Officially my worst iPhone upgrade experience of all time - and I remember the iPhone 4 and 5 - taking a total of 3 torturous hours. Finally got my order confirmation through from O2 at 4pm on the dot.

iPhone Air, 512GB, Cloud White 🎉

Let's see how this baby performs and if I miss any of the Pro features. Can always swap out immediately or later this year if so. Stoked to take a punt on this new form factor.

Pre orderd the Silver Pro Max 512gb. 23-29 September 4 minutes into buying. Have got my Ryan London leather brown case arrive to drool over.

I've been trying to complete an upgrade with O2 since 1pm. I get as far as checkout, then I'm kicked out and have to start again. I tell myself every year I'm leaving due to this upgrade experience, it's the same or worse every year!!!

I feel your pain man. 😭 In the end I had to ring up - I had got to the credit check, with documents sent over contract-wise, then the site crashed (this was after 2 hours of looping through queues and crash pages).

On the phone, the rep was nice but it was a torturous, 45 minute call.

She had to start it all again, wasn't allowed to auto-agree everything, and had to read every single painful word of every single part of the process. Finally got there, and she sent my contract over to formally sign.

In comes the contract and I click the link to sign it and - BACK INTO A F**KING QUEUE for 15 minutes. Finally get it, tick the agreement and press Complete Order and.... yep, you guessed it, another queue.

Truly, utterly awful. But what doesn't kill you, and all that... 😂

Good luck with yours - hope you get it soon.

Oh jeez is it? I switched to an eSIM some a few months ago and will be trying to do a phone transfer in the Apple Store next Friday.
The problem is if you do the apple upgrade you have to wipe your old phone before they give you the new phone. To transfer an EE eSIM the process has to send a security text to the old phone with the eSIM first, which you obviously no longer have because you just wiped it!

EE really need to improve that process. The way they send you a text to authenticate a esim can be a pain when you don't have the original phone or if the phone has been repaired. It seems at least some other networks allow it to be done within their app or via email.
I have a vodafone eSIM with work. it's basically a never-expiring QR code I can just scan and the eSIM gets cancelled on any existing device (whether I still have it or not) and is enabled on the device i just scanned the QR code on.

That's not true.
Last year I was given both phones and an envelope. They let you sit at a table and give you as long as you need to move everything over before you put the old one in the envelope, give it to the person watching the table and leave.

O2 might finally be about to work for me.

Tried a bunch of times but it was telling me there was an issue with my switch up so I figured it was having issues.

Got past that now and it's loading into the checkout hopefully.

Do they not let you set up the phone next to the one you are handing back? You’d be able to transfer the eSIM over during the process and then wipe the phone. Is the process really different than if you’re exchanging a partially broken device in store? They make sure the new one is good to go then make sure you wipe the old one.

Not in my experience, or that of friends or colleagues that have been doing the apple upgrade since it came to the UK. You must be lucky.

Pre-order day went well for me today, thankfully. Last time I did this, for the iPhone 15 Pro Max two years ago, I couldn't get into the website until around 20-past and by the time I did, shipping dates had slipped.

This time around I was in and checked out by 13:02. And to my surprise it was the Mac on Safari that got me in and not the app. All ready for my iPhone 17 Pro Max in Orange for launch day :)

With O2 I get as far as trying to get passed stage 1 of checkout, the 'Your Details' section. When I click 'Confirm and continue' I get pushed to another page that never loads, then I get an Error 400, page doesn't exist. This is brutal!!!

Question guys and gals... I eventually successfully ordered a 17 Sage, paid for outright, to be collected on 19th Sept... my partner however opted to pay for his 17 Lavender via the interest free Barclays thing - he picked the same pickup day and time as me, but after he filled all the details it said Barclays just need to do a few more checks. If it all goes through will Apple honor his chosen pickup date and time?

You may need to just do what I did and ring up, mate.

The website/app is a torturous, senseless cycle of torment and I really am not sure you're going to get far quickly that way. At least on the phone they are able to complete the order.

I'm Vodafone and converted it to esim earlier in the year as I heard about the air possibly being only eSim so was getting ready early😅 In the end I've gone with the 17PM as I'd miss the extra cameras. I still have the email QR code from then so I suppose I have a fall back but what option should I pick when setting up new phone? The set up from old or from iCloud back up to make sure it transfers over?

Curious what other people do with E-Sim phones when selling on, if you don't already have the new phone yet..

Can you just factory reset your phone, sell and when setting up the new one port your number..when it arrives on Friday? 🤔

Or do you need the new phone beside the old one, then you can sell?
