didn't know that the mbnl partnership was extending to 4g as well - should make a nice large rollout for Three in a few months!

Possibly Bluewater, never queued, always used online pre-orders so not sure what time you can get there

Don't wanna sound like a broken record but it really does suck re the pre-orders.

Anyway, I'm a little torn.
I kinda want this as I really like the idea of the finger scanner, I love the gold and white and I always buy the new iPhone sim free as I am on a 12 month contract with Vodafone so sell my yearly upgrade and make my money back.

However, this time I'm not sure what to do.
I do not have any want or desire to go and queue outside a store for ages when I've always had my iPhone delivered on the day it comes out.
I also don't really have the money but selling my 5 would obviously help me out with that.

Does anyone know if the network carriers will have these phones for launch? Never gone down that route so unsure if they are likely to have any stock for me to possibly get one that way. I'm guessing if they do have stock for people to buy on the 20th, websites wont be updated prior to that date? I know a few people in previous years have bagged the new phones from network providers, but some of them never give anything away - as if they're in the dark about them having stock for launch.

Hmm. Much to ponder.

Lakeside is manic seriously bad with the 4S queue!

May go Bluewater or Westfield Stratford! Anyone shed some light on this, how their experience was with the iPhone 5 launch?

No problem. I've had it ordered from Tesco for months now so might be a bit late to change to store collection. I've actually just looked at the Royal Mail website to see that my postcode area, despite being in Edinburgh, isn't included in the local holiday on Monday. Also collections are as normal which suggests the mail centre is open for sorting. So I might be alright!

Anyway, back on topic.

I am planning to go with Three this time round. Mainly because of their data offering. I think it's going to be very interesting to see how the pricing differs between the two models. Right now you can get 16GB 4S for £33/month and £0 upfront on the one plan. I can't see them offering the same deal on the 5c so if they do introduce an upfront charge that might mean the cost of the 5s will also increase. What do others think? Of course a similar situation applies to the other carriers networks.

Gutted about not being able to pre-order :(
Guess I'll be heading to Lakeside on Friday morning.
Not sure what time would be best to get there for though.

What time you thinking of heading down? With the iPhone 4/4S I got there about 3/4AM and I had a 4/5 hour wait in line :apple:

Well I've owned every iPhone since the start and this is going to be the first one I'm skipping, I'm happy hanging on to my iPhone 5. I'm not paying those prices plus losing my jailbreak for just a faster CPU, dual flash and a gimmicky fingerprint sensor :p

Whereas I'm definitely in for the 5S...

No more typing in my passcode a zillion times every day!

are apple having a laugh? £469 is a budget phone?

It's not a budget phone, it's a premium phone.

Did you really think they were going to save hundreds of dollars by putting it in a plastic case?

And since when do people with limited funds buy phones outright? lets see how much they are on contract.

Indeed.
As far as I am aware it has not been marketed as a 'budget' iPhone. Certain elements of the media and internet momentum have pushed it as being a 'budget' iPhone.

Just got off the Phone with my local 3 branch, They said you can go into store on Friday 13th and Pre-Order the iPhone 5c and 5s.

Take this information lightly, it was 9am and they sounded hesitant on the answer.

Someone else may wish to try and confirm before it's added to the OP.

Been very disappointed with the Orange/EE 3G signal over the last 18 months - the fact that they were turning off masts (mentioned Above) may have something to do with it!

So was planning to jump in November when my contract as up, probably from 4S to 5s but e discussion of 4g bands suggest that EE will be the best on the 5s. Am I reading that correctly?

I'm also trying to decide where I should queue up for the phone. Thinking of Westfield Stratford or Covent Garden. Which one do you think offer better chances at the 5S?

I'm more worried about the stock. I know that the Covent Garden queue is going to be much longer but the stock must be larger as well.

It's the Fermi Paradox.
