The other thing that catches my eye is about the keyboard, I think 'chocolate' might be a mis-transliteration of 'chiclet' but I have no idea what it's talking about otherwise 🤔
No, the blogger specifically said chocolate, and was referring to the colour. I guess what is meant is that the keyboard colour will be darker black than the current dark chocolate black? (I don't know the current keyboard colour since I don't have a 2020 MacBook Pro.)

Really looking forward to it. Would be really nice if Apple announces the larger iMac next week, though I think it will be only be all about MacBook Pro.

Wishing to see the MacBook Pros offered in colours and not just space grey and silver.

The laptop form factor is pretty mature at this point, so I don't expect major "appearance" changes, but I'd love thinner or no bezels on the screen (XPS style).

I also hope Apple surprises us with a "new" MBA.
The edges of my laptop screen (within the bezels) are covered in fingerprints from opening and closing. I don't know that I want the bezel to be fully removed. That said, I notice the fingerprints on the black much more than on the actual screen.

M1X is 5 nm.

TSMC's 4 nm is not scheduled for mass production until 2022, and that's assuming all goes well.
Legit, that's a 20% improvement. The advances that tech is making are astounding, and I feel that gets missed a bit because nominal changes don't look as impressive.

Judging by the invitation, the M1X should be an absolute beast in CPU and GPU performance. I would not accept anything below mobile RTX 3060 performance in the lower tier and RTX 3070 in the high-end option. Otherwise, basically all new PC laptops with dedicated GPU would be able to outperform the newest MBP in graphics, which would be shame.

Are we not supposed to be speculating on various blue and white options based on Apple's invite video? Hopefully not starlight.

(Wouldn't it be amazing if you could actually change the colour from software? :) )

5 nm and 4 nm are marketing terms, not actual measurements.

AFAIK, TSMC did not publish how much of an improvement 4 nm is. However, they did say that their next 3 nm process yields 10-15% better performance (at the same power) or 25-30% better power efficiency (at the same speed) as compared to 5 nm, so obviously 4 nm is going to be much less of an improvement than that.

So, I'm going to guess that 4 nm is ~5% better performance (at the same power) or ~10% better power efficiency (at the same speed) as compared to 5 nm.

Will finally be able to replace my 2011 MBP! Don’t want to see how bad the bloodletting (dollarletting?) will be when I upgrade to 32GB RAM and 2 TB storage to make this machine also last 10 years…

I get that you want your money's worth. Kudos. But how on earth did you continue to use a non retina display for so long? My daughter still uses her early 2012 non retina and when I look at it, I cringe.

I literally don’t know what I’m missing. I’m sure once I use the new machine I’ll never be able to look at a non-Retina display again. (My iPhone 12 mini screen is too small to spoil me)

Nope will not be buying the new MacBook.
Still waiting for the new larger screen Apple silicon iMac....that I will buy two of.

I am really looking forward to seeing the speed more than anything, and the invite is very promising. I couldn't really care less for the HDMI / MagSafe ports, Touch Bar etc. as long as it looks super sharp [as I expect it will].

For my studio work, if it cannot be specified to similar 3070 level or above , I cannot buy it as a pro machine unfortunately. I need the option to be able to run at high speeds, especially when travelling / out the studio / WFH.

I'm typing this on my late 2011 MBP. Having never had a device with a retina display, I think it's fair to say that we simply don't know what we're missing out on. We'll all be on board the retina train soon enough, personally the 14" is the computer I'll be upgrading to.
