Another factory in Suzhou, Shanghai, makes iPod shuffles. The workers are housed outside the plant, and earn £54 per month - but they must pay for their accommodation and food, "which takes up half their salaries", the report observes.

Wow, I just did a quick Google and the average wage for somebody in the manufacturing industry is roughly £58, so not too bad really.

In 2001, the average annual wage of employees in the above set-scale industrial enterprises hit 10,515 yuan, an increase of 1,341 yuan over 2000, according to the statistical data issued by the National Bureau of Statistics on July 4.

Oh yeah and mine is shipping too:

Curiously, my TNT tracking says it's been sat in Camberley since 06/08/07 and Edinburgh Airport since 10/09????

It also says "Please call" but I called them and they said all is well.

I think TNT reuse their tracking numbers. I checked mine and 2 shipments came up. One to Madrid a few months back and mine.

Ordered mine from Argos and it came today at around noon. Couldnt be more happy with it. It is a week 37 but I don't seem to have the dreaded screen problem.

It's well worth the wait guys! :D

Mine's on it's way from China as well. I'm assuming we don't need to worry about customes fees or anything like that? Because although these are coming from China, we bought them from Apple UK.

Ah I see, if you use the international tracking instead of the UK one it gives you the correct information. Don't know what's going on with the UK one!

Mine shipped last night some time. Week 38! Tracker only says

27 Sep 2007 19:22 Suzhou Consignment Picked Up

Thought it would have updated by now, also does anyone know if these times are UK or local times? Apple say it should be here by the 2nd so hopefully all will go well!!

No invoice still???
do i need to login to see the invoice?

how do i check my order on the tnt website?

Well a watched kettle never boils at least it's on its way. You login to the Apple Store then you click "Print All Invoices"

Ah, a fellow UKer. Which means you should be able to see the same stuff as me.

1. Go to the Apple Store, order status, and track your order.

2. Down the left hand side down the bottom it'll have a carrier tracking number and an assigned carrier. The assigned carrier will say TNT, and the carrier tracking number is your TNT tracking number.

3. Go to www.tnt.co.uk. Click on tracking > web, wait for the page to load then click the big banner that says track international shipments.

4. Paste the carrier tracking number from the Apple store into the box and click track. That'll give you the TNT tracking info which is more detailed than the Apple one.

Weird, Apple tracking says my touch is "Available for Final Delivery to Customer" even though they only sent it out yesterday!

Cheers mate
really appreciate it.
is the time the china time on the tnt tracking?

Still no ship

My internet at home is gonna be broken for the next couple of days so when I leave work in the next hour or so I'm not going to get any updates for a while :(

just wondering is there any one else who preordered still prepared for shipment considering it now nearly midnight in shanghai i dont think mine will ship today:mad:

(Ps. Ordered 19th know its not as long as some )

im suprised i asumed it would be people on similar dates but if youve not shipped from the 6th.

I ordered on the 6th as well and I'm still at Prepared for Shipment. I think this is because I got it engraved though - which slows the process I guess...

Rod.

yes i suppose it could be the engraving holding things up but surely they wouldn't display "prepared for shipment" if they hadn't been engraved would they? (then again this is apple.)

I know that I could cancel my non-engraved one up until it went to prepared, so, I would guess the engraved ones are the same. And you don't want to engrave it, and then for someone to cancel.

Anyone else had this?

Out for delivery? before it had shipped and in China? Is TNT tracking just random?
