Been away for a couple of days... any movement yet zetti?

Got a reservation yesterday and picked up my 6 plus. As for the status I think th 7 to 10th October batch have moved now but since I've cancelled my online one dunno about the 10 to 17 batch

Are stores getting any allocation for simple first come first served sales, or is it 100% through reservations?

Apparently they do, because I've just walked into Liverpool ONE store and walked out with a black 6 64GB! Woohoo :)

Thanks, will definitely buy from Apple.

So to recap:

1) without AC+ you get 6 years of standard warranty (really??? I didn't know!)
2) with AC+, you still get 6 years of standard warranty plus first 2 years of up to 2 accidental damages...?

Yeah as Merc said, don't rely on the 6 year thing. It involves a lot of hassle, which may include having to prove it was a defect at time of purchase (getting a specialist to look at it for a fee, having to recoup that fee etc etc).

Within 2 years though, and I assume this is an apple thing, they don't ask many questions.

Basically I had a iPhone 5 which was 18 months old. Took it in, said the screen was faulty and I believe it was covered under EU law. They sid immediately that it was, and when he did some diagnosis on it also said the battery was ****ed (I knew it was crap but....).

Said they could either repair it within 1 hour, or as it had multiple faults they'd just give me a replacement (brown box).

Obviously I took the replacement, and left happy.

Yes the accidental damage is great, and if applecare covered stolen/loss they I would buy it for sure, but ultimately it's pretty pointless for me as I'm 1) careful and 2) insured twice over already (house + free bank account insurance)

Maybe just hope not Monday else I won't be here. It left 6 pm in our time yesterday :)

I'll get accused for blindly being an apple fanboy, but apple really are pushing the units out this year. Reservations working semi-well, orders being pushed forward. Looks like they did manage to get a few phones available after all.

BTW, What are you guys who bought the plus yesterday thinking?

I'm happy with my 6, but I do feel it's not all that different to my old 5, and I miss that massive screen. I know the size hasn't changed, but I'm wavering now and wondering whether the black 6+ would feel better/look smaller than the white I returned.

I know I know.....

Woo! Mines on it way (from China)

Original delivery window: 10-17th October

Scheduled delivery: Tuesday, 30/09/2014, By End of Day

Very pleased

Errrr.... That 2 hour drive you were talking about..... You thinking what I'm thinking?!

No haha. That it could come whilst I'm out?

----------

Mine was dispatched at about 11.00 Thursday 18/09 from China, was delivered 0815 Saturday 20/09. Once they start moving they do not take long.

Mine dispatched in China about 6pm our time yesterday but couldn't track until 7am today so could be here Friday? :D

I was going more along the lines of kidnapping your driving instructor, using your phone while driving there to check stock availability, and heading to the closest apple store with stock.

What could go wrong?
I second that idea :D

OK, got the numbers to backup my AppleCare plus comments earlier.

The cost to get your iP6 replaced because of screen damage is £86.44.
£106.44 for the ip6Plus.

The cost of AppleCare Plus is £80 PLUS you have to pay a £55 excess for repair so the total cost to replace your iPhone under applecare is £135.

So if I damage my phone I can either pay £86.44 or £135.

Now, lets say you damage your phone twice in the year (you careless beast you). To get your phone replaced twice, without apple care the cost would be £172.88

With applecare Plus the cost of replacing your phone twice... £190!!!!!

Now, lets say your careful and you never need to get your phone replaced. The cost with AppleCare Plus is £80. Without... zero

Yup, seems very few knew about this. On release day the phones sold out online in minutes but when I went to reseve myself one at 6pm they had loads of all models (not plus) in all stores. For days you could reserve 2 phones of your choice at pretty much any store. I could have got 6 by the time they ran out.

According to most stores a lot still have the 6plus in various sizes available to order as of right now.

Don't forget, the accidental damage also incurs an excess. If you only ever use it once then you are actually out of pocket. AC+ is worth it if you make your 2 allowed claims in the 2 years.

The 6 year EU warranty thing covers manufacturing defects. It wont cover things like battery getting worn or wear and tear.

Personally would never buy AC+. It only goes as far as protection against damage and not loss or theft. I don't think many people realise but your phone is insured against damage and theft on your house insurance. Dropped my phone down the stairs, claimed on the house insurance. Excess was less too.

Of course, those phone insurance companies are not going to tell you this.

Thanks all for the accurate and prompt replies, much obliged. You truly are a nice bunch of people.

Called my home insurance provider and found out that I'm covered for accidental damage too (even away from home, and theft/stolen), so looks like I don't need AC+.

usually they will give you a refurb so you get a shiny new looking iPhone. If you have the screen replaced you could still have a dented scratched iPhone. My sisters iPhone 5C is scratched to hell and now she keeps it in a case. I told her if she had bought apple care + she could have replaced it if it broke and apllecare+ also covers water damage. For a lot of people the cost of applecare+ is close to a case ... or two

Received the 6 Plus on launch day, however I feel it's too big.

I want to return to Apple - however there is a small scuff in the paint on the bottom left corner from when it fell out of my pocket on to a hard surface.

Will Apple accept this still, and offer a refund, in anyones experience?

Anyone get a delivery from Three today?... I was assured today is the delivery day, however haven't got the delivery text from DPD this morning...three are acting absolutely useless on the phone, no reference to delivery but apparently showing as today for delivery on the Three systems...
