For those of you that are stressing and pulling your hair and limbs out, here's my current view... :D

A somewhat insensitive question:

I ordered a iPhone with O2, signed all the agreements, etc. It's an upgrade on a pre-existing contract. Haven't taken delivery, or received an 'on its way' notice.

Can i cancel this order? Even just the phone part - now that it's billed separately? I will ask them direct, but just wondered if there was anyone in a similar boat.

I wrongly presumed an unlock would be simple. Kind of think i want an unlocked device. I may just have to sell it instantly and hope to get close to Apple RRP to buy one from them.

Just had an email from Vodafone about a number that I don't recognise, telling me that over 18 content is blocked unless settings are changed. Wonder if that means a phone is on its way?

I'd blocked Mobile Data abroad and MMS for domestic use and have had texts to tell me the services have been turned back on.

Here's hoping we get our shiny new toys tomorrow!

Ok, now I can tell you the nightmare I've been living this morning, as everything has been sorted out and I'll get my devices tomorrow.
Got a delivery from DPD and one from UK Mail.
This morning I check the Apple Store app (as usual) and find out that I gave them the wrong postcode: both the phones were already dispatched!
Chat with Apple, they say they would change the address but probably I'd get them delivered on Monday.
I try tracking with UK mail, no luck for some time. I try typing the right postcode and it actually works.
I then start harassing DPD costumer service which in the end manage to change it.

I registered online but didn't receive a code to my address to register. I can still access UPS My Choice through their app.

Sorry I can't really help with the rest of your question, but selling an iPhone that's on contract is a bit dodgy.

It's still technically O2's property so it's not yours to sell (yet). If you, for example, tried to sell it to a recycler they'd do a check on it and it would have a finance flag and they'd reject it.

The Apple support document you linked to in a previous post said after the restore you needed to use an archived backup? That would mean my device was reset to the day I upgraded to iOS 9? Can you explain how you did the downgrade because it sounds different to Apples own advice. Sorry for being so stupid  it sounds like you did not need to use a backup but just changed the iOS version ....

Hmm, OK - now I'm questioning myself; I think I did it from iOS 9 final public beta to the release version - that might be different to going from iOS 9.1 back to 9. Sorry, I may have led you "up the garden path" there...

Ask O2! :p

You sure? I've always sold phones after 12 months and never had a problem. Two of them have been o2 recycle.

John Lewis are excellent, however they don't take opened electronics back unless they're faulty as far as I know. Apple however, will let you open it and use it taking care for 14 days.

Does anyone have any info on this?
If you ordered online you may be better off as the distance selling regulations allow you to inspect the device? I'm unclear how far that goes bit certainly u boxing would seem ok. Wouldn't apply in store though

Will do crono87, but I'm still it sure how to do it myself! I've read the Apple support document linked to by the op, and it gives different instructions as to what their post said. Might just be me, but I've asked the op to clarify :) and will post my results

I've just sent my phone back from 9.1 PB to official 9.0.1 without using a backup (although I did take one). I deleted the PB profile, downloaded the 9.0.1 IPSW file and option clicked Update. Chose the downloaded file and my phone's software was replaced with 9.0.1 and all SEEMS fine so far.

There maybe some very specific circumstances where this is true, but typically in the UK the sale of the handset and the airtime are legally completely separate - even if usually the provider subsidies one against the other.

Once you buy the phone it is yours, in addition you may have signed a contract committing you to a spend with the provider.

Anyone know if I've any chance of my iPhone 6s Plus silicone case arriving from apple.com today? They say estimated delivery is today but the Syncreon postal tracking says it was only 'tendered for delivery' at 10am today. It was shipped on friday!

I'm sure the phone is yours but you are committed to the contract. Should that be ended early by mutual agreement the network might ask for the phone back to offset the cost.. Otherwise charge you more. Fair. But you can sell.

Some of the new yearly device change contacts may work differently. Not sure
