I don't buy a new iPad because I am waiting for under display Touch ID, looks like I will have to use my old iPad some time longer ...

How unrealistic are people to expect an under-display front-facing camera? On normal cameras without anything obscuring them, even slight dust and fingerprints can cause poor images. A screen on top of a camera will obscure the lens much more than dust and fingerprints.
They already exist and are on the market with other manufacturers. Admittedly, the picture quality isn't superb, but give it 5-10 years and the tech will be perfected.

Curious if you are very old? My grandparents are in their 80s and have trouble getting Touch ID to consistently work for them on their iPhones and iPads so they just use passcodes. I've even watched them carefully set it up and use it and it does kinda what you describe where it works fine the first day and then the next day or two it just kinda stops and works very inconsistently.
I’ve noticed this also with older hands, even during set up. Couldn’t figure out why it was failing. It would work and then the fingerprint just stopped being reliable. It could have been not enough contact or too much pressure/coverage on the button but I’m not sure (wasn’t my hand).

What does this even mean? Please don’t reply to any of my posts again. You are always negative and frankly it annoys me how you do this to everyone’s posts on this site. Always something negative to say. Just don’t say anything at all unless you have something that adds to the chat rather than always posting comments like you did with mine. Jesus dude
Well the point is if the tech isn’t up to par it isn’t up to par and maybe why it isn’t really pervasive and hence my comment. And apple won’t implement a half baked tech. (That’s not to say they haven’t made mistakes)

Neither Face ID or Touch ID are any good until congress acts to protect facial ID and finger print ID as freedom of speech when it comes to protecting a device. As it stands, you can be compelled to unlock your phone with your face or fingerprint when ordered to do so by a court. A passcode on the other hand is protected under free speech laws and you cannot be compelled to disclose a password or passcode by a court to unlock your phone.

FaceID has a setting for retina logic - if you do NOT stare directly into the FaceID system no unlock will happen.
You also can immediately lock using Apple Watch paired directly to the FaceID iPhone - forcing for password entry.

What you're saying or thinking is that an iPhone without TouchID enabled or FaceID enabled (or any of the two's hardware) allows for freedom of speech security. As if some thug or expert in information retrieval via torture will not get the accurate password from you. ;)

Just bring back bezels already. With bezels, we can finally get rid of the notch (Dynamic Island is still a notch) and rounded corners, and bring back 90-degree edges and even Touch ID.

With all the money wasted on an under-display Face ID, it could instead just be placed in the top bezel along with an improved camera. Touch ID could be placed in the bottom bezel, and at a low price because the technology is very mature at this point.

You can also squeeze one volume button + the power button to disable Face ID immediately.
