Universal today launched the second official trailer for the upcoming Steve Jobs movie, directed by Danny Boyle and starring Michael Fassbender (via Coming Soon). Set backstage at three of Jobs' biggest product launches, the movie aims to showcase the personality of the former Apple CEO through some of the most intense and public moments of his life.

The film also stars Seth Rogen, Kate Winslet, and Jeff Daniels as Steve Wozniak, Joanna Hoffman, and John Sculley, respectively. Since initial rumors began on the movie's production four years ago, it's faced multiple changes in directors and lead actors for the role of Steve Jobs.

The movie debuted last week at the Telluride Film Festival to nearly-universal positive acclaim, with some calling it "thrilling" and Steve Wozniak himself noting its accuracy to real life events. The movie will next make its premiere as the Centerpiece for the New York Film Festival before debuting in limited release on October 9, and going wide on October 16.

I'm very much looking forward to this. Have to admit though, purely from the trailer admittedly, but Michael Fassbender, while a good actor does not look, sound or act like Steve Jobs. There's no hook. Which makes it really distracting. Even with Ashton Kutcher there was something, and Noah Wyle was perfect. Michael Fassbender, i'm just not seeing Steve there. It doesn't help that this is such recent history that we all know exactly how Steve looked and acted.

Tim Cook isn't a huge fan of this movie according to comments he made to Colbert.. He felt the characterization was unfair.

Oh, and Fassbender as Jobs is a fail

I agree. Whilst the Ashton Kutcher movie was further away from the facts, this movie hasn't got the cast to make it a global success. Why couldn't they make the movie more about the latter years? Jobs became a superstar because of the iPod, iPhone and iPad. I would have liked to have seen the movie about how he developed and battled the critics with these products. Kids these days have no idea about the old iMacs. This is an older generation movie.

I will gladly wait until this out on video. No way am I paying for movie theater tickets to see yet ANOTHER story about Steve Jobs. I honestly don't know why anyone cares so much about his life.

It's a film with an Aaron Sorkin screenplay. It's all about the dialog.

As Sorkin himself was quoted, "you have to think of it as a painting not a photograph."

I actually really enjoyed Ashton Kutchers Steve Jobs movie. I don't think I'll enjoy this one as much. Michael Fassbender doesn't look anything like him.

Tim Cook isn't a huge fan of this movie according to comments he made to Colbert.. He felt the characterization was unfair.

When I watched the Kutcher movie, I saw Steve Jobs
When I saw this trailer, I saw Fassbender.... not gonna work for me I'm afraid.

So Ashton Kutcher is a better actor than Michael Fassbender... Alrighty then.

No. I'm saying that Kutcher would have sold more tickets with the younger generation. The cast is wrong and the era they are focusing on is wrong. It should celebrate the golden years of his life.

"Steve Wozniak himself noting its accuracy to real life events."

Wozniak also said that the conversations with him that were depicted in the movie never took place. Hmmmm. Not sure what to think when Woz comments about Apple and Jobs. I'm starting to think that Cook knows Jobs better than Woz, at least what Jobs became in his final years.
