If your having to charge an 11 Pro twice a day it’s faulty or setup wrong. What’s your battery usage? Post up some screen shots of your battery screen...

I was thinking the same thing.

I’m an extremely heavy user having to use my device for work and still last a day and a half.

The display quality and speed is also better, not just the camera and battery life.

But the only reason why I got the iPhone 11 Pro Max was because the iPhone X is just too small for me. And I changed my mind about waiting for the iPhone 12 as I am predicting a significant price increase while the iPhone 12 will still have a notch according to the rumours.

I personally would not upgrade from an iPhone X to an iPhone 11 Pro though.

So aside from these 2 oVeRWhElMiNg upgrades of camera and battery, Id agree it’s not a worthy upgrade but alas..... it IS a worthy upgrade because of it.

Only IF you value those 2 huge upgrades is it worth it.

WiFi 6 is icing on the cake.

I don’t think a lot of people will care if the top tier devices go up in price as long as Apple keep a mid tier iPhone around the £700 mark. Those paying £999-1100+ are already happy paying a significant premium and raising it a little more wont exactly impact sales as the lions share of the market are going for the iPhone 11 anyway.

I switched from an iPhone X to an 11 Pro this week and the only difference I have noticed is the nightmode feature, which I’ve yet to test. I thought the battery was going to last much longer, but I’m charging the 11 Pro twice a day, just like I did with the X. Probably should’ve waited until the 2020 iPhone cycle, but I was excited about the camera and battery.
You got the wrong pro if you wanted awesome battery. Most review sites including anandtech showed that the regular 11 outlasts the normal pro in most tests apart from ones involving video playback where the oled would save on blacks.

Here are some things you will or won’t readily notice. A13 chip, better gpu, WiFi 6, matte finish on the back which I love with logo now centered and the iPhone wording gone. Double the water resistance. U1 chip, faster Face ID . Double the screen contrast ratio, brighter screen. The newer space gray color which I like, same pricing as last year. And of course as you mentioned the better battery life and cameras. For me it wasn’t “underwhelming”

faster Face ID is due to ios13 not the new phone

Funny how people here know how the 2020 iPhones will be...

I assume you all are on Apples payroll?
Or are you just referring to the rumors coming from websites who are just after clicks ( = revenues)?
The people claiming what’s coming are normally correct..it’s not pure guesses they are legit leakers

So this really isn't about the objective differences between the phones... this is about your subjective emotional relationship with the phones. You should consider asking yourself why you depend on having such a strong emotional tie to a phone.
This made me lol 😆

The rumors come from legitimate sources that have predicted correctly year after year. Hence why keynotes are no longer exciting if you follow leaks.

It’s actually quite predictable if your prone to recognising iPhone cycling schedules

Surely all the things you’ve listed are the epitome of underwhelming, lol.

Logo centred and Apple logo gone, complete game changer, better rush out and upgrade my XR now!!!Faster faceId is also available on all the X models as it’s software rather than hardware

So I just switched from my XS to the 11 Pro Max, and aside from the battery and camera, and obviously the size (my XS was the regular model), I can't really tell the difference.

Obviously the changes were not that big, and I went with the 11 Pro Max because I have big hands and wanted a bigger phone (and a MUCH better battery life), but otherwise it's hard to tell the difference. Which, I guess, is actually a compliment to the consistency of Apple's hardware and software design, but still it feels a bit lackluster.

I think the biggest problem is that I just switched to the new one using the set up from my old one, so everything was copied, and all the apps were in the same place, which makes it feel like I barely switched.

Smartphones are in a great place now, and it's hard to justify the need for a "pro" model, since a $400-500 phone can do basically everything, but still, I just want that "new car" feeling, at least for a few days.

I understand that this is such a first world complaint, but did anyone experience anything similar to this? Would like to know your thoughts.
Did you really expect huge differences in just one year?
Battery life is much better, camera is much better. That’s it.

You can compare models. Clearly there are many substantial improvements, whether they matter to you personally, is another matter.
Battery life alone is a game changer. Not to speak about camera.

I said I understand that the changes were small, I just wanted a clear feeling of a new device being superior. Like when I buy a new car, the whole experience is what matters.

So it's not about the device itself, it's more about the whole experience. Which I think is due to, again, copying everything from the old phone on set up. Just something I think Apple can possibly improve in the future.
At the end of the day my Xs was at 20%. At the end of the day my 11 Pro is at 55%. This alone is an huge change.
The camera is capable of shots simply impossible on the Xs.
What small changes are you speaking about ?
I really don’t understand your complain.

You switched to a bigger phone with better camera and battery life. Which is what you got and acknowledge. But you have a complaint. The only problem I see is a lack of foresight.

IMHO it's not worth upgrading every year unless you're on the Apple auto-upgrade program.
People upgrading to 11 Pro from 8 or earlier will certainly get the best utility out of the latest iPhone.

Do you buy a new car every year?

No offence, but I think it’s silly to expect some big change upgrading from last year’s model.

In my opinion, this year upgrade is major. Before the iPhone 11 Pro Max, the iPhone was a joke in comparison to what Android phones were offering.

You had Android phone’s with all the cameras + night mode, 2.000.000:1 contrast displays + high nits, big batteries and also a few other things.

Sure, the iPhone 11 Pro Max doesn’t have 120hz display, reverse wireless charging and always on display, but that is why the iPhone 11 Pro Max has the best battery life on the market right now. And I predict that the iPhone 12 will have worse battery life than the iPhone 11 Pro Max if it also includes these features.

This is what I was giving up on saying in comments Because I’m sure it would fall on deaf eyes. I don’t want a faster hz display, always on, or reverse wireless. I value battery life above all of that nonsense. All those features mentioned are either gimmicky or unnecessary imo

Good points but I think you’re really onto something new and exciting here: deaf eyes! Next year I’ll follow up with blind ears! ;)

The battery is great, I agree, but it doesn’t quite outlast my sons galaxy A70 which is considered a midrange Samsung device. With OneUI (or android pie, idk) battery optimisation his phone frequently goes 3 days between charges. It is, however only several weeks old, that may contribute. It’s actually a really impressive device overall for a midrange. Not entirely sure but I think the battery is rated at 4500MaH. In use I’ve noticed it does tend to discharge noticeably slower
