Hey everyone, what cases are you going for this year? I usually stick with Spigen, but I’m not really liking their options this time around.

What’s the fastest way to transfer data to a new iPhone. I normally restore from an iCloud backup but that’s pretty slow. Is the transfer data mechanism better? Or backing up to a Mac and restoring from there
Set up as new iPhone, sign in to iCloud, then just download what you need. Saves waiting hours and makes the phone run a lot smoother.

We normally only upgrade every second year due to the minor additions.

Order is in, but still on the fence whether just to cancel and wait till next year..
Yes the same, one year would be my upgrade and 2nd year my wife to upgrade.

But this year we broke the rule, my wife wants to check the Air to try out, if she doesn’t like it, she’ll go back to her 16PM she currently using.

I have a vodafone eSIM with work. it's basically a never-expiring QR code I can just scan and the eSIM gets cancelled on any existing device (whether I still have it or not) and is enabled on the device i just scanned the QR code on.

My eSIM is spusu and it’s the same. You can use the original QR code multiple times on the same or a new device as needed. You just need to remember to delete the current eSIM before you scan it again. I also have eSIM with Smarty and you request a new one via the app and they email it to you and add the activation pin to your app dashboard it’s all very simple.

Anyone still on the fence about upgrading this year?
Nope. Skipping this one as a 15 Pro Max owner.

I'd have gone for the Air, but the single lens camera arrangement + USB 2 transfer speeds (because I shoot DMG photos fairly often to edit on a laptop) killed my interest in it.

Pre ordered a 17 pro max, 512gb in silver. My current phone is a S25 ultra. Still on the fence about cancelling but what is really pushing me to change is the camera on the S25 ultra. It just doesn't take consistently good photos like the iphone.

Pre orderd the Silver Pro Max 512gb. 23-29 September 4 minutes into buying. Have got my Ryan London leather brown case arrive to drool over.
That looks nice. I see they have saddle brown too which reminds me of my Apple iPhone X leather case which I really liked. Have you had one of these before? How is the durability?

No, first time I've ordered a Ryan London. It does feel solid though, all the joins and buttons etc.

@Joseph C What did you order punk? Been too busy at work this week to keep up with your shenanigans 😂
The shenanigans have been shenaniganing. You’ve missed out.

iPhone Air, 512GB, Cloud White.

Because I’m a renegade and it’s what Steve would have wanted.

Let me guess yours: iPhone 17 Pro Max, Deep Blue, 256GB.

I like to set up my iPhone as new when getting a new one. Just feels good to have a fresh start. Don't really need to back anything up. I just re download all my apps and my photos/videos are saved in iCloud.

Back up to Mac seems most reliable to me. Last year I tried using the device-to-device with a thunderbolt cable but still took 3+ hours. Can’t imagine local Wi-Fi transfer is faster

Anyone still on the fence about upgrading this year?
Kinda.

I want to stick to an upgrade every two years, so I'm due to this year from my 15 Pro. But the colours on offer for the Pro are really disappointing, and it's equally tough to find a good case this year.

Only pre-ordered as my 15 Pro battery is on 85% and 400+ cycles so would need a new battery in the near future anyway and aside from the cost of a case and screen protector, the upgrade doesn't cost me anything.

But I'll almost certainly be upgrading again next year too as a result.
