That is a very good question. MY wife still has her 11 Pro Max and she can drain her battery before evening. But she's far more important than I am - has a social life (friends), and she uses her phone heavily. lol. My light usage and my 12 Pro - I'm pretty happy. My wife is waiting for the 12 Pro Max.
Social life will kill the battery. Several years ago I had this friend who texted me day and night. She’d text me from her vacations in Europe and freak out if I didn’t answer...at 3:00 am my time. o_O And yes I did try to have conversations to set boundaries. The results were...interesting.

She convinced me to join Facebook and that app of course ate the battery. I had an iPhone 5s and between FB and this friend texting me all day long, the poor phone kept having to get plugged into the charger several times a day. I figure this one person was probably equal to 25 of my other friends texting at normal amounts.

We ultimately parted ways after there was an immense meltdown on their part one time when I refused to text while battling the flu. That was only one person texting me constantly so after that all ended my 5s started lasting me most of the day again.

I have other friends who have a much more active social life. They are active on Facebook, FB Messenger, Instagram, Snapchat, Reddit and Tik Tok, to name just the ones I’ve heard of. They’re always almost out of battery!

In our family, only my husband currently has social media accounts like FB to keep in touch with his family. His last employer forbid employees from having social media accounts but his current employer allows them. Plus he has whatever systems they use at work. He is on 11 Pro Max and is going to 12 Pro Max because he’s always connected at least to work.

The kids and I have a few people we keep in touch with on iMessage, FaceTime, and that’s it. Even my SE2 battery lasts me the day now. :D But I do like to read ebooks and I use GPS (when not on Covid lockdown) so I do want my phones to have good battery life. GPS is another battery killer.

Nonsense. You can say “it’s a little hyperbolic”, but outright saying that’s it’s spam? Nope. I’d even go a little further and say that this comment of yours I’m quoting is more spammy than the thread itself.

Yeah, I am a loner, fat, balding, computer guy. My computer and my phone are my friends. But yes, my wife talks with her friends and college co-workers/classmates a lot. Her 11 Pro Max can be drained before 5pm easily. While if I don't have a heavy phone day, my 11 Pro Max could end the day at 89% easy. (Most days (low to mid 80s)).

My 12 Pro is just amazing - I'm loving the size. I'm using it a LOT more than my 11 Pro Max. I'm within 15% of my 11 Pro Max. Even with 6 hours of Screen On usage for me - I haven't hit 50%.

One thing I've noticed - when I travelled the world for my job over the last 2 years - batteries drop like bricks even if you try not to use them when traveling. Something about airplane travel / travel just drains batteries like crazy.

There's so much cognitive dissonance in these replies. Apple can never do any wrong so shoot the messenger. This post above is not aggressive use and you can see the massive degradation in battery performance. Buying $1000 for a new phone should be an UPGRADE. Not just sharp edges and a lousy, smaller battery. I mean this is ridiculous but the defense of Apple at all costs is why they are allowed to continue doing this to us loyal buyers.

we’re still not going to sub to your YT channel...

Lolz !!

I am using my 12 Pro , and trust me , it last the whole day for my using . I do everything with my phone , and I meant I use alot with my phone everyday . I came from 11 promax and those battery still the same , here is why : I have charger in my car , my work place , my bedroom ....

Whatever I drive to work / home , I hook a cable in , and thats it . Easy !

why people still worry to much about battery , since you can charge everywhere you want , and you got a fast charger 20w also . Thats not a big deal

Gotta say, I find it amusing that we're calling the use of social media on a mobile device a "social life".

*In my best grandpa voice* - In my day a social life meant getting off the damn phone and going out to see/meet people!
Lol the friend I was talking about also was someone I saw in person several times a week. She was truly a good person, but there were some issues there with not wanting to respect my boundaries.

Excluding friends and family living far away, most of the people my family and I text with or FaceTime with are people we saw more often in person until Covid hit. Ordinarily this time of year we would all have been coming back from one of our annual weekend trips together. That’s why I feel weird trading up my 11 Pro because it didn’t get the usual vacation and travel workout my previous phones all got.

There’s a bunch of us whose kids are all as close as siblings because we’ve been traveling together since the kids were little. Now they’re all tweens and teens. Sigh.

But mostly we texted to coordinate in person get togethers. Now we occasionally show off our hideous Covid hair. I always did my own hair but even I’ve let my hair go kind of wild. 😝

I contemplated switching to the 12 Pro Max, but I'm sticking with the 12 Pro for this year. The 12 Pro is great for my current pandemic-life day to day routine. The 6.1-inch screen in this form factor makes for better one-handed usage, and it feels like a natural extension of my hand. I don't see myself traveling too much until COVID rates drop, so long battery life isn't necessarily a need for me right now. I work from home with a Magsafe charger on my desk, and I plug my phone into the charger when I'm in the car.

I'm on the iPhone Upgrade Program anyway, so I can get the 12S/13 Pro Max next year as the world gets to some level of normalcy, and I'm commuting for work again or traveling.

Just my two cents ^

If you weren't expecting the first generation 5G modem to be a power drain, you weren't paying attention to the first generation LTE modem or the first generation 3G modem.

I posted this in another thread with a similar topic.

I am pretty happy with the battery life I'm seeing with my 12 pro. Obviously I'm not a super heavy user but ... I'm not hitting 50% even after 6 hours of "heavy" usage for me.

The weight difference between my 11 Pro Max and this is night and day. I was out doing errands yesterday and ... yeah... the phone wasn't pulling my pants down, it wasn't a pain to hold, and the size is perfect. A week down with this thing and I'm not going back.

Are you using widgets? I’m not getting anywhere close to those numbers. Barely 3 hours usage and burned up 40% battery today. Just Reddit and Twitter.

I have weather and activity on my home screen. I use the widgets on the left for news and battery life. But yeah, no I don't really use widgets.

Most of my usage is macrumors, YouTube, lots of calls, and texting like crazy (WhatsApp sometimes too). I'm a light user I think. I am a hobbyist photographer but I'm not really getting out that much.

I ended my normal day (6pm) with my 11 Pro Max at ~85%. My wife could drain her 11 Pro Max by 5pm easy.

When I do use Apollo - battery life suffers a little more than usual. I don't do social media tho - maybe that's why?

Serious question from an Android user, specifically a stock vanilla Android guy, Nexus / Pixel fan. Currently still on my Pixel 4 XL, which I like, but want to try something new, and maybe go back to the iPhone, last iPhone I owned was the 7 Plus, it was ok, wasn't an iOS fan then, but seems like it's changed quite a bit since that phone?

Does the 12 Pro have at least pretty good battery life? Comparable to my mediocre 4 XL battery, which is like 5.5h SoT

Sorry to break it to you.....but that's not how it is supposed to work. The devices are tools for you to use, and you shouldn't have to worry about ensuring you have a charging accessory at all times with you.

The battery life is fine....people expect too much! If you are going to be recording, watching video etc all day then ya battery isn't the best. Otherwise, for the "day to day" user it will be just fine.

Yeah you should be able to get about 6 hours of SOT. I had a 4XL and the 12 pro battery is comparable, maybe a tiny bit better. But not what I was hoping for after using the 11 pro, which was a tank.

let me break it back to you !
if you drive to work , and have a fast charger ( PD supported ) , there wont be charging all the time ! Mostly my phone got charged with my car charger.

ex : I unplug my charger at 5AM to start workout with my music on , and then check out email / news / favourite things to do , and battery down to 80%. And when drove to work ( 30 mins ) , music with my car audio and charge , and back to 100% . Get off work at 5pm , with full day heavy use on my phone , I didnt care about my battery ( maybe under 20% ) , drove home and charge the phone and got back to 80% , sometime with traffic , my battery was full when got home and I dont have to charge until next day ....

Title may be clickbait but for some, battery life isn’t impressive. Others, disagree. It all depends on what device you’re upgrading from and what you do.

My friend went from an 11 Pro to 12 Pro. He said he returned the 12 Pro because he sees a definite decrease. Can’t use 5G since we don’t have it here yet. LTE speeds aren’t that different. He said the new design and 5G isn’t worth it. So he returned it.

He didn’t like MagSafe. He said it’s really not much different than using a cable. It’s still not wireless. He said it takes forever to charge compared to using a lightning cable. He’s back to his 11 Pro and content with his choice.

I bought a case for my 11 Pro that has squared edges so it feels like I’m holding a 12 Pro. I am satisfied with it.

Cool. I’d rather take off the charger in the morning, not worry about it all day.

Yeah, when I had a 1 hour to and 1.5 hour back work commute, all my charging was done with the car - and that's with the slow Honda Car Play cable, lol.
