EE claims this charge is to "support investment", what a bunch of crap. They are just trying to get away with it.

Their sudden about face to charge an EU roaming charge will only last if EE's UK competitors don't charge the same or a similar EU roaming charge, then you will see another about face from EE with some type of "we are so sorry" mea culpa.

There are 4 big operators in the UK.

O2 and EE have both announced the reintroduction of roaming charges.

Have they already done the maths and adjusted your price in advance to suit?
$60 monthly, 2-lines, unlimited everything(5G included) while in the U.S.(includes Puerto Rico, Guam, Virgin Islands).

In canada, you get charged for roaming accross the other side of the country lol…the same country!

fyi canada is the number 1 place for hightest phone bills in the world
No you don’t. This used to be the case 10-15 years ago but it most definitely is not true anymore. Your information is outdated.

Haaa Brexit, at least now you can’t blame Brussels anymore. The UK is perfectly capable of messing things up all by themselves, for themselves.

I wonder how long it will take before EU citizens will have to pay roaming charges when visiting the UK.

That will all depend on a persons provider in their home country.

EVERYONE said this would happen after Brexit, so people can’t act surprised. Not sure if this was ever called ‘project fear ‘ or not (someone somewhere must have said it) but it was an obvious consequence.

We’re not in the EU anymore meaning we have to lose many of the benefits.

It is an EU thing. All countries outside of the EU/EWR do have this roaming. So the UK will have roaming, as they left the EU. There is not a single reason, not to charge roaming fees.

I do not support this, but it is a fact and other European countries do have roaming with the EU as well. These other countries could claim to be integrated in these EU contracts as well but operators are refusing it. More revenue...

EDIT: and it goes both directions: EU phones will have to pay roaming fees in the UK.

Interesting. My U.S. based T-Mobile account doesn't charge roaming fees anywhere on Earth. Sounds like a money grab to me. Wonder if Vodaphone and others will do the same?
I wish that were true. It depends on the T-Mobile plan. I have a friend on my account who gets charged roaming in the Caribbean unless it is specifically blocked. Take a look at their support page on international roaming.

Brexit, the gift that keeps on giving. As much fun as it is to poke the EU in the eye I don't think this was a very good idea. Much better to stay in and act as the grit in the machine.

If I would have been responsible for the "stay" campaign, I would have placed these roaming fees on top of my communication list. No one was talking about that "to the masses". I closely listened to many of the pros and cons of leaving the EU all the time, never heard about it.

Speculation: It would have become a NO Brexit, if people really would have been aware of that little detail.

No, they'll still blame the EU - it's the thinking of the leavers to be honest.
