I know the US prices doesn't include sales tax but can anyone explain the UK price? It's $2788 (£1799) for the base model. that gives $588 for the sales tax which is about 26.7%. find me a state in the US charging that much for sales tax.

The thunderbolt to ethernet adapter exists for that reason, to be able to use ethernet when you need/want toThe new MBPro looks absolutely beautiful.
Retina, ssd... I figured would be part of its make up. What stops me from seriously considering buying it is the lack of ethernet... I know everyone was saying ethernet would go which turns out true, but I use my late 2011 uMBP for work (which means it gets plugged into the local network sometimes).
However I love the way they've moved the vents to the side which must improve cooling by a %multiples... USB3 x2 and Thunderbolt x2.... hmmm...
Think I'm going to stick with my current set up for a while yet .....![]()
That isn't just sales tax, the price difference includes currency conversions and additional shipping blah blah blah...

Really annoyed at how much more we pay for exactly the same items in the US store.
It's a Effing Liberty!
Really want one considering the Mac I'm using right now is four years old and starting to get slow. But whether or not I have to money to get another is a whole another story... I'm probably going to have to sell my current Mac to fund a new one. Has anyone done this or is thinking of doing this? Curious as to how much it could fetch on the second-hand market.

That is, I'll be getting the base model. Can't justify the extra £500 for features I won't really take full advantage of.

its £2299 with for the more expensive model... I wonder how much 768gb ssd will cost!
2199USD = 1417GB. add 20% VAT = £1702. Not too far off our price.
Remember US prices do not include tax in the up-front price.
Your price includes the current currency conversion, but Apple will have added a margin in for fluctuations in the USD/GBP price. Check rikbrown's post.my price includes currency conversions and you can't tell me it costs more to ship to the US from china instead of the UK? and I'd take a bit of a hit but 26%?????????????????
