This is why I don’t upgrade every year. You don’t so easily see any difference if you come from last year’s phone. I went from an 8 to the 11 Pro, there‘s a significant difference between the two.

I went from 8+ to 11 pro. Was significant to me too. Also the battery lasts a lot longer than my 8+, which I was surprised tbh. Camera upgrade was the main thing for me.

The battery is great, I agree, but it doesn’t quite outlast my sons galaxy A70 which is considered a midrange Samsung device. With OneUI (or android pie, idk) battery optimisation his phone frequently goes 3 days between charges. It is however only a few weeks old, that may contribute. It’s actually a really impressive device overall for a midrange. Not entirely sure but I think the battery is rated at 4500MaH. In use I’ve noticed it does tend to discharge noticeably slower

In that case you should know that the 11 Pro Max comes with a 3969mAh which would’ve put it at a significant disadvantage if not for the optimization and the CPU efficiency. It still manages almost 2 days for most people given the significantly more features as compared to the A70.

I have in the past bought a new iMac, got it set up, then sat looking at it thinking 'why have I spent so much money and ended up with something which feels exactly like my previous iMac?'. I suppose it's a credit to Apple because it works both ways and means you can keep a device for longer and still feel current. I upgraded from the XS to the 11 Pro because I could afford it and I just wanted the latest phone. I have an emotional attachment to my phone, which I don't have to my car - so a £1K phone upgrade is preferable to a £15K car upgrade.
