People complained about the notch, but at least the notch didn't waste 2-3mm of screen like DI does above the black pill.I can't be the only one who thinks Dynamic Island is taking up too much vertical space. It sticks out like a sore thumb on the screen.
Not being contrarian, but Face ID on my 13 Pro Max works fine for me with sunglasses. I have two pairs of sunglasses, no idea if they’re polarised or not.I don't want Face ID. It doesn't work with sunglasses, it doesn't work from weird angles, etc. (It's all for safety and security reasons, but it's nonetheless a headache).
None of these problems exist with Touch ID, which works reliably in all situations except rain and gloves. It can easily be incorporated under the display using existing technology.
Very interesting, thanks for sharing. I tried to scan my face with sunglasses on and iOS explicitly told me that Face ID does not work with sunglasses. With that being said, mine are polarized, and that's very likely to throw off the infrared beams by deflecting them. Not being contrarian, but Face ID on my 13 Pro Max works fine for me with sunglasses. Equally, it’s got a lot better at a variety of angles since the OS updated to allow horizontal unlock (on newer phones anyway).
I have “Require Attention” enabled, “Face ID with a mask” is disabled.
Overall, I’ve come to prefer Face ID, mainly for password purposes, but it’s a not 100% win over Touch ID - phone flat on table fail - and I would welcome it’s return. I would love to have it in addition to Face ID, works great on the iPad Mini, and it’d surely enhance security if you could specifically opt for two forms of verification on certain apps.
I think so but the question is the quality of the detection.Doesn't Android already have this?
Yes, it's pretty much useless and sticks out even more vertically downwards than the notch. It's funny how it was hyped so much as if it was this new amazing feature, but nobody cares anymore.I can't be the only one who thinks Dynamic Island is taking up too much vertical space. I can’t wait for the iPhone 30probably iphone 20 or iphone xx
I assume then mine aren’t polarised. Tbh, I’ve no idea what polarisation is/does, haha, and I expect you have to purposely buy ones that are?Very interesting, thanks for sharing. This is another one of those I’ll believe it when I see it things.

Sure, and in 5 years iPhones will have 256 megapixel cameras and levitation. Or in 10 years.
I'm so tired of those 'predictions'. Anyone can write this ****.
I misspoke earlier as polarization doesn't reflect light but rather uses vertical slats to transmit vertical light and absorb horizontal light (typically light that's bounced off the ground), thereby reducing glare. I could definitely see that absorbing some or all of the infrared beams.I assume then mine aren’t polarised. Of mine, one pair are cheap anti glare ones I leave in the car, the other ones I wear about are decent ones, £70 or so, can’t recall the brand, not Ray Ban.
The whole island could have been moved up to make Dynamic Peninsula, same screen RE to the left & right, and sometimes within as Dynamic Island, while having more screen RE verticallyThat's not wasted space... it's more screen RE to the left & right, above and below... and sometimes within.![]()
