Why? The only selling point I've heard is that they are dropping Qualcomm chips to get a longer service life, and that the replacement will match more higher-end android phones already on the market. The Google event will not be ignored. The Pixel 6 is perhaps the most anticipated Android phone Google has ever released.
You might as well add the following: "Not only are we keeping the Touchbar, but we are doubling down on it, after the excellent critical reception we got for it. We call it courage, courage to do the unthinkable. We hope you like it as much as we had designing it. Here is Alan Dye for some words about the new Touch Bar...""This Touch Bar goes to 11.. because it replaces the number row on your keyboard"
Same here. A new M1X MBP would be a great piece of candy, and is something I was planning on transitioning to from my M1 MBA.
But in the almost 1 year that I've had my MBA, it has been a delight to use. Every. Single. Day. It's fast, compact, weighs little, has a decent screen, great keyboard, and a long lasting battery. Zero issues.
No need to upgrade for me.
I do wonder if that’s the case how the $600 price gap is justified. Currently you get a more powerful CPU (6-8 cores @45W vs 4 cores @28W) and dedicated GPU for the money (plus presumably $1-200 for the screen size bump as other product lines also demonstrate). I think either they trim the entry price of the 16 slightly, or start it with maybe 1TB storage or 32GB RAM if they don’t want to do that. Alternatively the 14” might get more expensive, though I don’t think they will go above $1,999 starting price for it.
What’s “the pixel”? Never heard of it. Is it like a fax machine?
I’d expect the pixel 6 to get a lot of coverage as it will be the first phone to include the Google Tensor SoC and might also be the first phone to ship with Android 12. If the rumours are correct then Google will be launching a 6 and 6 pro to compete against the iPhone 13 and 13 pro along with other android phones like the Samsung Galaxy/Galaxy Ultra. I’d imagine that is a lot more news worthy than new MacBook pros to the general public no matter how much we are looking forward to these. Why? The only selling point I've heard is that they are dropping Qualcomm chips to get a longer service life, and that the replacement will match more higher-end android phones already on the market.
Or is it just the most anticipated Android phone that Google has ever released (e.g. slightly edging out about a half dozen others)
It’s there now.No AR Toy? I am disappoint.
Apple has lost their way.
They will fail.

It was, as I expected, a typo. The author has edited this referenceI'm quite confused by that reference to the MacBook Air - ie:
"The 2021 MacBook Air models will be a throwback to the pre-2016 MacBook Pro designs, with Apple undoing many of the changes that we're introduced with the 2016 revamp"
Shouldn't that be "The 2021 MacBook Pro models...."?![]()
NO! As I understand divide by zero is (usually/most often treated as) undefined. Not infinity.Yes, it’s because since they’re not currently for sale, they can sell 1 and do infinitely better
1) How do you know how much the Touch Bar costs Apple to implement? No Touch Bar will cut the cost a lot but charge higher price, so smart
Nah ones to replace the discontinued onesminis?
Very unlikely.No MacBook Air?
I hoping for one as well but I have my doubts as the Mini M1 was released last year. Maybe the M1X with a chassis redesign in 2022?Hoping for a Mac Mini update, the chip shortage should not affect this model as it has fewer if any power-save chips in it.
No new SoC to put in it, so it will soldier on another year until the M2 is ready in Fall of 2022.No MacBook Air?
I think that might be a little optimistic. With the 16" they probably do have some wiggle room to reduce the price as they're eliminating/ reducing several components onto a single SoC. Less so with the 13", and also the added cost of mini LED, so if I had to take a guess 14" comes in at $1,999 with its basic spec (probably 512GB storage and 16GB RAM with the most basic SKU of the M1X) and the 16" with the same spec at $2,199 or so. Then eventually the current M1 13" Pro gets the new design but a regular 14" LCD panel. They likely (finally) have the freedom to set the price point where they would like.
I'd expect the 14" and 16" to both default to lower core options, with the 16" having upgrades due to a more substantial cooling system surface area.
If the baseline memory and storage goes up, I'd expect the 14" to be somewhere around $1499 and $1749 configurations, and the 16" to be around $1999 and $2299 configurations.
I think a notch is plausible, someone pointed out the aspect ratio change might account for a full 16:10 display plus a little extra bar at the top either side of the camera notch. This does imply FaceID though which isn't explicitly mentioned.![]()
Apple M1X MacBook Pro 14 and 16 with notched display, 120 Hz refresh rate, 100 W cooling fans, and similar pricing - rumors run amok following Unleashed event announcement
Rumors have started running amok following the announcement of the upcoming Apple event. Most expect Cupertino to reveal the M1X MacBook Pro 14 and MacBook Pro 16 at the event, and many leakers have been doubling down on older tips or even revealing new ones, such as the perturbing possibility...www.notebookcheck.net

Notched display? I don't buy it.
