Thought we needed a thread to discuss availability, pre-orders, pricing, the new MacBook Pro in general really for us British folk. So hey, who's getting one?

Me :D

That is, I'll be getting the base model. Can't justify the extra £500 for features I won't really take full advantage of.

£1799 for 15" 256gb ssd nonconfigurable at the glance i saw before the page went off again, way overpriced..

Looks like the ODD is missing on the standard rez 13 and 15 inch pros ????

Bigger battery's ?!

Really want one considering the Mac I'm using right now is four years old and starting to get slow. But whether or not I have to money to get another is a whole another story... I'm probably going to have to sell my current Mac to fund a new one. Has anyone done this or is thinking of doing this? Curious as to how much it could fetch on the second-hand market.

Dont reeally need retina and something thinner so sticking with the original one with spec bumps

store seemed to go up briefly, back to school promotion said £70 to spend on apps if you buy a mac, and £35 if you get an iPad ...

waiting to see how much educational discount takes the new retina 15" down to,

Does anyone understand the deal with this new graphics card? I know absolutely nothing about it (nor do I care that much) but would appreciate some comparison - good / **** hot?

I'd get the Retina display but £1799 for 256 SSD seems pretty steep. Would rather have 500 HDD for that price.

Will probably buy the new Pro. Anything's an upgrade from my current MacBook late 2009 model.

Completely undecided. I love the design of the new one but £1,547 (thanks student discount) for a laptop with only 256GB hard drive that I can't upgrade isn't ideal for me. £1,977 for the top end retina is pretty much out of the question for me.

I may end up going with the old top end 13" or low end 15" since I have a 13" now and can't decide which size is better.

Only just got my mbp 15 a couple of months ago but I'm ordering asap :)

Can I just use my time machine to put all this stuff I have on here onto the new one??

how did you find out it's £1547? i can't get into the store yet?
gah, really hoped it would be less than £1.5k

edit: I suppose with £70 back to school, it does technically take it to under £1.5k

As the person above me said, I worked out £1,799 minus 14%.

store open, but I can't access via my uni as I'm home.

using the general college link, it seems to be £1,654.80 !!!!

Anyone within a uni network can confirm if its the same?

You can check the education store from outside your uni's network if you have the direct URL - the link below should help you find yours:

You can get on 99% of the Uni stores, except mine it seems! Damn Loughborough.

Edit: Edu price for low end retina is £1528.80
