I'm starting to think that Cook knows Jobs better than Woz, at least what Jobs became in his final years.
Since Tim Cook joined Apple about the time that this movie ends, I'd guess that Woz is a better source for what the Steve Jobs in the film was like in real life.

Tim Cook probably does know the mature Jobs better than most, but that would be irrelevant to this film.

So there's no drama in getting the iPod, iPhone and iPad to market? No drama around Steve Jobs getting cancer and dying? The conflict of Apple taking over from Microsoft? It was a lot of success filled with a ton of drama!!

Welcome to movies. Rarely does a movie want to tell story of success or golden years; that's boring, there isn't enough conflict to sell tickets. People don't admit it but they love drama.

That's the thing... I think fassbender is "good enough" in the looks department of Jobs. It's just like Gandhi (imho, Kingsley didn't really look like Gandhi, but was "good enough.") Same with David Oyelowo in Selma, "good enough" in the looks departments as compared to MLK.

It's ALL about performance. You can have someone who looks, acts, etc. nearly exactly like the original, but if the performance isn't there: none of that matters.

Performance > Looks. Period in my book.
You haven't even seen the movie to support this actor so much. I certainly hope trailers aren't what you go by to tell the quality of a movie.

Also for me to spend my money on something it has to be far more than "Good Enough". Fine for you but I have higher standards when it comes to my money.

Fassbender is too muscly for the role, facially looks nothing like him and the worst part: he sounds like an Irish actor doing a bad impression of an American accent. I can hear his Irish accent come through in every line. It's completely distracting and takes me out of the moment. I get the feeling judgment buy the reaction around here that American's can't hear the Irish accent for some reason, but I certainly can.

I'll see the full thing, but I get the feeling I won't be able to overlook all this watching.

Agreed. I think most of the people here (especially the ones who want to see the movie so badly) already know the story of Steve Jobs and Apple, at least the gist of it. I'm willing to bet most of the people clamoring to see this movie only want to see it for the drama that Jobs allegedly brought on. Some people see him as a tyrant and just want to see him going off on his team of engineers. Movies about a person's life are generally off base because they weren't there to see the whole truth.

It looks like a solid movie, and I can't wait to see it. Although I still can't get over the choice of actor. I like the actor, I just don't see any similarity, not even in body language.

No i haven't, but I already know it'll be better than Kutcher (who admitedly looks a lot more like Jobs than Fassbender).

Performance > Looks

You don't have to see it ya know. No one is forcing you, but at the end of the day it's all about performance and rarely about looks.

Tim Cook isn't a huge fan of this movie according to comments he made to Colbert.. He felt the characterization was unfair.

Oh, and Fassbender as Jobs is a fail
I don't think Tim has seen that movie yet if I remember correctly from the interview.

Amanda Seyfried as Linda Lovelace, in Lovelace
Angelina Jolie as Mariance Pearl, in A Mighty Heart
Channing Tatum as Mark Shultz, in Foxcatcher
Daniel Radcliffe as Allen Ginsberg, in Kill Your Darlings
James Franco as Aron Ralston, in 127 Hours
Leonardo DiCaprio as Frank Abagnale Jr, in Catch Me If You Can
Leonardo DiCaprio as Jordan Belfort, in The Wolf of Wall Street
Reese Witherspoon as June Carter Cash, in Walk The Line

besides Linda Lovelace, and June Carter Cash

picture what any of the original people look like...

oh you can't because none of the did product presentations for over 30 years in the public eye

Fassbender looks and sounds nothing like Jobs especially speaking Sorkin's hack job of a script

"Steve Wozniak himself noting its accuracy to real life events."

Wozniak also said that the conversations with him that were depicted in the movie never took place. Hmmmm. Not sure what to think when Woz comments about Apple and Jobs. I'm starting to think that Cook knows Jobs better than Woz, at least what Jobs became in his final years.

Steve Wozniak stopped knowing Steve Jobs in 1985 and only after Apple was restored and post the iPod did Wozniak resurface to say hi once in a while.

Kate Winslet's character left NeXT early on. She was not part of Apple's return to today. Sorry, but as usual tech art never matches history.

Still trust Woz's opinion over yours and Cooks. Sorries!

I'm just looking forward to seeing how good the attention to detail is. Can't wait to see an original Mac 128k in mint condition on the big screen.

Small note: the Alex Gibney Documentary, which all the veeps at Apple said is dishonest, etc., is on iTunes.

I'm looking forward to this. It looks good, the actors are great, and that script looks like it might be a real winner.

And for the poor literalists: Kutcher might "look" more like Jobs, but if Fassbender does his job, and he can, you won't give a damn after two minutes. Kutcher can't act his way out of a paper bag. And really? Woz said that he's quoted as saying something he didn't say? It's a drama, not testimony in a murder trial. Woz also WOULD have said that if he had thought about it, or if Jobs wasn't kind of ignoring him after he got big time.

No, he was clearly talking about the Gibney documentary. The execs at Apple and Mrs. Jobs think this is great.

I'm very much looking forward to this. Have to admit though, purely from the trailer admittedly, but Michael Fassbender, while a good actor does not look, sound or act like Steve Jobs. There's no hook. Which makes it really distracting. Even with Ashton Kutcher there was something, and Noah Wyle was perfect. Michael Fassbender, i'm just not seeing Steve there. It doesn't help that this is such recent history that we all know exactly how Steve looked and acted.

Imagine. You have to work a bit to understand the character and motivations, which Sorkin can depict and Fassbender could play. Go to the movie, the superficial differences will mean nothing.

I don't care how much Ashton Kutcher looks like Jobs , he's a bad to average actor at best, while Fassbender is a great (at his worst) to stunning actor ( at his best).
To be fair, I didn't dislike the version with Kutcher. But it was really an average tv movie. This on the other hand is at a whole different thing on every level.
Bottom line, i can't wait to see this.
