So I'm not completely stupid?

Now while Tesco, Sainsburys and Jamie Oliver are busy on TV convincing you that you can feed a family on a fiver… what does that £4.14 that Apple is ripping you off with actually buy you these days? Not much.

There are far worse rip-offs in the UK worth complaining about.

Apple's pricing really isn't up there with them.

Would be curious to see if you get any reply from Jobs Inc.

At least it's free delivery!!

Agreed
I was under the impression it was MORE expensive in the uk

http://www.pocket-lint.com/news/news.phtml/26414/windows-7-cheaper-in-uk-than-us.phtml

Here's a turn-up for the books. UK customers are used to being forced to pay considerably more than their Yankee counterparts for games, gadgets and software. With Windows 7, however, Brits will be paying nearly half as much as the US.

Full editions of Windows 7 Home Premium will cost, according to CNET, around £65. Americans will be paying $120 for the upgrade version, which is about £72, and a whopping $200 for the full version - £122!

Amazon's offering pre-orders for Windows 7 at £65 and Play.com has it for £75 with free delivery. Microsoft's scrapped the "E" versions it was planning that didn't have Internet Explorer 8 in, so this is the exact same software, localized to the UK

The price is not that much different after you add local sales tax - roughly £19 vs £25 but that does include our 15% sales tax!

Ok not perfect but $30 + 15% = 34.4885 / 1.64 = 21.0295732 so £4 difference.

Not to mention the fact that the UK also has import duty on top of VAT... it's a USA product after all. That's gonna add another 7% or so.

This is irrelevant, the UK always pays higher prices for Apple products. That's what you get for your free health care...

How the hell do you figure that one out. We pay national insurance which is the funding for the national health service. We don't get a choice. I can't call the tax man and say I'm with bupa so I'm not paying.

General question... Do people in the UK really have such a closed mentality that they are unable to see when they have things good too?

Sure you might not have the best prices on everything, sure their are countries where items A,B & C are a tad cheaper, but for goodness sakes pull yourselves together.

MINA 2009 Statistics said:
Denmark, Ireland and Finland had the highest overall prices of all European Union nations for consumer goods such as food, clothing and electronics last year, the EU statistics agency said Friday, AP reports.

Living in Ireland, I accept it's expensive here. I'm certainly not going to go crying to Steve Jobs about it....

Oh and we have a 21.5% VAT rate, and don't even ask about Car prices here..... :D

LMAO at your "Sent from my MacBook Wheel" e-mail signature! Onion reference much? :D

I don't know why you're complaining, though, £25 for a new version of OS X is a great deal!

Uh, unfair? Who's to say what's fair or not? You got some universal magic "fair" profit formula? I don't see how the higher pricing for SL in the UK would be a shock to anyone, have you seen the UK vs. US prices of MBPs, iMacs, iPods ... ?

You must understand that whingeing is a national sport here.

Being introduced as a new event, taking the place of synchronised swimming, at the 2012 London Olympics… Britain's medal tally set to soar. :D
