If you think the current UK government is left, you need your reality checked. It's well to the right of Margaret Thatcher. Having lived through both Thatcher and Starmer I think I have a point of comparison. Actual left voters in the UK are abandoning the current government in droves over exactly the sort of authoritarian stuff we're seeing. We'll see if they try to toss some crumbs to stem the leakage.....

Please, it’s about as right wing as Corbyn. This is exactly what socialism is about, a race to the bottom so that everyone’s life is equally as crap. Higher earner? Great we will tax the hell out of you to fund some deadbeat who has never worked a day in their life. I have a child in private education that I chose to pay for as I feel he will get a better education than the useless schools near him, and not only do I pay tax for a place in the state system that he never uses, the government also hit us with another 20% tax for choosing to send them to a private school…..so what happens? Parents who can no longer afford this have to put their kids into states schools which further puts strain on the state systems. Typical Labour, even though most of their own politicians went to private schools it’s do as I say not as I do, thick as ****.

I think thatchers quote about socialism is very apt: “The problem with socialism is that you eventually run out of other people’s money.”

The Norwegian sovereign wealth fund is run by the Bank of Norway. Surprised this Graham guy didn’t know that. The fund is probably the most efficient and successful in the world and is underpinned by a set of guiding principles that are simply adhered to. The fund will be there in perpetuity for Norwegians not yet born; while trillion dollar deficits will hang around the neck of young Americans for the foreseeable future. As for not issuing visas, well, be grateful anyone still wants them. The state of Texas on Times Radio appears to be pretending it’s not part of the USA when pleading with tourists to visit. Seems like Graham won’t have a problem selling visas since day by day fewer people want to visit the fledgling democracy (Voting Rights Act 1965) now falling into authoritarian militia rule. And it held such great promise.
