Right people,

I need some advice. I managed to get my phone on Friday, with no thanks to the shambles of the pre order system. Judging by others on here, I would still be processing.

My phone is still in the box, not even set up yet

(crazy right).

I have done a fresh clean install of mavericks last night. Ready for Yosemite. And trying to get all my icloud and iTunes just right, ready to sync my phone.

My question is, I have 2 months left on my EE contract and I want out. I have been looking at three sim only deals and they look very attractive.

Trouble is, I don't know anybody who has experience in what their network is like. Don't really pay much attention to google reviews as it's full of complaints like any network.

I hear they share most towers with EE, is that correct?

I was thinking of starting up 2 plans. One for my iphone 6+ and one for my wife, an iPhone 5c pink.

I was then going to either pay off my EE contract or let it run it's course.

I don't want to make any rushed decisions though. I have bipolar so I tend to do that a lot.

Like dragging my wife on a 90 mile round trip at 3pm on a Friday afternoon so I can spend £789 on a phone.

Luckily I have a very understanding wife.

Though I did feel a bit embarrassed when we were standing in the reservations queue and turned to my wife to see here scowling into the apple store. I asked her what's the matter.

She replied.... "What a bunch of sad old men, I bet that would be you dream job wouldn't it?"

I just smiled ")

Hi, hope you're enjoying your phone now, how do you find the size of the plus?

I thought I'd let you know of my experience with 3. I've been with the network for many years now and Ive had a sim only 12 month contract for over a year or so. I previously had their Pay as you go sim. I love their sim only deal, as I currently pay £15 a month, and get something like 3000 texts, 600 minutes, and unlimited data. This works out perfect for me, as I use a lot of data. The only problem I've ever usually encountered is with low signal. Unfortunately where I live, there is a low signal, so call quality isn't the best. I contacted 3 and they sent me a box to attach to my internet box and it helps with call quality as it runs off the wifi signal whilst I'm at home. 3 have also recently introduced a new app called 'three inTouch' which works off the same principal, using your wifi signal to help improve call quality, when the signal is low within your home! I've been with O2 and orange in the past, and can honestly say I'm extremely happy with Three. their customer service has been very good, and I've found their coverage to be good too.

I've never been tied to a contract, as you usually end up paying much more over the contract term, plus you are tied down for the term too. If you can do it, I always recommend buying the phone you want sim free, and getting a sim free deal that suits you. You pay more initially, but in the long term, you are better off, and can change the phone, as and when you want.

Three UK don't have a good signal anywhere other than in towns. They don't share all mast with EE just a few selected ones. I live in the countryside and find EE is the best signal up and down the country (I live in the Midlands, my other halfs family is in Devon and mines in the North West and N Ireland) so we travel about the UK a lot. We have no network signal at home with any network, but EE gave us a signal booster so always connected with them. Hope this helps but I've tried Three, O2 and Vodafone and have hated them all, except O2 has a great signal in the north west.

I too live in the Midlands and have had few problems with signal (Telford shopping centre by House of Fraser I never get one though, lol). Even in deepest darkest Cumbria I was fine and ended up with everyone else in the group tethering their devices to me as they had no signal (a variety of other providers). In rural North Yorkshire I'm fine too.

Xzentric, maybe try a payasyougo sim to begin with if you're concerned??

Good morning guys. Ordered 6+ 64 SG last Sunday 21st from Apple. Haven't bothered to check all week as been given approx delivery date between Oct 20 - 27th

Just checked for first time & still says Processing Items. I'm cool with that , as even though I want this beauty in my hand, I know it won't happen over night.

Anyway , for all those currently in , or have been in this situation , roughly how long has it been between Processing & the next stage. I guess it depends on colour , model & size etc , that's why I say roughly.

Regards

James

I ordered a iPhone 6 Plus, 64GB silver, last Saturday and it's still in "processing items" so i would say defiantly a week, it may be more like 2 tho. I'm hoping mine changes sometime soon. A few people on here have said that their phones have been dispatched/arrived, earlier than the estimated times 3-4 weeks so who knows.

Why not use the stockchecker to reserve one rather than ordering it online and waiting for a fee weeks. You can literally get it overnight igot mine the same day i reserved it.

yep i did the same, was waiting till wednesday gone until i got paid to order online, i did an online check just after midnight on tuesday, bagged a silver 16gb 6+ and picked it up on wednesday lunchtime. Very happy as would of had a 3-4 week wait going off online times although they do seem to be improving on these.
Ive done the online orders before for iPads etc but its made me think that maybe best way is to do the reservation if demand is huge like this, ok i won't get it on release day but I'm ok with that, just wait a few days. You would think apple would sort the online pre orders first before doing the instore reservations but I'm not complaining
ps love the 6+, sold my 5c and iPad mini and now have the 1 perfect device I've been after for years

Yeah from what i understand it seems like if your ordering online you have a high level of tolerance for waiting. The reservation system and the fact tons of stock shows up overnight and sometimes during the day makes ordering online now pointless especially at this point. I dont think i will be buying online unless its a 3-7 day one knowing you can reserve with ease.

Can't really comment on the technical side of the network but I've been really impressed by Three in the two years I've been with them.
I have a SIM only plan that costs eleven pounds a month and includes unlimited data.
I live in a small town about twenty miles from Birmingham, my signal at home although only shows three out of five circles is excellent. I receive about 9 megabits per second which I think is excellent for where I live.
Coverage in cities I've visited have been great with many having 4g coverage which is included.
I had a blackberry on orange for business use and 3g signal was on the most part weaker.
Before moving to Three I was with o2 for two years and their signal was awful where I was.
Best thing to do is get a SIM and try it out in your area I'm sure you'll be impressed.

I'm in the same boat as AmberLeigh and co mines been in the UK for a while now and not updated I just hope it's out for delivery Monday!

Same with me. Mine left Barking this morning so I am getting more and more optimistic that I will have it delivered tomorrow. Here's to hoping!

Has anyone tried to arrive early to their reservation? I can't be bothered waiting until later..

We did yesterday when my other half picked up a plus from cribbs causeway... We were only about an hour early but genius guy just asked for his name and scrolled down his list.

Not quite how it is, EE and Three share virtually all of the 3G infrastructure, this is via the MBNL network share agreement.

EE has more coverage due to the fact the network share doesn't include Orange masts not yet upgraded and brought into MBNL and also the legacy 2G network that is yet to be upgraded belonging to both T-Mobile and Orange.

The EE 4G network is also a seperate network from the EE 3G network, and also outside the share agreement.

Also, to say Three don't have coverage outside of towns is totally incorrect.

DPD are supposedly delivering mine today but their tracker hasn't been updated since midnight when it left Birmingham so I have no idea where it is. I daren't go out, it's driving me mad!

This whole thing has been infuriating from start to finish. 24 hours later and the DPD tracker still says it's on its way to my local depot. However, yesterday it gave yesterday's date in big letters as the delivery date so I waited in all day and nothing. It's a complete joke.

Anyone with me? :p

How are people finding their phones?

I'm loving my 6+.
Sold my 5S and iPad Air and find that the 6+ does the job of both very well!
I'm also sure the user experience will only get better as devs utilise the iPad-style landscape features too...

I ordered an iPhone 6 Plus 64GB silver at 9am on the 12th online from Apple, it's still "processing":(
