That is a shocker, yes it's been reported to be at $399, however, I was thinking it would be $449 or $499. Watch it be $399 with only 32GB of storage and $499 for 128GB of storage...
If that does happen, I fail to see the problem.

Maybe if they do a small refresh next year, like they did with the SE after a year. But yeah I wouldn’t really expect it with this release. 64 base and 128 for an extra $50, like iPhone 11, makes the most sense to me.
I agree, but I can dream.

I know storage is an easy up sell, but I do not know why storage *size* is a differentiator. I wouldn’t think the # of people who would get an iPhone 11 rather than the Pro if it had 256GB is very large, but what do I know.

If the price is right this may be my next phone / swap phone with XR

not sure if I’m feeling an iPhone 11.5 in the fall if that’s what it’s ramping up to be.

I’d rather this iPhone 8.5

I have a gift card burning a hole in my pocket too

Yeah, when will Mercedes make cars with round headlights again? When are they going to realize not everyone wants cars with these amorphous slithers as headlights? We also want a handbrake between the front seats.
Completely out of place comparisons. Notches are simply horrible and not necessary, Xiaomi looks sooo much better than iPhone.

It does 🙂

But I get your point.

The iPhone 8 supports wireless charging. It's got a glass back. I know. I've cracked it
OP corrected his post.

Same. I have a 7 that I got in 2016. Will wait to see what September brings. If smaller sized phones are all still +$1000 I'll probably get this.
The 5.4” model should be about $749. OLED, dual cam, 5G, slightly smaller than 6/7/8.

More reason it should cost less since iOS < iPadOS and 2019 iPad 7th gen is ~$240 street price. Shrink the iPad with lower material cost for smaller display and battery while adding cellular radio so price of budget iPhone should be no more than $299. May be a moot point afterall and a product launch failure if it doesn't include mask friendly Touch ID. Face ID + Touch ID then pattern unlock as backup would be ideal.
iOS is in higher demand than iPad OS. Your pricing is only your opinion. Apple charges what people will pay.

They're going after people like me who have been holding onto our 6s's, despite having the battery replaced and still getting crap battery life. I waited in line for the first iphone and had almost all versions up to the 6s. The product has plateaued at the 6s for me and probably a lot of people. It's fast enough and does what you need it to. I don't need a status symbol, I just need a phone that works. AND I want to pay cash for it... not a fortune. I use real cameras for my photos and a Mac Pro for most things computing/online. I also prefer a smaller phone and fingerprint technology over facial recognition. If someone is using the iPhone as a status symbol these days, that's pretty sad. I thought millennials had figured that out.
+1 had the same feeling after the 6s. Nothing really new and the new design of the X area just never hit the spot for me. Im really looking forward to the SE2 and maybe upgrade. At 399 its an easy out of pocket deal. No stupid leadings, financings or other deals. Just good old cash on the table and its mine. Done.

Why would anyone want to use a phone with those huge bezels?
Why not? Doesn't bother me at all. Definitely less distracting as that ugly notch they build into the new generation line.

The Back Image Sensor will very-likely be the same 12 Mpx image sensor that's currently used for the Front Camera on the 2019 iPhones AND was/is used for the Back Wide image sensor on the 2018 iPhones.

My reasoning, Economies of Scale !

The ~2.8 GB of DRAM will (naturally) limit what can be done with it, from a Capture-perspective that is.

I hope anyone that buys that Moto is aware of the embarrassing 1525/5498 Geekbench score of the 665 processor, vs. 5415/11294 on the A13 (so, like over 4x faster on the vast majority of phone operations & over double the speed on anything multithreaded).
That, to me, is MUCH more significant- as it is real & noticeable; as opposed to 720 vs 1080 on a sub 7” screen, held 2 feet from the face... which may be noticeable to a small subset of fighter pilots with 20/10 “sniper vision”.
And it will (I assume? Do 1080 vid don’t give a damn if screen is 720. Don’t fo much editing on the phone, actually. Only in a pinch.

This seems to be more of utilitarian tool for elementary school children and people who "need" Apple phone but don't care for status. These people could also buy second hand iPhone 7 for ~100-150$ and it would serve them just as well.
This is the most garbage “advice” I’ve ever read!
Ummm... a used phone from 4 years ago (WELL out of warranty, & obviously w/ no support, as it is 2nd hand) will serve people just as well as a brand new one?
In a pig’s eye, is that true.
The people that want to be a part of Apple’s ecosystem, use high quality apps, etc., but don’t necessarily have the same (apparent) attachment as you do to the imagined prestige you posses and sense of marvel that strangers must get whenever they see you check a text on your current year Apple flagship- are the same type of people that would try to get 4-6 years out of their phone... by recommending they start out with a phone that’s already 4 years old, you’re suggesting that an iPhone should be used for a full decade. That’s ludicrous.

Btw, this is 2020... not 2010- nobody has judged one’s status on whether they have this year’s phone or not for a good long while.
