like many others in NI I have had a disaster with DHL. Got the message on DHL that it was handed to a 3rd party so no tracking. Had to nip out for half an hour and of course the taxi with the phone came when I was out. Spoke to them through my doorbell but wouldn’t leave it. Have left a card to reschedule but because it’s marked as delivered on DHL I can’t reschedule delivery. It also shows as delivered on my order with apple. Apple are telling me it must be delivered and to take it up with DHL. Last time I will be ordering direct with Apple
That’s crazy, I was lucky that I was in when taxi arrived.

Hopefully they will deliver it today.

Is there a number for the DHL depot?

Thanks to whoever recommended that “Shieldon” case from Amazon. It’s lovely! One the nicest cases I’ve ever used. Looks great on my black 17.

I just googled, and the leather cases look great! Decent prices, too.

Which colour case did you get? On the Shieldon website they show the white iPhone 17 inside their cases, and they look good. However, my iPhone 11 is white and I'm thinking of going back this time for the variety.

Have tried customer services but they don’t open until Monday. Not sure if it’s still sitting in the taxi or where it is! Finally got someone at Apple to at least understand what the issue is. Thankfully I have ring footage of me talking to the taxi driver and him saying he can’t leave it and walking away with it.

I bought the dark brown for my black 17, looks great. Honestly one of the best cases I’ve ever used feels so nice in the hand. Massively recommend.

My only complaint about my 17pro is the lack of notifications youtube is most obvious but I think others are a bit off too

Efficient pickup at Apple Birmingham. At 0845 must be 50+ waiting outside for store opening, maybe 70+ by 0900. Got inside sent to queue up and staff were proactively pulling people out the queue with no reservations.

I was at the back of the queue at 9 when they opened. I walked out at 0905 with my pick-up, can’t moan at that. Just an hour train ride home now before I can set up! 😁
I still preferred it when the Apple store was inside the Bullring. Enjoy your phone.

Did anyone on EE have to add their eSIM to the new phone WITHOUT ACCESS to their old phone (traded in or sold prior to getting new phone)

What was the process?

I’ve got a physical SIM but tempted to convert to eSIM. However previously to install the eSIM on the new phone it had to send a pin to the old phone, which you no longer had!

That won’t become a problem until I trade in the phone I just got, maybe next year, but just curious of process.

Cheers.

It might’ve changed, but I had massive problems doing this with my 14 to 15 Pro. Scared me off trading them in at the same time of purchase - I usually now have both old and new at home to set them up, then sell the old one privately and pay off any outstanding finance.

Yeah I had the same a few years back which is why I still have the physical SIM.

Compare this to my work Vodafone eSIM which is a reusable QR code I just scan and it works.

I just used my laptop, went to my account and requested a replacement e-sim and scanned the QR code on screen with my iphone.

Another one here having verification issues. Tried to change my password, but still nothing.

Guess I’ll just keep trying.
I was stuck on “verifying” for so long during the setup process that I had to switch the iPhone 17 Pro off. Couldn’t sleep as it was doing my head in, so I got up at 2am and tried again, having to change my password yet again in order to be able to proceed. Finally got it done about 3.15am and paired my watch and AirPods this morning. Never had all this faff before when setting up a new iPhone. And breathe………

Amazon are weird
Amazon is dead to me.

I ordered the very stylish Bose SoundLink Micro to pair with my Air, anticipating the single speaker wouldn’t be loud enough. (I was wrong. It’s plenty loud enough for my use-case: listening to podcasts in the shower.)

I got next day delivery. They are always super slow to send the trucks out, but I got a 12.30-2.30pm slot at 11am. This slipped and slipped. At one point “your driver has five more stops before you” to “your driver has some more stops before you” to “you will still get your delivery today”.

And then “your driver had a problem delivering to your address”. Which is nonsense. I live in a commercial building with giant signs outside and loads of parking. We get tonnes of deliveries.

But I’ve had this nonsense from them before. Especially on Fridays for some reason.

So I contacted Amazon and told them not to bother reattempting (well “re”attempting) the delivery and just to cancel the order.

Probably just as well. I allowed influencers and online posters to make me underestimate the Air. I don’t need the Bose speaker. Even if it is pretty.

So, yeah, in a day of four separate deliveries from four different companies, it was Amazon who fell short for me.
