Tell me about it, I can see why banks think its fraud... near £700....My order has also now changed to preparing for dispatch, and payment has been taken "ouch"

This happened to me last year when i ordered my 6, I'm with HSBC. Should still be fine, will change soon I'm sure. I got mine last year on release no problems.I preordered Saturday morning and used Apple Pay. Had a notification from HSBC at about 4pm today saying it was declined. Then got a txt from HSBC saying ring the fraud detection team... They went through a few things and security and recent transactions and I confirmed everything was OK. They then said this transaction would go through if I try it again.
I went to my order status page and it was Awaiting Payment. I changed the details from Apple Pay to my bank card and put in all the details etc. Order status has now changed to Processing Items again, but not changed to Preparing to Dispatch yet. Does this mean HSBC have screwed me and I'm likely to miss launch date?
I reattempted payment and it went through
I phoned Apple directly to do thisYea I tried that and it failed. I must have entered the details wrong. I don't have the card with me so I just put it on a credit card and it looks like apple aren't trying for payment instantly.
I phoned Apple directly to do this
Ditto. UPS alwaysThe past four Apple online deliveries were from UPS...I hate UPS because all my deliveries from them were late in the day. 5pm-6pm we are talking here.
If I get UPS again, 90% chance I won't get my phone until 5pm onwards.
I have been told it is, no reason to not feel confident, ordered in time, and it was still in stock, granted I have a Silver 128GB 6S Plus.Lol so confident its coming Friday...
Also bare in mind the banking times, its near 6 so maybe it will be taken tomorrow nowI just did it through the orders page. Spoke to apple chat and they said authorisation has been made. Weird.
Yeah but for 25th not THIS Friday...I have been told it is, no reason to not feel confident, ordered in time, and it was still in stock, granted I have a Silver 128GB 6S Plus.
A bit of clarity on the situation based on what I've understood from various posts on this forum over the years:
*Genius Bar stock is an exception. Apple carries both the unlocked and auto-locking iPhones for warranty replacements. Apple-bought phones are replaced with the 'truly' unlocked phones, but network- and third party-bought iPhones are replaced with the auto-lock type**. This is why if you get an iPhone replaced at the Genius Bar the Genius is extra sure to always put your SIM into the new phone for you - to make sure that it auto-locks to the right network.
- iPhones bought directly from Apple at the full retail price are unlocked*
- iPhones bought through third parties lock to their first network for convenience: CPW resells for many networks so stocking phones already locked to each network would be impractical. So setting them to auto-lock makes it easier for third parties to stock phones for all the networks they sell. It's not just to f**k over the customer
- iPhones bought direct from networks are already locked from the moment they leave the factory, they don't auto-lock. This is because Apple knows which network they've delivered the phones to, so can process the lock themselves before sale to consumers
**Unless your network- or third party-bought iPhone is already unlocked before the replacement.
Actually if you take out a contract phone from cpw then it will lock to the first sim but if you buy a sim free iPhone from cpw ( same price as buying from apple to buy sim free) then the phone remains open to all networks forever.
I know... next week !!!Yeah but for 25th not THIS Friday...
I can confirm that too from CPW, got mine unlocked from o2 todayNot quite correct, CarPhoneWarehouse is the only source of the lock to first sim card stock. This applies to network contract, PAYG and "sim free" stock.
Apple, Three and Giffgaff sell the always and forever unlocked version.
Networks (other than the above) sell locked to the originator network.
Any Genius Bar replacement will always have the same lock status as the unit being replaced, so locked with locked and unlocked with unlocked.
This is wrong, all CPW stock is lock to first sim, even their "sim free" model.
Mines preparing to dispatch. Does that mean we'll get them early?
My card company are use to it on a yearly basis around this time.Tell me about it, I can see why banks think its fraud... near £700....
But debit? My card company are use to it on a yearly basis around this time.![]()
Ditto. UPS always
Get to me late in the day. The. It's always a stress about if it gets too late will the driver just not bother and go home with it gets too late. Probably more a Yodel trait
It has happened in the past but its rare. More likely it will sit in your local sorting hub until goes out for delivery
But then wheres the hype in that?!If Apple have them they should just allow us to have them, would go down well with all those who choose to preorder directly with them.
But then wheres the hype in that?!
Dont think so, dont know how to get to that tbhAnyone have the iPhone in their support profiles yet?
