Tim Cook isn't a huge fan of this movie according to comments he made to Colbert.. He felt the characterization was unfair.

Oh, and Fassbender as Jobs is a fail
I think he was referring to the 'man in the machine' biopic which was just released a week or so ago. He referenced having not seen it yet which would be a weird thing to say for a movie not released just yet.

I'm very much looking forward to this. Have to admit though, purely from the trailer admittedly, but Michael Fassbender, while a good actor does not look, sound or act like Steve Jobs. There's no hook. Which makes it really distracting. Even with Ashton Kutcher there was something, and Noah Wyle was perfect. Michael Fassbender, i'm just not seeing Steve there. It doesn't help that this is such recent history that we all know exactly how Steve looked and acted.
I agree. Yes, Fassbender is a big turnoff. Suspension of disbelief will be very hard to do. Kutcher did the mannerisms right and did look like Jobs, although the script was no good. Fassbender is a classic miscast mistake.

I don't understand why a lot of people are complaining about the fact that Fassbender doesn't look like Jobs. It's all about the performance, so we should all wait and see the movie before judging him.

I hate it when the trailer gives away the whole movie.
Then you probably hate pretty much every trailer made these days.

This one is much better than their first trailer. It's interesting how it seems to focus a great deal on Jobs' daughter. General audiences probably wouldn't care to see a movie about product unveilings. But a movie about a neglectful father might pull them in.

Fassbender does not act or look like Steve. I will still watch it but they should have had Kutcher as Steve again.

I hear it's a movie in 3 parts, centered around 3 product launches, I think the bookends are the Mac & iMac so what's the product launch in middle part?

Wozniak also said that the conversations with him that were depicted in the movie never took place. Hmmmm. Not sure what to think when Woz comments about Apple and Jobs. I'm starting to think that Cook knows Jobs better than Woz, at least what Jobs became in his final years.

I think I'd prefer a Sorkin screenplay to someone transcribing actual conversations that happened. A movie, even a documentary, is impressionist - they have 90 minutes to get at a greater truth, and taking artistic license to do that, or using an actor who can do more than look like a guy, is fine.

I'm a little shocked that anyone would think that the most important characteristic/ability of the lead actor would be how closely he LOOKS like Steve Jobs.. I'm hoping that the movie will have a little more depth and thought than "Dude, Where's My Car?"
This is a biopic after all, people do expect at least some similarity to the real person.

Amanda Seyfried as Linda Lovelace, in Lovelace
Angelina Jolie as Mariance Pearl, in A Mighty Heart
Channing Tatum as Mark Shultz, in Foxcatcher
Daniel Radcliffe as Allen Ginsberg, in Kill Your Darlings
James Franco as Aron Ralston, in 127 Hours
Leonardo DiCaprio as Frank Abagnale Jr, in Catch Me If You Can
Leonardo DiCaprio as Jordan Belfort, in The Wolf of Wall Street
Reese Witherspoon as June Carter Cash, in Walk The Line

What links all those castings in biopics?
..The actor looks nothing like the real-life person they are playing.

But acting is not impersonating. If it was, movies would be very different indeed. And a lot less enjoyable.

I guess there is a subjective difference when the real-life character is so much more well known, as is the case here, with Steve Jobs. And I would predict that that will create a barrier of some kind with all of us when watching this film, even those of us defending the casting of a quality actor like Fassbender.

But take a look at those movies listed above again.. and if you've seen a few of them, how do you feel about them?
Did you enjoy them? Did you not enjoy them?
And was your enjoyment based upon how much the character looked like their real-life counterpart... or was it based upon the quality of the acting, the script, the plot, the cinematography, the style, the story, the tension, the supporting cast, the locations, the visual effects, etc etc etc.

Finally, it is foolish to judge a movie that you have not yet seen.

This looks good, like real gooood. Hope the film can deliver like this trailer.
