That is due to auto brightness and the light sensor. Are you checking the maximum brightness indoors? Try going out in the sun

Hmm no I don't have the screens on auto mode. I don't see a difference outdoors, but I don't use my phone outdoors generally, it has to work perfect, indoors:/

Please see my text above, I posted exactly when you posted:p. Do you see how the 13 has a more reflective screen? Hold both phones in your hands and raise them tilted up the way you would usually use your phone. Also the lightness, the 13 even when you crank it up to the highest effect it never becomes as light as the X?!
I did exactly what you suggested. If you are referring to reflectivity, or more precisely anti-reflectivity of the screens, I see no difference between the two.

I put both phones on max brightness, again no big difference. Some whites on the X looks "whiter" than the 13 Pro but the difference is miniscule. On both phones, True Tone is turned off by the way. Perhaps your 13's screen was somewhat defective. Have you compared yours with other 13's at some Apple store?

Thank you very much for taking your time to compare! Much appreciated! Yes either my screen is defective, or I have super sensetive eyes (which I would believe, I'm hyper aware of slightest light differences etc in general:/). No unfortunately I live too far away from nearest Apple store:/

Oh I forgot to ask, how did you find the brighness? If you crank up both phones on highest brighness (indoor, true tones, no auto mode) do you find the X is much brighter? Because either my 13 has a defective screen or its just that the models differ in brighness?

Omg the brighness issue;Solved! I was going through the "Accessebility" for both phones side by side. Turns out, the 13 was set on "reduce white point 60%", while the X was not reduced. I turned off the reduce white point on the 13 and voila, the screen gets as bright as the X!

I still do not like how reflective 13 is and that weird ghost cast or whatever to call it, so that remains to be solved.

Edit; Also I compared a picture I took with my dslr camera, a portrait of my pet on a white background. The same picture is in my both phones. Surprice surprice, its very noticebly less sharper on the 13 zoomed in or out. How the picture is sharper on a 4 year old model vs a new model is beyond me. I'm starting to dislike Apple for the first time ever.

Give it to your momma!

or put a anti-glare screen protector on it. VOILA!

You're welcome

I just got my iphone 13, and I hate the screen. I have been using iphone X for 4 years. I have never hold any other iphone during this time. And now when I got the 13, I'm so disappointed! It feels inferior to iphone X. I compare the screens side by side and the 13 screen looks, weird. When I read texts etc on the screen, its like the text is bleeding somewhat? It looks a bit blurry? Something is seriously wrong with the glass Apple has used on iphone 13!

Also the feel of the phone in ones hand is bad aswell, I hate it so much! The design of the phone is so, flat. The iphone 5SE was flat like this but that was a small phone, the 13 is so much bigger and the flat design/screen just does not look or feel good, how did they even believe this was a good idea?!

I was suppose to give away my Iphone X to my mom (she is on iphone 5SE). But now I have doubts. Either I have to return this 13, or give it to my mom. All my dreams of a newer phone is shattered

You know, I’ve been silently thinking this myself. I play a few fps battle royale games like pubg. At a distance things become choppy and crappy looking. Unlike even the iPhone se2, I could see a lot further. Even with the older screen and size vs the 13pm I have now.

I thought I was the only person who noticed this. I’m not saying the screen sucks. Maybe my eyes just aren’t adjusting correctly or something but I can def see things better on every other phone vs the 13pm I have now.

Iphone 13

Please compare these pictures! The one above and this one. This is a picture I took with my Dslr year 2018. Its in my image gallery on the Iphone X and now on the iphone 13. I took screen shots on both phones. Same screen settings. This is ridicolously unsharp on the 13. I tried to write on Apples Support forum. I posted it, and then it was taken down "access denied".

I am sure you are right. Especially when one is used to one screen and upgrades to an other, things just does not seem right with the 13 for people that are more sensetive to these things

Definitely X is not much brighter, (indoor, true tones, no auto mode) I'd say about equal. Your 13 doesn't sound right.

Thank you! Yes I did solve this, posted it a bit above, it was a "reduce white points" issue. The reducing was on iphone in 13 and off in iphone X

Consider that if your 13 has an higher resolution than the X, it's possible that some images appear "sharper" on the X screen, just like my 8 is sharper than my 13 Pro when I look at Instagram posts. This must be particularly true with the Max, as it's just like the 13 and Pro, just bigger

I've recently switched from X to 13 Pro. To be honest, the screens look no different to me. With the exception of the camera, X is still a very capable phone. I even put both of them side by side and launched Apps for the first time to check the speed difference. There is a 1 to 2 second difference in speed but nothing to write home about it.

To make matters worse, 13 Pro feels like a 2x4 compared to X. If the camera is not important for you, you can hang on to your X for a few more years.
Try with heavier apps, try live text… iPhone 13 is in another league.

No sense, iPhone 13 screen is better in any specification, it is your habit / paranoia or some settings.
I agree lol, I'm to critical! (and comparing two devices side by side is just enhancing my criticism).

I find it ridicolous that I'm spending this much energy and time on this:rolleyes:, it is just a phone not a permanent thing. I'll use it for a few years and give it away^^

Thank you everyone that replied ✨and thank you for helping me process this "transition" lol. I decided to just suck it up (why put this much energy on this?!?) and stop comparing. I'm either keeping it or giving it away. Case closed?

Sounds like it may be a defective phone. Are the 13 and 13 Pro displays made in the same facility? The display on my 13 Pro is superb. With Promotion, it's without a doubt the best display I've ever used.

From googling, iPhone 13 is 460 ppi (pixel per inch) while iPhone X is 458 ppi, so basically the same. However, i13 is 6.1in diagonal and iX is 5.8in diagonal, so side by side, iX should look a bit sharper.
