I ordered a space grey 16gb iPhone 6 from giffgaff on Thursday. It was delivered Saturday. Even though they promised next day!

They come unlocked.

The ordering process is a pita as their staff are overwhelmed. Not sure I'd want to tolerate that experience again. But they are getting stock!

I'm on the phone with apple now as I type....they took authorisation and have put a block for my money, yet I'm looking at waiting another week or so before it's likely to prepare for despatch....I'm so annoyed, as why would they request the money so soon if they weren't ready to despatch? customer services are totally useless at the moment. They authorized the money, and it's no longer showing as available funds in my account so I can't try to reserve a phone in the meantime, as I will get overdraft. To say I'm upset, is an understatement. The other day I was in Stratford Apple Store and saw lots of people buying multiples handsets, and yet we loyal fans who place a preorder a week before sales went live, are still waiting around like lemons :mad::mad::mad:

I don't think i will pre-order with Apple again to be honest.

Same here! Next time I'm gonna do the reserve option. I've seen absolutely no purpose in the preorder system, and the fact that they've requested and blocked the money for the preorder with no designated despatch date in the next few days, has angered me immensely. They should've at the very least made sure that the people who preordered on the first couple of days have some kind of priority. I spoke to customer services and they were useless. She admitted that to take the money so soon was unusual. So disappointed. The keynote and preorder system was a total joke this year, I fear their usually high standards are starting to slip :(:(:(

Totally agree, i was going to pre order but said 3-4 weeks, same night i bagged one on the reserve and picked up next day, ok may not get it on release day if you don't Que. but better than 3-4 week wait

I think reserving is the way to go even if it is a bit of a trek to the nearest Apple store.

The reserve option is better in the long run as you are bound to pick one up sooner then if you go by their totally useless preorder route!! I usually don't mind waiting, as it adds to the excitement, but this year, i can't help feeling they've made too many sloppy mistakes. Gonna ask to speak to a manager tomorrow as I've had conflicting information from their reps. If I had the funds still available, I would definetly go the reserve route. The way they've done it, I'm kinda obliged to stick with the preorder, otherwise I run the risk of a much longer wait if I had to cancel my preorder.

Print the screen repair page showing the cost as £79 and go back into the Apple Store with it (have the link handy as well, in case they want to see it live on their website), if the genius still persists with denying the screen repair cost as shown, ask for a supervisor or manager and escalate the complaint.

They should sort it if you are firm and friendly, push all the way to store manager if you have to.

https://www.apple.com/uk/support/iphone/repair/screen-damage/

Point out the bold bit:

I phoned the store again, who apologised and told me that because they couldn't offer a repair, I should have been given a replacement. All sorted now, for £79.
I have phone cover with my bank. However, the excess is £50, then another £7 to mail it in Special Delivery, then at least a week turnaround. For an extra £20ish it wasn't worth the hassle. Actually, my boss has agreed to pick up the bill as it happened at work, but I think £79 is quite reasonable for a screen replacement anyway.

Excellent news, I think the fact the £79 screen replacement is a new procedure might have caused the confusion, but still not an excuse for them, it clearly says a replacement can be given if they can't do the repair.

You should have asked for a free case to cover your costs for the wasted journey ;).

These prices are for AppleCare+ customers, I believe.

If it's dropped and you don't have AppleCare+ it is upwards of £200 - about £270 I think.

I went in with my badly scratched iphone 6 earlier today and asked for a screen repair. They didn't have the equipment so they swapped the phone for £79 there and then. No applecare, no genius appointment.

Well tracking has just updated to say early delivery on Tuesday 30th. Looks like it just left East Midlands now, so it sat there for 42 hours doing nothing :(

I wouldn't worry about what -Garry- said, it's quite obvious he didn't really know what he was talking about (and hadn't bothered to do the relevent research before posting his incorrect personal opinion).

After receiving my Plus on Friday and using it all weekend, I have decided to return it and go for the 6.

It's a stunning phone and I'm upset to give it up, but personally the size just isn't practical for me and my every day life.

I can't use it one handed without feeling like I'll drop it, and I don't want to have to put down bags of shopping if I'm out, or put my drink on the bar if I'm out for drinks with friends, or pause walking my shopping trolley in Tesco to check something on my phone etc. (the list is going to be endless for me).

If I had the money I would definitely keep it as an indoor, or sitting down device as the screen is amazing, and the size is great for two handed use, but that defeats the idea of a 'mobile' phone to me.

I'm jealous of all the people who the Plus worked out for. It's been a short but sweet weekend with it.

I hope I'm making the right decision.

Totally gutted!

I got my 6 today. I have to say the size is perfect, so on that note alone I have made the right decision.

The only disappointing thing is it does feel like less of an upgrade from my 5 than the Plus.

The screen of the Plus (to me) was more noticeably crisp, and I liked the landscape extras too - still, I have an iPad mini for that so no bother.

I'm sure all the features of the Plus will be incorporated into smaller screened devices in iPhone generations to come so for now I am happy with my choice.

Has anyone else made the swap? What did you think?

I'm working 8-4pm typically. Gonna find out what time the UPS depot near me shuts and I'll check the delivery status online before I head home - if I have time to pick it up from the depot then I will! :)

Hopefully the driver will be cool to drop it through the window! (They then tend to just put a squiggle for the signature, haha)

6 Vs. 6+ Availability

Is it me or does it seem that the tide is changing on the 6 Vs. 6+ availability balance?

I've just noticed that over the last two days there seems to be more 6+'s available on the reserve system than there are 6's. Been monitoring iphone6stockchecker.com every so often each day throughout the day/night since launch and it seemed that 2/3 days ago the 6+ was far less available and were somewhat gone within moments of becoming available.

Interestingly is if you order any 6+ from the apple site they are still advertising an estimated delivery time of 3-4 weeks. (I say advertised as I know many have had theirs brought forward)

Can't quite put my finger on it but was wondering if it's due to as the 14 day return window closes there's now a sudden influx of 6+ owners wanting to switch to the 6.

For those still waiting for their phones to be delivered, fingers crossed they'll come sooner or later. For me:

Order Date: September 19th

Original Apple Delivery: "3-4 Weeks" October 15th - 22nd
Revised Apple Delivery: October 7th - 10th
Apple Revision: October 3rd
UPS Revision: October 1st
UPS Final Revision: September 29th (assuming it does come today)

iPhone 6 64GB Space Grey.

Will be super chuffed if it does arrive today!

I wish mine took that route it dispatched Wednesday says Tuesday delivery and hasn't updated over the weekend since it departured Poland Friday. Hopefully updates and says out for delivery today

Just bagged a reservation at store (Leeds), what a weekend it's been, managed to pick up one of the last classics at Argos, opened it Saturday, now I'll be selling it and the iPhone 5 and replacing them both with a 128GB iPhone 6.
