An always-on display would not be possible with a OLED screen, it'd burn. That's why the Nightstand feature doesn't stay on all the time, many people requested this but it simply cannot be done because of the OLED screen.

Samsung Galaxy s7 much.....

Circular face, standalone 3g/4g model, and GPS built in and sign me up for one.

I'm shocked - Apple making something thinner, color me surprised

I guess this is one rumor that's was a no-brainer ;)

What model of current (or future) Apple Watch would be good for a cowherd/ranch hand/steer wrangler/rodeo cowboy/bull rider?

thinner that means the current bands will not be compatible ??
in other words?? WWDC will be a 3 hours event?? we have or we hoped to have beside iOS and OSX, a big mac event with all redesign Macbook pros, an update mac mini, and now we have Apple watch too ??

I'd rather see than 40 percent used for more battery capacity and a faster processor. Honestly the processor is the biggest thing but then a battery to keep up if not slightly improve on the time.

Also as someone who got the $600 Watch version so I wouldn't kill it, I would kill for a special trade-in deal that gave us like $300 or $400 for these if the second model is that much better and allows much more stuff to get done. I still love my watch, but the speed is horrible and you can't really use many of the apps. It's still great for health tracking and getting notifications, plus it's a pretty sturdy watch.

I have been wearing my Apple Watch since the launch day and I have purchased three watches so far (first is Sport, then I decided to go for SS and I also got my spouse another SS). My initial thought when the watch was announced, I thought it was such a beautiful piece of technology. Now, the more I look at it on my wrist, I wish it would be much thinner. I would probably buy a thinner one when it came out.

Why thinner? It's not thick.

I'd very much prefer longer battery life and even more that the display can stay on much longer, e.g. always on during an exercise, or always showing time without having to twist your arm. Don't make it thinner until those real problems have been solved...

I actually wouldn't mind it being a little bit thicker. I don't want a dainty watch on my wrist.
There are plenty of third party bands and shrouds for an Apple Watch to make it have more bulk. If they make it thinner, a third party unit can have a larger battery for the device.

This is the first of the design flaws in the rev 1 iWatch. Thanks for listening, Apple.

The other two for a reminder are:

2) Battery life a minimum of a week.
3) Always on display.

Then I might consider buying one.

... and it comes with a pony.

Given that people's face change on a regular basis, cuts, zits, hair cuts, beards, makeup, etc I don't see how it can be accurate and reliable. It would be much better just to put the watch on, then type in the security code once.

Face recognition has been around for awhile now. None of those things fool it. It looks for various facial measurements that tend to be unique from person to person and last your entire life. It checks how high up your eyes are, how far apart they are, how big they are, how wide your face is, how big your ears are, how much your ears are offset, mouth size and position, nose size and position.

My understanding is just ~20 measurements like that are enough to uniquely identify everyone on earth, and unless they get plastic surgery, it's consistent through their life. (Not sure how consistent you are from being a child to being an adult... maybe the changes are small and gradual enough that the system can gradually update what it considers to be your measurements. Not sure about identical twins... that's only an issue for about 1 in 250 people, though.)

I could see using the camera for selfies or vines, but remember most selfies are done to put your face in front of something to show where you are. You can do that by sticking your phone away from you about 2-3 feet depending on arm length. If the camera is on your wrist you can get the camera maybe 1-1.5 feet away. That's an extreme closeup. Not saying it isn't doable but it would change the selfie significantly.

Wide angle camera could make this work, right? Then it could capture stuff off to your sides to provide surrounding despite how close the camera is to your face.

The watch is hideously thick.

Just wait until it's 30% as thick as it is, and how hideous the current one will look.

I don't see anyone clamoring for an iPhone as thick as a 3G anymore...

OK...... so has apple ever released a new/refreshed version so soon after releasing new colors that are JUST NOW shipping.... the rose gold watch with royal nylon band and rose gold clasp JUST became available for ordering (i noticed it yesterday.... it was NOT available to order on Tuesday... just said "coming".... can't remember if i checked wednesday or not) and is just now starting to ship. it's not available for pick up at my apple store...

so it's a brand new product.... I assumed (ya... I know) from them releaseing these new products that we were safe until at least September....

then today I see this article!?

Hands up, all those who didn't buy the original Apple Watch because we're waiting for the Apple Watch 2 come out?
(I held off primarily because you need to have the iPhone nearby in order to get so much of the functionality out of it. Also because the battery life is so dismal)

I laugh at these posts saying the apple watch is too thick!? And I have since it first released! My watch I was wearing before receiving my apple watch was THICKER and WAAAAAAAY heavier!

what the heck kind of watches are you men wearing that are so freaking thin and light!?

Thinner? Yeah, but will it have a camera? If I had a first gen apple watch, I wouldn't be compelled to upgrade just cause it was thinner. If it had a camera however, THEN I could see people in mass wanting to upgrade.

I picked this at random.

Google thin mens watches for more. The WHOLE WORLD is obsessed with thinness!

While I actually want a thinner (and lighter iPad) and do not mind a thinner iPhone (if battery life improves), I don't really need a watch to be 'thin' and 'lighter'. In fact, I like watches with a bit of 'heft' to them. As someone else said, we need the capability to grow (autonomous use, standalone apps, better biometrics) etc. I also wouldn't mind a night time band for sleep.

If you want it to be thinner, have a week battery, and an always on display you will be waiting a very long time.

There it is again. What's with all the slobbering over Ming-Chi Kuo? The article here is based on information from Brian White, who only gets noted as an "Apple analyst ... of Wall Street firm Drexel Hamilton." Meanwhile, a side reference noting agreement on one prediction with White refers to "often-accurate [emphasis mine] KGI Securities analyst Ming-Chi Kuo." It seems that whenever Kuo is cited, he must also be praised or hyped. What's up with that?

Kuo (unlike most "analysts") gets a lot of stuff right. But he also gets things wrong. He was the one who correctly called the re-introduction of the iPad 4 after it had been discontinued. But he also said that Apple would keep selling the iPhone 5S at a new US$300 price point along side the iPhone SE.
