Analyst Estimates Vary Widely - not surprised analyst are like wizard of Oz just a bunch of smoke and hot air

NEWS FLASH: I believe apple will make a successor to the iPhone 5s this year! I analyzed they have done yearly updates since the iPhone original therefore I'm an analyst!

Sounds like a bunch of BS to me.....

I predict NO Sapphire on iPhones this year and NO 5.5" model either. Just like every year Apple will deliver the minimum upgrades they can get away with.

I sapphire screen has leaked and there are nice videos on it. And there is a massive sapphire creation plant that seems to be in full production. The sapphire has to be going somewhere.

People use screen protectors?

Yes, I do. And a couple weeks ago while running my shoe got stuck on uneven sidewalk. I let my iPhone break the fall for me and the edge of the glass got scraped up along w/ my elbow... except it was actually just the screen protector that took the hit on the phone. The screen turned out to be not so bad off, a couple tiny chips. W/O the screen protector I would have needed a new screen.

So don't be so snotty. Screen protectors are awesome. Then again, you are probably the type that sneers at people cross lacing wingtips.

Analysts are nuts.

Apple is going to use different glass--making duplicate identically shaped parts!--for different GB capacities?!?

That makes zero sense! Sapphire is such a minor-to-nothing marketing point for the vast majority of people. Any small boost in high-end sales would be offset by the negative of the mainstream models being seen as lacking in comparison. Meanwhile gorilla glass is great--and may well be what that recent video showed.

Why make this complicated? TouchID already uses sapphire and has been supply constrained in past. Apple wants to sell a ton more TouchID devices. Maybe a sapphire wearable too--who knows.

You may quote me for claim chowder: sapphire screens on ALL GB capacities or (more likely) none.

Where do I apply for a job as an analyst?

I'd love to make money from random unfounded predictions. :D

Analyze the situation, you're now an analyst. Now simply from an opinion, and get a website going to publish said opinion. Have some ads, and... Profit

Pretty sure the 6 will have an upgraded processor over the 5S

Hack saws

GT and Apple better hire a lot of people good at using hacksaws so they can get to cuttin' that sapphire.

Agreed - my 5C and 5S have been super susceptible to scratches....don't know why - I haven't had this problem before. So I slapped some screen protectors on them and they work great.

Honestly, I would be ecstatic about a sapphire screen. Gorilla glass is such an overrated product in my opinion....it cracks when dropped and scratches. Personally, I'm far more interested in taking care of the scratches - pretty much any type of "glass" you put in a device will break if dropped.

I don't see Apple doing sapphire on only one model - it'll be a whole line or nothing. I still think we'll see the 5.5" later this year and it will have the sapphire displays. The extra $100 on the price will allow for some additional wiggle room with respect to profit margin.

The iWatch will have sapphire screens as well. The 4.7" iPhone 6 and iPads will all retain gorilla glass until next year. I still think the 5S and 5C stay on as the cheaper versions - I don't think we see a new 6C this year.

$0/$450 - iPhone 5C
$99/$550 - iPhone 5S
$199/$650 - iPhone 6 4.7" (September)
$299/$750 - iPhone 6 5.5" (December)

I also think we'll stick with the 16/32/64 GB storage options....think the bump could come in the S version next year.

There has been one video so far that has been reposted over and over and even the person who's doing the analysis in the video has said that he's not sure if it's a Sapphire display at all, it's not confirmed what the glass material is made of and it could be Gorilla Glass 3 since all the 'tests' he performed on camera has also been performed on camera with Gorilla Glass 3 screens with the same results.

Fugly nails in the picture of the post?

Yea, I buy it.

Whatever is being claimed in the post is true due to the fuglyness of the nails depicted.

Case closed.

My Sources tell me I am about to go work out at the gym.

Still unclear as to whether or not I will injure myself. Will follow up.

Someone should create a website where only information about iPhone, parts and rumors are discussed. Then we could go there to.... oh wait...

But what about the factory. With all the money to be made, don't you think some analysts have gone to the factory and seen if it is producing tons of sapphire or not? If the factory is up and running at full steam, then we know they are making sapphire and that it is being made to be used in something.

----------

I'm pretty sure the cheapest new iPhone outsells all the other iPhones in a line combined. So I suspect if sapphire screens were reserved just for the next GB up (let's hope that 32gb is the base), then everyone who wants one can get one. It would be nice to get a little something more for a $100 than just a bit more flash memory.

Remember please.

It remains to be seen just how great a sapphire screen is anyway.
Sure it may be amazingly scratch resistant, but we may see a ton of photo's of dropped sapphire iPhone's with shattered screens instead.

We have yet to see.

A sapphire display would be nice, but it won't force me to pay a premium price for the premium model. I have had my iPhone 4 :( for almost 4 years and not a single scratch. I just take care of it.

However someone like my wife needs sapphire. She throws her iPhone 5 around like it is a frisbee, and I swear either Edward Scissorhands or Freddie Krueger is hiding out in her purse.

My wife and I also have iPhone 4's and hers is scratched up and mine isn't. To be fair, it's entirely purse related. It's a harsh environment. That said, it would be nice if it were an option on the 4.7" phone. I don't want a larger phone. It's not about the money. A sapphire display and 128 GB are things we're willing to pay for.
