I wanted a Spigen case but don’t like any the ones they have at the moment so this cheap one will do for now. I am. I’m going to pre order an air, upgrading (or more likely downgrading 😂) from a 15 PM
Curious about this. Is it the shape of the bump that puts you off or just that it has a bump?

it’s just how big it is. I obviously don’t mind a camera bump but it’s so stupid they make such a thin phone and then have a camera bump that is like twice the size of the phone lmao. Kind of defeats the purpose of having such a thin phone. It sticks out like a swollen sore thumb and looks ridiculous.
I hate it. It makes the camera bump on the other models look good.
It’s where they’ve placed the chip and all the other stuff so they can make the body so slim. I was tempted with the Air, just a shame there’s not any in depth reviews yet.
sorry thats what I meant - I’m on regular finance. So I can cancel applecare. So far the trade in prices I’ve had from apple (or mazuma/Music magpie) have been on par or slightly better than iup equivalents. Sure its conditional but works for me.
magsafe battery - I have an old anker one that my daughter keeps ‘borrowing’. So checking out the new anker ones - they have a ‘slim’ and a ‘nano’ but both seem to be the same size? Half the price of the apple one although I’m curious about how much slimmer the apple one is, I’m unlikely to use the phone while charging - I just slap the battery on and its in my pocket or table so I think cost wins out.
Curious how both apple magsafe batteries integrate more tightly - they report battery % to the phone, the phone will drain the external battery before the internal. Wonder why they don’t share that info with third parties so they can do the same

If the last few years are anything to go by, the delays in actually getting into the store at 1pm (1:20 for me last year) matter more and I'm not aware of any way of fixing that. What you do at preorder saves maybe 30 seconds? Suspect its more there to give apple 2 days heads up of what is most popular so they ship at least a reasonable ratio for launch day.
And a sympathetic virtual hug to the rest of us still waiting to get into the store after 20 mins :/
This is the very latest model (A1465) of an excellent Anker one — if you search Reddit, there’s a German guy who does detailed breakdowns of the differences between the various makers of these (some of his breakdowns have translated English writeups if you dig a little). I got this one for my girlfriend as a gift as it’s the slimmest and nicest design; but still well specced.

Yes, the email confirmation from Apple says that you just checkout a different finish at checkout. Obviously you can't change the storage/model etc.
Too late for this years pre orders now, but for a couple of years i used my work's 6% off Currys gift cards. Then used those gift cards to buy Apple gift cards from them, added them to my apple balance and then purchased the phone direct from Apple. Saved the 6% but benefited from Apple's customer service, guarnteed launch day stock etc.
Havent bothered this year though as it adds considerable extra faff over just going for 4% off Apple gift cards direct. Also the process wasnt always smooth, one stroe would only sell me £200 of apple cards as apparently theyd had issues with fraudulent purhases of Apple cards, tried to convince them otherwise but they werent having any of it so drove 20 mins down the road to the next one and thankfully they had no issue at all. Also I would buy them in £500 batches, so took 3 trips to get enough for the 1tb, for the sake of an extra £30 saving over the 4% (plus ive since moved and my nearest Currys is miles away) it hasnt seemed worth it this year, but maybe an option for someone next year that wants to maximise their savings or just something to do regularly to save on Apple One etc (i still do that as a way to get 6% off the subscription as it takes from your Apple balance before your bank)
