I wear bigger thicker stainless steel watches and having seen the Apple watch, it seems rather dainty and small. I realize the market is full of watch newbies afraid of strapping anything to their wrist but really - just get over it. I'd like to see a 46mm Apple watch with better battery life and a bigger screen, gps, and integrated cellular (no iPhone tether), maybe then will I be interested.

And for everyone who bought a precious metal version of the Apple Watch, a big "**** you!" as you watch your un-upgradeable investment rapidly depreciate in vale.

Someone who bought the Apple Watch Edition should've known going in that they were buying something that is much more like a traditional piece of technology than a traditional timepiece. It has an expiration date that can be measured in months or single-digit years as opposed to decades. It's certainly not a keepsake timepiece, nor do I think it was ever designed to be one.

I usually end the day with > 50% battery, so for my use, the battery is fine.

The biggest problem in my view is speed, if there is a few seconds of delay when I launch an app, I may as well just reach for my phone.

They have to smooth out the kinks, for example, when using Siri or replying to Messages it should be instant or as close to instant as possible.

Kuo (unlike most "analysts") gets a lot of stuff right. But he also gets things wrong. He was the one who correctly called the re-introduction of the iPad 4 after it had been discontinued. But he also said that Apple would keep selling the iPhone 5S at a new US$300 price point along side the iPhone SE.

I've seen assessments in both directions regarding Kuo's actual level of accuracy. I just find it strange that whenever his name is mentioned, it comes with a modifier hyping his credibility. This happens with a frequency that seems gratuitous. I suppose that could be the result of writers just habitually doing that without thinking about it, but it seems more intentional, like a publicist is employed to push it to gin up Kuo's reputation and subsequent income. It's kind of like Kanye West always promoting himself as a musical genius. It just strikes me as odd. Maybe he really is all that and a bag of chips, but I don't know.

i have this, its thin but its very classic looking so i don't think an apple watch which isn't circular and look classy will look nice being very thin

This is the first of the design flaws in the rev 1 iWatch. Thanks for listening, Apple.

The other two for a reminder are:

2) Battery life a minimum of a week.
3) Always on display.

Then I might consider buying one.
Why oh why does the watch need an always on display when you are not looking at it all the time? Or do u sit and look at the time constantly? It comes on when you raise your wrist or tap it. That's the best solution to this non issue.

I personally don't think Apple should release an updated watch every year. Since it's a wearable accessory, I'd say at least every 3 years, but that's just me.

Also, if they do a yearly update, they should also have an upgrade program where you would hand in your old watch for a big discount on the latest.

lol

so your watch is .1mm thinner than the apple watch.

.1mm

like I said.... I laugh when I read these comments about how thick the apple watch is...

POINT 1 MILLIMETER!

the oyster perpetuals are 10.4 mm and the apple watches (both sizes) are 10.4

and looking at other rolex watches... they are all thicker at going on up to 14mm thick....

I wonder if the existing bands will not be compatible. And the gold watch crowd? I wonder what they do? Will Apple step up the next Gold watch with 40% more gold to appeal to those folks instead of being thin? If the watch is thinner, it will have less gold, seems like a Gold watch person would want to have a thicker watch with massive amount of gold to make it worth those prices. Also will Apple create a more expensive Apple Watch for them?

Correct. They're targeted to the uber-rich who spend $30,000 on a shopping spree on a lazy weekday and think nothing of it, and they can certainly afford a new Edition on a yearly basis. In fact, nothing screams "I have money" more than dropping $10,000-17,000 on a watch that'll be obsolete in a few short years. People who normally save up a few months' salary to be able to afford a Rolex and expect it to last a lifetime do not buy the Edition.

For me, it's not necessary about 'always on', it's more about not having to flick or turn my wrist to activate the display.

So for example, if I'm riding a bike, I want to glance down and look at info in the screen. I would have to flick my wrist or take my hand off the handle bar.

Another example, If I'm sitting and waiting for someone or my ride to come, my hand is in a 'rested' position, I don't want to keep turning my wrist to activate the screen. I just want to glance down.

It may just require a change of habit for me, but it sure gets annoying at times... maybe a very quick way to keep the display activated for, say, 15min at time, or to stay on until I turn it off.

I wonder if Apple purposefully makes first gen products thicker than necessary, that way they can keep shrinking it with each subsequent generations.

Whether the Apple Watch 2 is introduced in June or September, it appears clear that Apple may be elongating the wearable's release cycle beyond one year to avoid consumer exhaustion. Many customers only received the Apple Watch in December during the holiday shopping season, so a new model launching this spring may be considered too soon. A closer to year-and-a-half refresh would seem more appropriate.

This is a ridiculous rationale. It's fairly clear from the sales numbers that everyone who was going to buy the Watch likely have. So unless Apple is planning only to sell to that same 15 million group of initial customers, then there needs to be a new watch to generate new interest as soon as possible.

There's currently a well defined and finite pool of customers -- essentially everyone who has an iPhone 5 and up, which is reportedly somewhere around 500 million active users. Which means, Apple has only sold watches only to around 3% off the potential customer base -- a customer base to which Apple has exclusive audience to target advertising e-mails, along with apps for the watch its customers can't delete! To say those 500 million iPhone uses are unaware of the Watch is ridiculous. So it's either too expensive, doesn't do enough for the value, isn't fashionable enough, or something the customer isn't interested in adding to their current digital experience. All of these things Apple can address with updated hardware.

I still don't understand the FaceTime camera. I mean who wants to hold you wrist up for a several minute long convo and look at someone. I don't even like using the phone feature for long conversation becuase it's an uncomfortable position.

Have you ever Face Timed on an iPhone or iPad? Those things are heavier and much more difficult to hold for a long conversation, yet people do it all the time. The watch may actually be easier to hold up, to the extent it's even necessary. Moreover, the watch is meant to be a convenience to answer such a call, rather than fumbling for the phone. Then after the call is initiated, Hand Off seamlessly hands the call over to the iPhone, or possibly iPad or even Mac. It will be a great addition. If it's too much trouble for you -- DON'T USE IT!

Thinner .. who cares ... it is thin enough as it is.

For me, at least one model of the AW2 needs GPS .. make the Sport model, an actual Sport model that would be a decent running watch. No GPS in the other models is fine. I personally would sacrifice battery life for built-in GPS. I know I am probably in the minority, but I don't like carrying my phone while running.

As it is now, my AW (which I have had since April, 2015) is on my wrist 23-hours a day, and on the charger about an hour a day .. I am fine with that. It really isn't that difficult to charge it.

Apple is going to need to give me a killer reason to wear something on my wrist that I haven't in over 10 years. 30% thinner is not that reason.

I'm jealous that you can wear your's that long! I put mine on as soon as I get up in the morning.... workout.... then I have to charge it (I use the workout app).... then, if I'm lucky, I can make it til bed time. it's about 50-50 that I get the "low power" notice shortly before bed. at least once a week I lose power completely before going to bed....

the past 2 days I've had 2 watches to wear.... I put on the original when I got home from work then wore it all night with the useless sleep app... and through my workout in the morning.... I didn't have much power left after that! then I put it on the charger and put the new rose gold watch on to wear to work for the day....

so ya... I REALLY REALLY want better batterly life!

it's thin enough for me.... GIVE ME BATTERY LIFE, PLEASE!
