I pre ordered mine, should be coming on 24th june. Getting my micro sim on monday from O2! Although, anyones pre order have their shipping status changed to prepared for shipping o_O? It's bothering me how I was 600 down now 600 up again -.-

Awesome! Hope it comes on the 24th

I havent ordered online but can tell you that the reason for the £600 coming and going is due to apple placing a hold on your money. Dont worry about it! Its just tk make sure you have enough in your bank To pay for the phone :)

The new PAYG tariffs are probably nearly identical to the current line. If you get a new MicroSim, and don't port over what you have, then you're on the new tariffs.

no they r different no unlimited data and mms r now chargeable and don't come off your txt totals cos the txt is now unlimited. So u don't know is what ur saying lol. Good guess though.

So does anyone know if I kin transfer to a microsim without having to take on the new tariff?? Am I grandfathered into the simplicity 20 tariff or if I transfer to a micro sim do I loose it??

If you transfer to microsim you are taking over your number, credit, and tariff :) i believe it will work the same except on a smaller sim :)

I did say "nearly identical". To be fair, O2 never offered "unlimited data" - it was always subject to Fair Usage Policy.

As stated though, you can transfer your current tariff onto the new MicroSim. You just need to request a SIM transfer.

so whos going to pick up a payg microsim at a carrier store on thursday?

do you think i'd be able to do this ...?

activate a new sim and switch to payg simplicity and get 100mins + unlimited text + unlimited internet. then pick up a payg microsim on thursday and switch it over to microsim?

i'm just not sure if the unlimited internet will be suitable for the iphone 4 :$ hmm.

Hello :)

I actually quoted your post in the other thread :) I understand your frustration and would be in the same situation myself had I not reserved a model on the 15th. Unfortuantly that option is now not available so i wish the best of luck to you on thursday and hope that you get it :) if not then you'll have a back up plan, although not the most ideal, but you'll for sure get an iPhone :)

hi! haha thank you, ill be sure to let everone know how it goes. think its going to be a 5am trip to my apple store :)

No worries :)

Please do! Hopefully that will be early enough to get you the iphone on thursday. I personally would go that little bit further and que an hour earlier if possible, but thats just me, i wish you luck :) I'm hoping to arrive at about half 6. I made a thread regarding people who would be going to my local store and it seems to be 7-8am people would turn up, but then again that was reserved people.

Ive just changed my O2 £35 iPhone tariff to O2 Simplicity. I asked about getting a microsim and the girl in retentions said that O2 will post one if I registered an interest in the iPhone 4 (to be safe I will go to the store with a copy of the confirmation from Apple). Anyhow she said that I will be able to transfer the simplicity over but after October I think, the data will have a cap put on it.

My question is if I were to cut my sim would I be able to continue with unlimited data?

i posted this in the uk thread, kinda sums up my PAYG situation:

On the 15th Apple opened the pre orders for the iPhone 4 from their website to receive it on the 24th June. I didn’t pre order because I thought I would get it from o2 on the day since they said it would be available on PAYG at launch (and the PAYG version is usually a bit cheaper than Sim Free, and I don’t need it unlocked as I’m with o2) so, i thought i would wait.

So two days passed and apple sold over 600,000 pre orders and now the next delivery date for a pre order is the 15th JULY!!! Another MONTH!! To make things worse, o2 changed the info on their website saying Pay As You Go will no longer be available at launch, another few months’ time. GREAT. So I could have pre ordered on the 15th and got it on Thursday. Now I have pre ordered and it’s going to be delivered in a MONTH!!!

So I went to the apple store and spoke to one of their staff to ask about how many will be in stock, and he was like "I can’t tell you anything, its secret" so i was like omg, it’s a phone. He said people will be cueing from 4am on the 24th and there will be a limited amount in stock.

So, I have it pre ordered for a MONTHS time, but I am going to go down on Thursday early (they open at 8) and cue up like a geek.

But after all, I suppose it only is a phone. I'm just annoyed because I could have pre ordered on the 15th anyway and cancelled it if I acquired it elsewhere. So I’m kicking myself! Haha! But, Apple act like it’s the Holy Grail, and o2 don’t have a clue about anything - I seemed to know more about their tariffs than they do.

:)

Yep. Same here, with the small difference being that I tried a pre-order on the Apple store, but it kept timing out and by the time I could get into the basket, the ship date was July.

No matter, I thought as O2 had said they were selling PAYG on launch day....

What a fool I've been

So now I've got one of my mates possibly queueing up at Apple Store Glasgow or I might try and bribe one of my mum's work experience staff to go to the Trafford Centre for me.

Unless the CPW ride to the rescue.....

I just went to the O2 store to try and pick up a Microsim, and they told me they don't have any yet. They said to call back later this afternoon or tomorrow. Also said it was unlikely that any would be posted out to those who registered interest, as there had been an internal memo about shortages. Anyone able to confirm?

O2 not selling payg iPhone at launch.

Yes, I'm aware of that, thanks. Initially 'updates' from them via email indicated that they would be, hence I held off pre-ordering from Apple. It was only towards the end of last week that they announced no PAYG on launch.

I want to stay on Simplicity, ideally, so I'd rather buy Sim free/PAYG. Will have to see what the Apple Store stock situation is like after the initial rush.

I took out a rolling 30 day contract with Three at the weekend to try in my 3G iPhone prior to comitting to them on my iPhone 4.

For £15 per month I get 300 minutes and unlimited internet (I assume there is a limit to this?), works fine in my 3G - I may be getting the scissors out if they don't release a similar iPhone tariff. The sales assistant did mention they may be getting some blank micro sims to transfer existing sims across, didn't know when though.

I've got 10 month left of my current 3gs contract with Tesco's. I phoned them yesterday to say that if I bought the iPhone 4 from apple would they send me a microsim from my current contract to go in it. Answer was "yes, of course we can do that for you madam", BUT "you'll have to buy out your existing contract (£180), and then we can set you up a new contract" - lol, yeah like I would do that!!!!!

So, I've ordered the sim-free direct from Apple, and a pair of sim cutters off ebay............. snip, snip!!! :D

I think I'm going to order one from the Apple site now and cut my t-mobile SIM that offers unlimited texts + internet if I top up by £10.

Wont get it for ages now though. :(

Edit: Anyone got a good guide to cutting a SIM? I thinking of getting an adapter, and using that to trace a line around where I need to cut.

hmm.. so let's get this straight...

What will happen to someone, like me, who reserved an O2 PAYG iPhone4 to pick up at the Apple Store on Thursday?

Will I have other options or will there be no phone at all for me?

I've got a reservation email from Apple. :(

This is what I bought off ebay to do the job http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=330443895961&ssPageName=ADME:B:EOIBSA:GB:1123 better to be safe than sorry when cutting IMO.

Delivery isn't for a few weeks but if you aren't getting the iPhone until after 14th July then it won't be an issue. I've ordered free sims from o2 and Orange to practise on before I cut the real thing too!

I just went to the O2 Store and picked up the Microsim. I've activated it, and it's switched over. That was much more simple than I imagined; took 5 minutes and everything works. :)
