Did anyone with 750M try running Windows in VM and force Iris Pro only? Does it feel any slower/less responsive than using 750M? I am mainly interested in productivity apps (Visual Studio etc).

Possible for graphics switching to be fixed in newer macbooks coming out this quarter or summer?

I recently bought a 15" rMPB late 2013 and I went for iris pro. I think the 750m is a bit outdated.

Considering the current is now 9xx, I agree with this. Unless you absolutely "need" the dGPU now (ie: You need it to put food on the table), and can't wait, then I would wait. Paying full price for 2 year-old technology just doesn't sit very well with me.

The only way Apple will ever change anything about graphics switching is by doing away with the dGPU and removing the need to switch anything.

I was afraid someone would say that, but I think you're right.

I ordered the X1 Carbon Gen 3 because it gets close to what I'm looking for in my development/media machine yet the trackpad is just never going to be as good as what's on the MBP.

Maybe Apple will come out with a new MBP 15" this quarter with a better iGPU and I can cancel/return this one. The current iGPU on the MBP 15" is simply not powerful enough to handle the retina resolution without micro-stuttering and decreased battery life on anything graphics intense.

All the vendors have followed Apple on high resolution screens yet the iGPU hasn't caught up to fully handle it at good battery draw, performance and TDP.
