They did something wrong.

Maybe they used a Verizon iPhone that was bought on-contract?
The latency of the Aio APN is worse than the throttle - about 200ms
Now, has anyone actually tried this model on Sprint? I thought they used SIM cards for their iPhones so I can't see why it wouldn't work...
Reason it wouldn't work is because you didn't read the OP properly - its clearly stated "why"
Just cause a Carrier uses SIM card doesnt automatically mean its for GSM.
Verizon and Sprint use SIM for LTE ONLY - Voice, Text etc happens via CDMA
Read the OP again and u will understand
Yes the apple store. Just tell them you want to get a Verizon iPhone full priced and it will be unlocked already (device only). Don't have to ask them if its unlocked because they may be clueless on that.
Or order it online via apple site.

You can order full price from both sites Verizon's and apple's (Verizon choose month to month and apple just choose color than storage then carrier then full price)

How does verizon's month to month work? How do i order from their website if I just want the phone no contract? Thanks a lot
Also T-mobile stores are saying that you cannot buy any phones off contract, they will activate it and can only be unlocked 40 days later, anyone know if this is true?

EDIT: apple online store sim free only tmobile version. My mistake.

Actually, I completely understand how SIM authentication happens on Verizon, and you're wrong. Verizon does NOT use the SIM for LTE only. The Verizon LTE SIM contains CSIM (CDMA) and USIM (UMTS/LTE) applications and is used for all network authentication, thus why SIMs are freely swappable on Verizon phones.
Now, WTH Sprint is doing, that's another question. Maybe Sprint is doing some weird, bizarre, pointless hack like that. Which is my question.
if I got a full price 5S from radio shack, assuming it would be unlocked.
Can anyone confirm this?

Its possible with what you said, but what you have to say about Verizon LTE SIM working in a AT&T iPhone 5S/5C? They lack CDMA Support fully....
Ok so question for the OP,
I am on AT&T currently, with unlimited data. I'm 1 year into a two year contract, I'm buying full retail so I don't have to sign i new contract. And i always re-sell my iphone every year to upgrade, So your saying best option is to buy verizon phone. And I don't need to buy unlocked correct? Because all verizon phones are already unlocked? And from what I read it will work on AT&T and also support my AT&T LTE in the USA, also is it sure to let me use simultaneous voice and data? Last thing... If this is all true my plan would be sign up for new service with verizon through apples website at 3am est on Friday, buy a subsidized 5s 64gig for 399 and cancel my contract as soon as I get the phone and pay the etf.
Please let me know if this is all correct and the best course of action in your opinion
Thanks !!!
That will work, try to see if u can buy it at full price from places like bestbuy or verizon store it self or radioshack etc.
Yes it will allow you simultaneous voice + Data, thats a limitation of the network (as to how it handles voice + data), and not the iPhone (yes some say iPhone can do it on verizon if it had a additional antenna but if Verizon supported VoLTE then the limitation wouldn't exist on the iPhone's end).
If I buy a Verizon iPhone 5s subsidized (eg. 64gb $399) I WON'T be able to use an AT&T SIM on it, right?
Thanks!
