Perfect! Thanks for sharing. Now for giggles I may have to stop by a Sprint store and pop in my sim card to test their out too. I wouldn't have expected it to be factory unlocked but your previous information makes me wonder if it isn't as well.

I would like to note, it wasn't my info :) thats why I quoted because I don't like sharing what I don't know almost 100%

I can confirm 100%

Verizon iPhone 5S = Factory Unlocked

I just picked up the 5S this morning from Best Buy and popped in my AT&T SIM and been using it since on LTE!

Full speeds, everything working exactly as it should - no difference what so ever.
I got a Verizon plan just to get it for att, do you know how soon I can pay the etf for least fees?
Also they wouldn't sell it to me unless with a contract, did they sell it to you retail?

Gret news! If Sprint iPhone 5s is unlocked and can be used with any other sim here in U.S., do you think Sprint iPhone 5s is better than unlocked Verizon iPhone 5s? I want to use it here in US locally and internationally as well.

don't sweat it, Sprint iPhone 5S if its Unlocked for US use, only advantage will be that you will have the option of using it on Sprint should you ever need to/wish to, its not going to be any different as its Identical to Verizon/T-Mobile/AT&T with addition of 2 LTE bands.

I bought it from retail...The reps told me that best buy made a mistake between for about 4.5hours since 12am PST by allowing people to "Pick up in store" - Thanks for the mistake I was able to place my order and pay via their site, pick up in store, however when I got to the store, they did honor my purchase but we had to cancel my original transaction and repurchase.

Also Came to my attention...BB charges $50 more than Apple Store and they would not honor price match because currently we cannot see the Full purchase price for Verizon, Sprint or AT&T on Apple website...

So how did you get the Verizon iPhone 5S to switch to GSM and AT&T? Did you disable the "International CDMA" setting?

Did Absolutely Nothing beside put in my AT&T SIM.

I'm positive that option only appears while you are on Verizon it self (like with Active Connection/Line) - I've never seen it on iPhone 5 and now on the 5S - When I first time powered on the iPhone 5S, I had put in my AT&T SIM replacing the Verizon SIM that came with it

Looking at a recent situation going on the with nexus 7 LTE, I believe the GSM model that's on T-Mobile and AT&T/ Unlocked GSM model could technically run on Verizon 's LTE network only , since the band included. On the Nexus 7 LTE, it includes Verizon's LTE band, but Verizon refuses to activate it, since it not officially certified. But you could put in a already active Verizon sim and access LTE, with no option to fall back on 3G since the CDMA radio isn't included. So I'm thinking on the US GSM models, you could use just Verizon LTE for data only, voice/text is out of the window, due to the CDMA radio being disabled.

^^THIS

I am totally wondering if anyone has tried this yet. Put a Verizon LTE SIM into an AT&T or T-Mobile iPhone 5S and see if it connects to LTE data only. I know none of the CDMA tech will work in a GSM iPhone 5S, but to get at least 4G LTE data would be great.

I know I've got an unlimited Verizon line that I do not use for calls at all that would love a new phone (*cough*iPhone 5S*cough*).

They don't make it so effiicient, so the only way would be to sign up for service and then cancel 30 days later. Even with the ETF that mathematically works out to be less expensive than the full-on unlocked GSM version by about $70.

Hmm so get a 32 gb 5s verizon, cancel 15 days later, pay the 350 etf. 650 for the phone and its unlocked with clean esn?

This got me curious... so I cut my Verizon micro-sim in my CDMA iPad 3 and tried it in my new AT&T iPhone 5s (unlocked).

As you can see in the screenshot... data works! Had to go into the cellular menu and toggle "use LTE" off/on to get it to work... but it does work. No voice, obviously.

I don't consider this to be useful practically, but interesting nonetheless.

Question, so as soon as I receive my Verizon iPhone 5s, before I turn it on, should I remove the Verizon sim that came with it and then replace it with let's say Straight Talk sim in order to activate it? How can I transfer my Verizon number to Straight Talk? Please advise. Any help or suggestions will be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Ya you can do that and you definitely can transfer your number to ST as well, no issues.

Hi Satnam1989 great post , quick question.

from what i understand the verizon/att/tmobile will be unlocked if you buy in full price (non activated), regardless if its purchased at an APPLE store or carrier store?

Thanks a lot !

Mostly true.

I know for a fact if you buy an iPhone from the t mob store, even if you pay the entire price in full, it will not be unlocked initially. There's a certain waiting period and other conditions that need to be met before it will be unlocked.

Just save yourself the headache and buy direct from Apple especially if you will be paying the full unsubsidized price.

Are they unlocked by default? Or do you have to do any sort or restoring at all? Some say you have to restore , some just plug in any sim and good to go.

AIO is directly owned by AT&T rather than another company, I would say the service will be reliable and quiet efficient for most users who don't care about LTE being capped at 8Mbps

The latency of the Aio APN is worse than the throttle - about 200ms

Now, has anyone actually tried this model on Sprint? I thought they used SIM cards for their iPhones so I can't see why it wouldn't work...

Just want to confirm....

I am on tmobile and currently have an unlocked 4s. I know apple updated the GSM phone in April after tmobile came on board so that the 5 would take advantage of all the Tmo bands (I think the 1700 band was the one that was added?)

So I'm trying to get a 5 on ebay but have to avoid the ones that are pre-april. According to wikipedia (a source I generally avoid at all costs!) the april model for BOTH tmo and at&t supports 1700.

My question is: if I get an At&t model, from after april, (last 4 of serial #Fh1d), I will be able to unlock it and be good to go with all tmo has to offer? Basically its the same as a tmo phone just currently locked on at&t right?

thanks!

Understanding the iPhone 5C/5S All-In-One AT&T/T-Mobile/Verizon Model

SATNAM I can't thank you enough for your post.
Due to your in-depth outline I made the decision to purchase a Verizon 5s today and just as you said, it is unlocked.
I used a sim from AIO and it worked flawlessly.

Thank you so much!

I bought a T mobile iPhone 5S unlocked on apple.com to use for AT&T but next year I wanted to give it as a gift to someone with Verizon.

So I should have gone with Verizon unlocked huh?

When I went to BestBuy today. They said that they tried installing an AT&T sim card into a Verizon iPhone but it only gave them data, no voice. (or was it the other way around). They said it was a rumor that the verizon iPhone could work perfectly on AT&T. Did they screw up?

They did something wrong.
